They will be sharing their thoughts, and experiences from their autism journeys along with insights and tips to help you on your journey. I want you to know you are not alone. We are here together.

S1 E5 Cyber Bullying
Today is a segment from a video my friend, Rebekah J. Samuel and I made in June for a YouTube Series we do called The Chatty Auties about cyber bullying.  As autistics, we have all experienced bullying but in this time of quarantine where so many more people are online and stress and tensions are high we have experienced more cyber bullying and been witness to a good deal of it happening within our own autism communities.  We are discussing what happens in your brain when you experience a social hurt and why you feel so awful, how triggers and language assignments affect how we and others feel, two ways to heal from a social hurt from cyber bullying and how to respond. Today’s interview is not to be missed.  My friend, Julia, who wasn’t diagnosed until she was 40, has some incredible insights to share today.  She was awarded the MBE in the UK for her innovation in developing new methods of teaching and instruction specifically for autistics learning to drive a car.  She is a driving instructor, autism coach, and has more degrees and certificates than I can count.  She completed her Master’s and her PhD AT THE SAME TIME!  Her insights into what we need to know and how to prepare for a diagnosis as an adult will make you stop and think.  This conversation will touch you as she shares her experiences of helping other autistics have a voice in the world and what she is doing now to continue to help every day.  You can find Julia on Facebook at: Julia Pistrucci Malkin-Ren. Trailer
Welcome to the Mind Your Autistic Brain Podcast hosted by The Social Autie, that’s me, Carole Jean.  I’m a late identified, adult autistic.  I didn’t know I was autistic until I was 39.  So that means I spent almost 4 decades struggling to figure out the people and the world around me, constantly asking myself, “what did they mean by what was just said? Why did they do that?”  I just didn’t get it.  I always felt so out of place and lost in the world, until I discovered that I was autistic and my brain just works differently.  What a relief, finally something explained my life and gave me a place to begin finding out who the real me is.  I’ve been on this journey of self discovery as an autistic person for several years now and have learned so much and my life is finally making sense and I have found joy and peace.  Two things I never really had before.  My mission is to share the things I have learned along the way to make your journey of self discovery and better understanding that much shorter.   I didn’t know who or where to turn to for the help I was looking when I began so if you are here, you are ahead of the curve.  I will be sharing as many other autistic voices as I can with you so that if I’m ultimately not the person who you connect with best then you will have the opportunity to find your person here and have a way to reach out and connect. Join me each Wednesday here on the Mind Your Autistic Brain Podcast, as I share the voices, stories and journeys of other late identified, adult autistics.  They will be sharing their thoughts, and experiences  from their autism journeys along with insights and tips to help you on your journey.  I am only one autistic voice and I am seeking out other voices to share with you each week so that you too can find the information and connection we are all seeking. I want you to know you are not alone. We are here together to encourage and share our Autism journeys with one another and learn something new each week.  Be sure to check out the website, socialautie.com,  which gives you all the links to my private FB group, The Socially Intelligent Autistic, where you can access exclusive content, downloads and one on one support all for free.
