Together, we reflect on and harvest the lessons + gifts of growing up Black & Queer in the rural South. Grief is often the hardest part of facing change, whether it's the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job, the loss of a routine, the loss of a friendship, expectation, opportunity or even in some moments a loss of hope. Grief is that tough and persistent teacher greeting us at the door at the top of class to both welcome us in and also check to see if we have completed the assignment, integrated the lessons and done our homework. Graduation day got cancelled...did you know that? Do you feel that...and did you hear me? One of the largest and most significant rights of passage in the Western, and global cultures IS NOT HAPPENING.…and if it was never clear just how much we need human connection, or just how much it serves us to slow down and reflect – now is the time to notice. Count your blessings. Express your gratitudes. Offer a moment of connection to a neighbor, friend, family member or stranger in need. Take time to yourself, without apology. Dive deep into a hobby, interest, your rest, or your grief. And know that while this is a time of uncertainty, there is MUCH to be harvested during this time. The time is NOW. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for!
