Biblical Principles of Growth = #12 The Joseph Principle

Biblical Principles of Growth = #12 The Joseph Principle

•Attending to_organizational and administrative matters will protect and stabilize, and enable it to grow in a healthy way.

•In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the

Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their

widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve

gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to

neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers,

choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and

wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our

attention to prayer and the ministry of the word . . . This proposal pleased

the whole group . . . So the word of God spread . . . (Acts 6:1-4,5,7a).

•But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way (1 Corinthians 14:46).

Who besides yourself handles the administration, finances, and organization of the ministry, family, business, organization? Have you incorporated? Is there a supporting person (bookkeeper, accountant, secretary) outside of the team assisting with this?

Biblical Principles of Growth - #11 Multiplication Principle

Biblical Principles of Growth - #11 Multiplication Principle

Healthy families, churches, businesses, and organizations will

multiply, and growing more outside their boundaries should be envisioned and

planned from the beginning.

•. . .

On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and

all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. . . Those

who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went (Acts 8:1b, 4).

•Some

of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to

speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus (Acts

11:20).

•In

the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called

Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had

been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshipping

the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul

for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed,

they placed their hands on them and sent

them off (Acts 13:1-3).

What is your faith plan for multiplying the ? When do you expect to launch the next home church? neighborhood Bible study? campus? or other extension? Business branch? Organization Branch? Reach and encourage other families? What group of people will it target? Families? teenagers? children? singles?

Biblical Principles of Growth = #10 Balance Principle

Biblical Principles of Growth = #10 Balance Principle

•10. The leader’s spiritual life ,

family life, and ministry life must be in biblical balance.

•He

must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper

respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take

care of God’s church? (1 Timothy 3:4)

•Husbands,

in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with

respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of

life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. (1 Peter3:7).

•Husbands,

love your wives, just as Christ loved

the church and gave himself up for her . . . (Ephesians

5:25).

How does your family enjoy the fruits of the ministry? Are all your expenses covered in blessing your family? How? How do you bless your family on a regular basis?

Biblical Principles of Growth = #9 The Magnet Principle

Biblical Principles of Growth = #9 The Magnet Principle

•When God plants a church, a family, a business, there

should be wide spread community awareness and interest.

•“You

are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do

people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand,

and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your

light shine before men, that they

may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14 –16).

•And

the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:47b).

•Everybody

living in Jerusalem knows . . . “ (Acts 4:16b).

How can you broadcast what you are doing to see a difference?

Biblical Principles of Growth = #8 The Bridge Principle

Biblical Principles of Growth = #8 The Bridge Principle

•8. Understanding (and communicating sensitively to) the hearts and minds of people in the target community is essential to reaching them

effectively with the gospel.

••

To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men

so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of

the gospel, that I may share in its blessings (1 Corinthians 9:22, 23)

be involved and aware of development

Family, business, koinonia church, etc.. need to focus on being aware and alert to the needs and emotions of those they want to reach.

What are the top five needs in your community/family that relate to the mission of your focus?

Biblical Principles of Growth = #7 Leadership Principle

Biblical Principles of Growth = #7 Leadership Principle

7. Leadership Development lies at the heart of the new church’s, family, organization, business

mission, and the most important leadership quality to develop is

_______SPIRITUAL_____________ maturity.

• See 1 Timothy 3:1- 13; Titus

1:6 – 9.

• It was he who gave some to be

apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors

and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of

Christ may be built up . . . (Ephesians 4:11,12).

• And the things you have heard

me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also

be qualified to teach others (2 Timothy

2:2).

• See 1 Timothy 3:1- 13; Titus

1:6 – 9.

What are your current spiritual disciplines to keep your self faithful the heart of Christ? Daily prayer? Daily Devotion? Daily Time of Praise? Listening to other leaders? Serving in a ministry of the congregation? What is it that you do

Biblical Principles of Growth = #6 The Mission

Biblical Principles of Growth = #6 The Mission

6. The______central_____________work of a

Christ follower will always be to help people put their trust in Christ, and grow into

maturity as His followers.

• Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been

given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in

the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them

to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to

the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:18–20).

In what ways does your ministry/family/business/organization currently reach out to people outside of your services and in what ways do you plan to add?

Biblical Principles of Growth = #5 The Team Leader

Biblical Principles of Growth = #5 The Team Leader

5. The leader is most effective as part of a team

•  In the church at Antioch there

were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of  Cyrene,

Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While

they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for

me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they

had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off (Acts

13:1 -3).

•  Paul and Barnabas appointed

elders for them in each church and with prayer and fasting, committed them to

the Lord, in whom they had put their trust (Acts 14:23).

God moves through appointed leaders.

Someone is the final say, the point person in a home, business,

organization, church.

Biblical Principles of Growth - #4 The Baranbus Principle - Mentors and Life Coaches

Biblical Principles of Growth - #4 The Baranbus Principle - Mentors and Life Coaches

4. Every leader needs a mentor / discipler.

•  Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to

look for Saul, and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole

year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people.

The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch (Acts 11:25, 26).

•  He came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived, whose mother

was a Jewess and a  believer, but whose

father was a Greek. The brothers at Lystra and Iconium spoke well of him. Paul

wanted to take him along on the journey, so he circumcised him because of the

Jews who lived in that area, for they all knew that his father was a Greek

(Acts 16:1-3).

It would be great if we could just read a Bible and get it. That rarely works. Self centered folks will tell you all you need is a Bible and Jesus. Jesus comes with family. He has a koinonia church ready for you and mentors to help.

Who is your mentor or life coach? Have you discussed a regular time of review

Biblical Principles of Growth = #3 The Nehemiah Principle

Biblical Principles of Growth = #3 The Nehemiah Principle

3. God’s vision must lead to prayerful planning

the result of which should be a comprehensive TaskList set out upon a TimeLine.

•  I will stand at my watch and

station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and

what answer I am to give to this complaint.” Then the Lord replied: Write down

the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.

(Habakkuk. 2:2-3)

•  “All this,” David said, “I have

in writing from the hand of the LORD upon me, and he gave me understanding in

all the details of the plan” 1 Chronicles 28:19).

•  Commit to the LORD whatever you

do, and your plans will succeed (Proverbs 16:3)

•  Surely the Sovereign LORD does

nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets (Amos 3:7).

•  “Suppose one of you wants to

build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he

has enough money to complete it?” (Luke 14:28)

•  We should make plans . . .

counting on God to direct us. (Proverbs 16:9 TLB)

•  For want of a skillful strategy

an army is lost; victory is the fruit of long planning  (Proverbs 11:14 NEB).

Many of us resist planning. Quit resisting. Get busy with it. Put pencil to paper or type notes on your smart phone or computer. But get it done.

What are the first five steps of your plan?

Biblical Principles of Growth - #2 The Prayer Principle

Biblical Principles of Growth - #2 The Prayer Principle

2. Prayer is the indispensable source of God’s power and wisdom in each

stage of development.

•  Devote yourselves to prayer,

being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for

our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in

chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly,

as I should (Colossians 4:2-4, emphasis added).

•  “Ask the Lord of the harvest,

therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matthew. 9:38).

Too often we think of prayer as what we do when all else fails. Quite the opposite. All will fail without prayer. Get on your knees and listen to His voice.

Write a prayer in your journal right in your notes in this course. Share as a discussion if you would like.

Biblical Principles of Growth = #1 The Boss Principle -

Biblical Principles of Growth = #1 The Boss Principle -

1. Christ is the LORD of all planting and growth. Beginning to end, He has a vision

for you, your business, your family, your ………

•  And God placed all things under

his (Christ’s) feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the

church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every

way (Ephesians.1:22, 23).

•  And he [Christ] is the head of

the body, the church . (Colossians 1:18)

•  During the night Paul had a

vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia

and help us.” After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for

Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.  ( Acts 16:9-10)

Take a few minutes to consider how this applies to your life right now and make a decision to follow through on writing down His vision for your life, family, business or other area to which He has called you to lead.

Write out your commitment in your own words. Include the scriptures that you think are relevant.
