Episode 5 - Johan Lindquist
This week John and Bekah interview Social Anthropologist Johan Lindquist from Stockholm University. We talk Indonesian click farms, the Billy Bookcase and all things IKEA. Johan Lindquist is Professor and the Head of the Department of Social Anthropology at Stockholm University. Most of his research has been conducted in Indonesia, where he has studied migrant lives in an export processing zone, labor recruitment for international migration, and most recently the market for fake Instagram followers. Johan has also made a documentary film based on his research, has collaborated with John Freyer on projects dealing with IKEA, and was in the fall of 2019 an "interpreter" in Tino Sehgal’s work This Progress, which opened Stockholm University’s exhibition space Accelerator.

Erin is the VP of Integrated Marketing at the online retail juggernaut thredUP, the founder of of the award winning clothing line Hygge and the proud owner of John's “Let’s Bowl” belt buckle that she bought from him 20 years ago during John’s internet art project All My Life for Sale. We talk about our 2020 Spotify Wrapped lists, the elusive missing A in thredUP and about an obscure Swedish composer that somehow topped John’s Spotify Wrapped.

Bobby Previte is a composer and performer whose work explores the nexus between notated and improvised music. One of the seminal figures of the 1980s New York ‘Downtown’ scene, Previte is the recipient of the 2015 Greenfield Prize for music and was a Guggenheim Foundation Fellow in 2012. He has received multiple awards for composition from the NEA, NYFA, NYSCA, New Music USA, The Jerome Foundation, The New York State Music Fund, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and the American Music Center. Mr. Previte has been an artist-in-residence at the Rockefeller Foundation in Bellagio, Italy, Civitella Ranieri, The Montalvo Arts Center, The Hermitage Artist Retreat, and nine times at the MacDowell Colony.

Episode 2 - KEMI AKINOLA of BE ENRICHED
Kemi Akinola the CEO of Be-Enriched, one of the founders of the Brixton People’s Kitchen, and she’s the Labour & Co-operative Councillor in Wandsworth (a real life politician) - John met Kemi in 2018 when he did a project at Tate Exchange at Tate Modern in London where John's Free Hot Coffee Bike and Kemi's Brixton People's Kitchen Bike served hundreds of cups of coffee and more than 250 meals on Level 5 of the Blavatnik Building in London.
