Memphis electronic musician Jack Alberson fiercely loves two things: obsessing over his favorite songs, and sharing them with the world. On the Jack Alberson SongStory, Jack is doing just that - and talking to the original writer/performer behind each inspiring masterpiece.
Jack talks with Chris Connelly about growing up in the UK in the 1970s, his early days in Fini Tribe, visiting Chicago and never leaving, and the circumstances leading to the creation of his debut solo record, Whiplash Boychild. He performs the opening track from the album, "Daredevil".
Jack discusses "First Incision", the first track on the first Satisfact album (The Unwanted Sounds of Satisfact), with vocalist/guitarist/synth player Matt Steinke. A rarely heard early four-track recording of the song is featured after the interview.
Jack talks to Robert Poss from NYC noise rockers Band of Susans about their song "All the Wrong Reasons" from their debut album Hope Against Hope. Robert mixed a new version of the song and later in the episode breaks down some of the song's individual layers.
The goal, as always, is to give an educational and passionate glimpse into the songwriting and music creation process.
Jack talks to his old friend and collaborator J.D. Reager about a rocker from J.D.'s debut solo record, The Repechage (2009). J.D. also debuts an exclusive new recording of the track. His music is available on Spotify, Apple Music, etc., as well as at http://jdreager.bandcamp.com.
