Peaks and Modelo

Peaks and Modelo

On this next episode I have a guest by the name of Frank Rojas his name on Instagram is frank_e_rojas4 give him a follow. We are podcasting at the top of Monserate Mountain trail. We met about 3 years ago on Instagram and then finally hiked together last year on September 11. Holy shit, he made me laugh then and made me laugh even more on this podcast. He caught my attention with some of his hiking photos. He gets up at 2 or 3 am and loves catching the sunrise and being above the clouds. Not only that, but he is just such a funny guy and never forgets to pack his Modelo Especial. Find out how he keeps those suckers so cold. It was hard for me not to laugh every minute. I had no idea what type of work he did and its pretty impressive and such an important job. He describes himself as a very reserved person. But, after a couple beers though, he loosens up a bit. Find out who his inner celebrity is and what his intro song would be @monica_crayolla. Find out how us little people look from way up there @monsterrrtattt. For those of you that know Frank, you know what I’m talking about. Frank definitely has a passion for the outdoors. Find out what ALV means @socal_hillibillies. Listen for shout outs at the end! I hope that one day you get to meet Frank and hike with him, well maybe….Anyways, crack those beers open and relax and enjoy this episode! "It's Modelo time". (I do not own the rights to this quote.) TCT (Trans-Catalina Trail) 2021

TCT (Trans-Catalina Trail) 2021

Come and relive my first solo hike with me! I trekked 38.5 miles over a period of 4 nights and 5 days on this beautiful Island known as Santa Catalina. One of the nine Channel Islands here in California. This was a very emotional backpacking trip for me. Thinking that I may not be able to finish it. You will get to hear me sob a little. You will also get to hear why I did this hike solo, how I booked my campsites, my preparation, the gear I used, tips and advice. I saved the best for last, which is the interviews I did on several backpackers and two of them were solo female hikers. One of the greatest things I witnessed on this trail was that one of my new trail friends, (Winter), received some amazing news. She passed her CPA exam! So, congratulations to you Winter! Shout outs to Marian @skywaytofreedom, Winter @wynnie_rose, Erina @queenhart, Amy @amy_dodson, Donna, Michael, Michelle @michhyam, Kristina @kristinacge23. Amazing people I met. You will need to listen to their interview. Once you listen to my story and then theirs, you will get a better perspective on Trans-Catalina and then decide for yourself if you will attempt this trail yourself one day!

Hiking to the peak to enjoy our drink at Volcan Mountain

Hiking to the peak to enjoy our drink at Volcan Mountain

Eddie's first San Diego six pack of peaks challenge. We started pretty late in the morning, it was hot and lots of bugs. We talk about the location of Volcan Mountain and nearby Volcan Mountain Winery. Parking, time capsule location and interesting facts about the Winter Solstice. Listen as we take you on our F'N hiking journey to the top and enjoy amazing views of the Pacific and desert. At the peak, we enjoy our Libations. We make Micheladas, drink Buenaveza Lager and Scorpian Bowl IPA from Stone Brewery and get a scam call from SDGE! Shout out to Joel and Rosie Davis for the hook up! Shout out to recent tags! We discuss the other San Diego Peaks and Eddie's next peak challenge choice. Stopped off at Dudley's Bread for some yummy sandwiches.

Wild Horse Trail and Snakes and Shit!

Wild Horse Trail and Snakes and Shit!

Listen while I prep a Michelada and give some pointers on what type of mix to use and how to prep your cup. Hiking in Temecula, California. I did not make it to the Peak. Ran into two snakes and got video of them. I should have stuck with the first trail. It never fails, my dad calls me during my hike. Had my Michelada at the top enjoying the views. This trail is partially shaded and lots of bugs. Located inside a campground. Campground is open for use. Some cuss words are used. Shout outs to recent tags. All Women group event coming up and new flat brim hats coming out today!

Hiking to eat Julian pie and podcasting with my granddaughter, Aaliyah

Hiking Santa Ysabel Preserve West with my 5 year old granddaughter. Listen on her perspective on wearing a mask and staying safe. She has some funny opinions on what she would do if she saw a snake. She talks about her favorite part of the hike. We share some delicious strawberry/boysenberry pie. Hiked 2 miles out of 5.6 miles due to tired little feet.

Hiking with Eddie and where the cows roam free. Shout out to Chaka 805. Getting F'N scared from a snake and a lizard. You will hear from chirping birds to bees and rattle snakes! Eddie and I have our differences on bees and rattle snake sounds. Sharing our libations at the top, enjoying our picnic while watching the cows watching us. Meet and greet a few hikers with masks. How we handled our social distancing. Thank you Connie for your input. It was a great F'N Hike!

9 mile hike with only 2 F'N Beers at Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve

Nice to open up with some Stick Figure Music. This is dedicated to my sister Maggie and my friend Christina. The day we hiked 9 miles and Maggie was supposed to bring the Bloody Mary's and showed up empty handed. Luckily, I packed two beers! Our hike was at Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve located in San Diego, California. Features a waterfall and a museum. This is were I got the idea of wanting to become a Park Ranger.

I talk about what I did to prepare myself to get a spot and our hiking journey through the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. so many waterfalls to die for!
