ABOUT BEYONDTHEHYPEMAN AKA OFTN

BeyondTheHypeman aka OFTN (OPEN FOR THE NIGHT) is inspiration. The Toronto native is an artist and creator, who uses Hip Hop and R&B to paint a vivid midnight scene as a medium, and focuses on creating spaces for meditation and freethought through his music. BeyondTheHypeman is highly influenced by R&B artists PARTYNEXTDOOR and Frank Ocean, and within hip hop Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Mick Jenkins are the foundation for his rapping style. His sound embodies Hip Hop while mixing contemporary R&B, soul, and trap soul; all while relating back to his stories on falling in love, his journey of ascending into the rap world, and navigating his identity inside Toronto’s music scene. As a Grenadian descendant, OFTN is among the first generation of his family to be born and raised in Canada: within his music exploring his Caribbean heritage, Blackness, spirituality, and existing as a visibly Black man. This story is just the beginning, BeyondTheHypeman is one to watch.
