Have you been feeling reallllly pulled to do something, but keep finding yourself bailing on all of your ideas before you can turn any of them into reality? It's almost as if you can hear one voice deep in your mind telling to GO FOR IT + finally bring your dreams to life, just before another voice creeps in + convinces you that you'd fail at it, or that whatever dreams you've got would blow up in your face as a major bust. depression depression depression. I just wanted to say it a few times because it's constantly avoided for being SUCH a damn taboo topic + word. I always knew depression was a topic that this growing community (and I) needed to chat more on, but I was never quite sure how I could do such an intensely felt head space + emotional-roller-coastery feeling any justice. especially when it's so different in it's mental, emotional, + physical manifestations from human to human. so I brainstormed the best way I know how: I took notes down while I worked my way through my own depressive bout, + then I asked my listeners to weigh in about how their depression looks + feels for THEM. this episode will leave you with takeaways + new perspectives whether you're someone who feels like you're navigating your depression alone, or you're a human who loves another human who goes through their own struggles with depression, + you're desperate to learn how to love + see them better. I think the secret to learning to live with the ebbs + flows of our mental health is learning to talk about it out loud with the supportive humans in our lives. sure it may not always come out making sense the first or second time, but when it does, the result will be a growth point for you + your support system.

After high school, Brandon left the state to attend college in the Quad Cities, + before long, took off for the PNW (Pacific Northwest) where he's still lucky enough to call Seattle home. We dove into all sorts of questions + fears you might have when deciding whether or not a big move is right for you, + most importantly, we cover all sorts of tips + tricks to help you maintain long-distance friendships with your loved ones on this wild roller-coaster ride called life. I want you to think about what you scroll through on a regular basis, + what kind of messages + ideals the brands you spend your money on are putting out into the world (+ therefore into YOU). Do most of the men + women you're seeing look like you? + those messages that the brands or humans you follow are putting out-- do they align with what you were raised around, or what your life looks like now, or do they reflect other views that help you stretch your mind a bit? This week's episode dives into a variety of topics that center around one deeper focus: how things become our "norm," + how we can become responsible consumers of content + messages that are constantly being put out into the world, so we can learn to shift our perspectives + see ourselves + others through a more wholesome lens. The biggest takeaway? Life is hard, + there are constantly different messages being pushed at us left + right, but we have the ability to control what we take in, + HOW we want to do it. HOW we want to see ourselves + the humans around us. When we learn to do alllla that, in a way that serves our heads + our hearts, we end up comin' out on top.
