the millennial dating crisis

the millennial dating crisis

It's no secret that there is a millennial dating crisis that's causing a lot of stress, anxiety, and frustration for singles all over the world. With the combination of the ever-changing dating landscape, the rise of online dating apps, and the lack of time for meaningful relationships, it's no wonder so many singles have given up on love and lost hope. During this week's Soul Work Session we will unpack why dating can feel so difficult, strategies to cope with feelings like frustration and loneliness, and learn about toxic behaviors that may show up during the dating phase.

Give Up The Role of Being Over-Responsible

Give Up The Role of Being Over-Responsible

This Soul Work Session is for anyone that self-identifies as the “Responsible One." It’s for anyone that feels overly-responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It’s for anyone that says sorry all the time, even when they’ve done nothing wrong. It’s for anyone that feels like they “should” know better. It’s for anyone that believes if anything "bad" happens it's ultimately their fault. And lastly, it's for anyone that struggles with a need for control over situations and outcomes.

Let's Talk About Meds with Dr. Izekor.

Let's Talk About Meds with Dr. Izekor.

Are you reluctant or afraid to try or continue taking medication? If so, the reluctance is completely understandable. Although, antidepressants are commonly prescribed to treat depression and anxiety related disorders, most people don't know much about them and how they work. Join me and our guest co-host, Dr. Uwa Izekor, a Psychiatry Resident from the University of Buffalo, as we briefly discuss antidepressants and other medications that treat mental illnesses. This episode is to not persuade anyone to take medication or an advertisement for a particular antidepressant, drug, or pill. My hope is that everyone can increase their understanding and make more informed decisions concerning their overall health and well-being.

And while I hope you enjoy listening, please remember this podcast is not  a substitute for a diagnosis or the treatment of a mental health condition. Please consult a physician or your mental health provider regarding any advice for your mental health and overall well-being.

Let's Talk About Seasonal Depression.

Let's Talk About Seasonal Depression.

For most people, the fall and winter months are a joyous time of year filled with cooler weather, comfy sweaters, beautiful autumn leaves, snuggles by the fire place, and just all around holiday cheer. But... for others the fall and winter months often trigger unpleasant emotion, withdrawn behavior, a lack of motivation, and other depressive symptoms. In fact, this type of depression is called Seasonal Affective Disorder, also known as seasonal depression. Join me and our guest co-host, Marjorie Brown, the Assistant Director of Embrace Counseling and Wellness, as we briefly discuss seasonal depression and ways to cope and manage the symptoms.

If you are triggered by this discussion of seasonal depression, please consider not listening to this episode or listening with  a loved one who can support you. And while I hope you enjoy listening, please remember this podcast is not  a substitute for a diagnosis or the treatment of a mental health   condition. Please consult a physician or your mental health provider  regarding any advice for your mental health and overall well-being.

Not Right Now, Not Like This.

Anxiety and panic attacks aren't dangerous, but they can be really frightening. I'ss quite common for people to visit the emergency room for anxiety related disorders and panic attacks, especially if their symptoms are severe and persistent. Join me and our guest co-hosts, Jeffrey Okonye, Pediatric ER Physician and Ebonii Nelson, the "Anxiety Specialist", as we discuss the differences between anxiety and panic attacks and the ways to manage and cope with them.

If you are triggered by this discussion of panic and anxiety attacks, please consider not listening to this episode or listening with a loved one who can support you.

Gentle, Gentle.

Gentle, Gentle.

Most of us don’t make a habit of showing ourselves compassion. We tend to be kinder and more compassionate towards others and highly critical and judgmental towards ourselves. Join me and our guest co-host, Lea Lester, the "Adulting Therapist", as we discuss how being gentle with yourself and living a “soft life” can improve your mental health and overall well-being.
