Black Kids Who Care (BKWC) is a community of young individuals who have created a social presence on different media platforms in response to racism and police brutality in America against the Black community. It was primarily started by three teenagers, Lola Barris, William Bigby and Piper Porter who are all LA natives in order to spread awareness, get the black youth involved, and to give back to their community.

According to the We are Family Foundation, only 3% of Tanzania’s students remain in school for the final two years of their education, and the student to teacher ratio is very high, making it extremely difficult for teachers to focus on individual attendance and performance. Experiencing this issue in her classroom and knowing what the harm of skipping school is in her community, Doreen Micheal, a 17-year-old native of Tanzania, specifically Dar es Salaam, decided to take action through tech. She developed Renotify, a website in which the goal is to increase student retention in schools. Let’s hop into the conversation I had with Doreen on her background and the process she went and currently goes through with Renotify.

As BBC news reported in 2017, Nigeria has the largest number of children out of school in the world - roughly 10.5 million. The education ministry’s permanent secretary said those that were most affected were girls, street children, and the children of nomadic groups. This is the outcome of minimal funding that the public education system receives as well as the government’s disregard for general human development. Realizing and living through this truth, Daniel Drake Jr who grew up in the slums in Lagos, Nigeria knew he needed to do something to help give street children a future in which they can earn a steady income and uplift Nigeria economically and socially. Thus, Daniel started Teens for Change which led him to become one of 33 global teen leaders.

Pancreatic cancer has a survival rate that is lower than 7% and is the cause of 100’s of thousands of deaths every year. It is also one of the most overlooked cancers yet is projected to be the deadliest within the coming years. Aware of these statistics, Harsh Agrawal, a 16year old from India and 1 of 33 Global teen Leaders, set out to create a solution. His solution - CancerEx, the only non-invasive method to test the presence of that cancer in patients.

You may have heard about the projected Mission to Mars in 2030. Well in this episode, we have 19-year-old Alyssa Carson, who is likely to be on that very mission. Just take a look at her stats, - Alyssa was selected as one of seven ambassadors representing Mars One, a mission to establish a human colony on Mars. In October of 2016, Alyssa was the youngest to be accepted and graduate from the Advanced Possum Academy, officially making her certified to go to space and the youngest astronaut in training. By now you may have heard of Avi Schiffmann. Way back when no one, not even governments were that concerned about the spread of COVID-19, 17 yr old Avi Schiffmann, who at the time was a junior in high school took it upon himself to create a COVID-19 tracking website ncovid2019.live. Within a matter of months the website grew insanely large attracting more than 700 million people from all over the world. Cut to now, Avi was recently on the Daily Show with Trevor Noah, featured on Bloomberg, won the Person of the Year award at the Webby Awards and quite frankly is all over the internet.

Jonathan Javier and his initiative with Wonsulting has created a great deal of light within these uncertain times of the coronavirus pandemic.
