Hot Seat - Season 1 Finale

Hot Seat - Season 1 Finale

Episodes with music are only available on Spotify.

Join us (Marty the Robot and DJ^4) for our last live episode of the academic year. We asked our listeners to ask us ANYTHING, and we answered all of the questions that they asked us. We also answered some questions from the NYT Modern Love section's famous 36 Questions to Fall in Love. And with that, as all good things must, our season concludes.

Please send us recommendations for topics we should cover, guests we should talk to, and activities we should do on the show. Email us at wybcx.saveitfornow@gmail.com.

Thank you so much for listening.

Aired live on WYBCxYale Radio on May 14th, 2021.

John Day, High School Teacher

John Day, High School Teacher

Episodes with music are only available on Spotify.

In our final education interview (for now), listen to our conversation with John Day, a history teacher at Yellow Springs High School. He talks about his experience with Project-based Learning, teaching during the pandemic, and his thoughts on what and how public schools can do better.

We highly recommend listening to both of the previous education interviews in this sequence (with Alex Kolokotronis and Sarah Fine) before listening to this one, because those interviews will provide valuable context for this conversation.

Sarah Fine, Educator and Scholar

Join us for our second of three education-related interviews. Hear Sarah talk about project-based learning, the goals and operations of her program, and her ideas on how public schools and teachers nationwide can do a better job at supporting young people.

Alexander Kolokotronis, Political Scientist

Alexander Kolokotronis, Political Scientist

Episodes with music are only available on Spotify.

In our first of three interviews with educators, hear Alexander Kolokotronis, a Political Science PhD student at Yale, discuss democratic power and teacher unions in New Haven during the 1960's and 1970's, and the implications that period carries for our current public school system. In his own work, Alex studies the comparative analysis of anti-state and anarchist revolutions for the purposes of uncovering conceptions and implementations of post-state forms of governance and public power, as well as associationist self-managed socialism.

Bonus points if you can pinpoint the transition in the interview where our very own Peter Day vomited off-mic.
