This is a special practice dedicated to health care workers, fire fighters, or anyone who is struggling to get to their mat.  I have friends who are working long days at the hospital, parents who are weary from online school at home, and I've been hearing students say they just don't have time or energy to get to their mat.  This episode is for you.  It is also for anyone who has an injury and can't manage a downward dog or chaturanga.  It is for anyone who needs a gentle wakeup, or a gentle way to let go of your day and head to sleep.  The practice ends with me leading you into savasana and for you to stay as long as you would like.  Be gentle with yourself.  Thank you to all of you heroes, keep our lives and properties safe.   Namaste, Amelia Andaleon *************************************** Thank you for tuning in! This is a gentle yoga practice focused on tadasana, mountain pose. The intention of this simple sequence is to invite a sense of stability through an engagement of the whole body in mountain pose. Through the focus on the anatomy you are invited to be intentional in creating the physical posture of each pose. This is an energizing and relaxing practice, for any time of the day, suitable for all levels. A gentle short flow follows tadasana with a few half sun salutations, then on to your back for gentle twists, savasana and final meditation to complete your practice. Black Lives Matter - listening and learning
My unscripted, transparent, in the moment thoughts on racism, and police brutality, from me, a POC (person of color), Asian-American. I'm not an expert or authority on Black Lives Matter and I've been listening and learning, to be better and do better. I share my thoughts on why SOME of the yoga community SEEMED to be quiet during BLM. And, wrap up with a 8:46 silent meditation in honor of George Floyd. 🙏🏽 I admit this unscripted episode is not polished but, it's me talking to you, freestyle. I might edit down the road but right now it's me being honest and sometimes rambly, with the intention to share ideas and resources to support Black Lives Matter. I find myself admitting I was both on the receiving end of racial slurs and born into a family who was sometimes racist. And, while I wanted to share honest examples of racism I was not proud to speak aloud, I share how it's possible to do a u-turn from unfair judgment to acceptance. Shining light on the darkness, instead of ignoring the problems, is a step towards transformation. Just because you sweep those dust bunnies under the couch doesn't mean the dirt is gone. It's time to awaken and be courageous enough to look where the dirt is hiding. 60 min Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga - starting with core and adding HIIT to stoke the inner fire.
Live recording from May 13, 2020 class for Baptiste Power Yoga San Francisco. 60 min rigorous Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga - starting with core in beginning of class and adding HIIT (high intensity interval training) with mountain climbers to stoke the inner fire. This class is best suited for experienced yogis. AND, anyone is welcome to this practice. Baptiste Power Yoga is traditionally practiced in a 90-95 degree room without music. You're welcome to add heat in your practice space to ramp up the sweat and detox. As an option, I have included a playlist for your background music throughout the class starting with the first "song" named "Silent Track", which is 4 min of silence. Meditate to ease anxiety during this pandemic and invite peace & calm. Option to use essential oils.
Week 9, phase 2 of shelter in place, and corona fatigue might be kicking in where you're just getting fed up with this pandemic. I'm here to tell you I get it, I'm frickin' tired of this too, and I encourage you to hang in there, that we can do it together. And, to offer this meditation to ease anxiety and worry and invite peace and calm. As an option, I also invite you to use the doTerra Adaptiv essential oil to enhance your meditation. Yoga nidra to dispel fear and invite deep sleep (essential oils optional)
The recent announcement to extend shelter in place another month in California felt like someone moving the finish line further away, like the proverbial pandemic carrot got f#in yanked away. The struggle is real. For me, to stay spiritually fit is to trust in a higher truth especially when tempted to give up, collapse in a heap of worry, eat emotions (please no more carbs!), or lose sleep numbing out with Netflix . So many of us are not sleeping well right now and it’s one of our most effective ways to keep our body, mind and spirit fit. When sleep-deprived we can succumb to self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors. Keep the course to self-care. I offer this yoga nidra to invite a deep rest, to release fear and trust that you are safe, now and in the future. As an option, I also mention essential oils to enhance your yoga nidra. Consider using lavender, peppermint, cinnamon, black spruce, or any other oils with the properties to dispel fear. Breathe deep and slow and relax the entire body. "Get curious, not furious" is a powerful mantra in this 15 minute meditation to shift emotionally charged reactions from a state of stress to peace and calm. Use this meditation as a tool to break the habit of lashing out with undesirable words or behaviors, towards others or towards yourself.
