Sure there's no mention of Christmas or December within the run-time of 2016's The Autopsy of Jane Doe but it was released within the month of December. That's gotta count for something! Tommy and his son Austin run a family coroners business out of their home. One day late at night they receive a mysterious corpse from the scene of a brutal homicide. The sheriff absolutely needs to learn the cause of death by tonight. No problem for the experienced duo. However, strangeness is the order of the day almost immediately. With no obvious signs of trauma the cause of death isn't so clear. As the autopsy goes on they are left with seemingly more questions. Who is this girl? How did she die? The night will bring storms, terror and more death. You see what becomes obvious is Jane Doe fell victim to a horrible nightmare and that nightmare is far from over.

Over time the bodies start to increase and a scared and outraged town go on a manhunt. However, all signs point to the impossible, a werewolf. Marty is the only one who's seen it gets the help of his sister and Uncle Red. They have precious little time before the next full moon and everyone in town is suspect. Can they discover who is changing to a murderous wolf at night before it strikes again? Or will the town tear itself apart with suspicion and fear before the wolf has a chance to.

INTEC has genetically altered these cockroaches in hopes of destroying the pests once and for all but instead, because of their meddling, has created a hungry swarm that thrives on meat! Humans, pets and wildlife start vanishing and it's up to the last survivors of the island to make it through the night while help arrives. However, a voracious appetite was only the beginning. The cockroaches are mutating further and becoming something else entirely. Something almost human.

You see, although the town is quaint and the people friendly, the town harbors a dark past that involves a woman named Elly Kedward. Known more commonly as the Blair Witch. Upon Heather's insistence the trio head to the woods for a few shoot locations. However, soon it becomes obvious that they are hopelessly lost. Scared and desperate the group runs out of food, water and patience with eachother. Worst yet, the night brings with it howling voices, cackling and the sounds of children. Dead Air Ep 99 - Scarecrows
Bale some hay and break out your tin snips. Wes and Lydia get stuffed on Episode 99 of the Dead Air Podcast, with the 1988 film; Scarecrows. A paramilitary group robs a base of 3.5 million dollars and after hijacking a plane they are set to fly off to spend their fortune. However, a betrayal by one of their own sees them find their way to a strand abandoned farmhouse that's surrounded by scarecrows. It's a race against time to find their money and get back to the skies. Soon though, their traitorous friend shows up stuffed with straw, not alive but but quite dead and it becomes obvious that these scarecrows are more than just decoration. Can they escape with their lives against an increasing horde of sack-boys with sickles or will they soon be strung up like the rest?

Dead Air Ep 95 - Lights Out
Somebody hit the lights! Wes and Lydia tackle a fan requested film in the form of the 2016 horror hit; Lights Out. Rebecca has growing concerns as her younger brother Martin seems to be unable to stay awake in class. Moreover, he seems absolutely resolute about no longer staying with their mother, Sophie, in her home. He speaks of Diana, a name Rebecca also remembers from her own childhood. Poor Diana only wants a friend. Unfortunately Sophie seems to fit the bill. Not only is Diana a creepy presence with a phobia of photons, she has razor sharp claws, superhuman strength and one bad attitude. It seems their mother never lost a playmate from her own troubled youth and as they try to free her from Diana's vice like grip, the shadowy presence becomes increasingly violent. Bloody will flow, eyes will be gouged and bodies will pile up. All in the name of friendship, and family.

Get comfortable because we're about to inject a soothing dose of Dead Air in to your veins. George Romero; the master of the the undead takes a break from the rotting hordes of the "Dead series" and gives us the 1978 film, Martin. Martin is a non-traditional vampire with a real edge. A razors edge! Arriving in the strange land of PENNSYLVANIA, Martin has needs of the bloody variety but his watchful uncle has a warning: Kill anyone here and he'll be destroyed like the Nosferatu he is. Forget the fact that Martin can go out in daylight, touch crosses and is immune to all items that would affect a so called vampire. But he does love to drink blood. I guess he's truly in a high stakes exsanguination!

Before he blew our minds with the wildly inventive films like: Pan's Labyrinth, Devil's Backbone and Crimson Peak and busted every block with films like: Blade 2, Hellboy and Pacific Rim, the master of monsters Guillermo Del Toro debuted on the scene with the 1993 film; Cronos. Jesus Gris is a groovy grampa that owns an antique shop that he runs in a seemingly carefree existence with his wife and granddaughter. This simple act sets off an passion and excitement she's never known and as her obsession with death slowly overtakes her life there is little the people in her life can do to understand or sate these urges. Can Jin reconcile her dark past and find peace in life once again, or shall this new interest reach its inevitable end with murder? Also, her bizarre new habits have gotten some very unwanted notice from a mysterious stranger.

Be careful what you "click" for! Pop in your floppies and log on to episode 90 of the Dead Air Podcast! Wes and Lydia enter the forbidden room with 2001's J-horror classic; Pulse. Two stories taking place in Japan simultaneously depict an odd set of occurrences where a member of a group of friends kills himself for no reason. Stranger still there is evidence of people logging on to this new-fangled thing called the internet that reveals a strange feed of various people looking depressed and erratic on webcams. Soon it becomes obvious that the once bustling streets of Japan are becoming vacant and in the place of people there are only ashy black stains. The two tales converge when Michi and Ryo appear to be the only two people left in Japan and maybe even, the world!

Dead Air Ep 89 - Dark Water
Let's get soaking wet! On today's episode of the Dead Air Podcast Wes and Lydia immerse themselves in the 2002 film; Dark Water. Yoshimi is a single mother going through a nasty divorce where she is forced to face off against her unscrupulous ex-husband over the custody of their young daughter, Iku. Between custody hearings, finding a new job and starting Iku at a new kindergarten, it's clear that Yoshimi has enough on her plate, not to mention she's just rented a new apartment. After her and Iku settle in problems arise. Beyond just the intense humidity, the water tastes funny and occasionally has hair in it! Not to mention there is an increasingly expanding leak in her bedroom ceiling. Stranger still amidst one of her daughters uncharacteristic disappearances, Iku seems to have acquired a strange red bag that Yoshimi cannot seem to get rid of. With the building staff completely unwilling to help and increasingly strange events occurring at the property, Yoshimi takes matters in to her own hands and uncovers a horrific story of negligence, innocence and loneliness. Also, Wes talks all about the master of the wet willies; Hideo Nakata as well as the J-horror boom of the early 2000's. Lydia gets real and talks about the disturbing case of Elisa Lam.

We're back and better than ever! It's time to start the New Year right, with the very first episode of Dead Air of 2017! This time we talk about the 1968 fan requested film; Spider Baby. Bruno is the caretaker of a trio of siblings that have an extremely rare disease called; Merrye Syndrome. Upon puberty a person suffering from this syndrome begins to regress mentally until they became feral cannibals. A little murder and mayhem brings notice that they will soon be visited by distant family members with an accompanying lawyer to discuss the families substantial estate. Bruno and the family are on their best behavior but a house full of strangers with an agenda spells death, disaster and destruction, for this deranged, dysfunctional domain.

Dead Air Ep 86 - Black Christmas

On today's episode of the Dead Air Podcast we finally take a look at the grandfather of all slashers, the 1974 film; Black Christmas. Jess and her sorority sisters are packing up and getting ready to head home for the holidays and not even a series of strange vulgar phone calls from a man named "Billy" can spoil their revelry. However, in this picturesque house a creature was stirring and the morning reveals one of the sorority sisters, Clare, has gone missing. Her father, boyfriend and closest friends can't find any trace of her and with news of the disappearance of another local girl the police are just as baffled. Everyone's a suspect as bodies pile up. Black Christmas gave the world the first true slasher. It's a story of murder, mayhem and a tortured killer that's closer than anyone could imagine.

On today's episode of the Dead Air Podcast, Wes and Lyida head up to Eel Marsh house in search of peat bog bodies and instead find the 2012 film; The Woman In Black. Arthur is a mild mannered lawyer and although his life has seen some significant personal tragedy his firm is giving him an ultimatum: close down the Drablow estate, or find a new job. A long trip to the isolated village of Crythin Gifford brings him to the fabled Eel Marsh house but before too long a series of strange events see the local's children dying in uncanny accidents that are more than they appear. All of this would be bad enough but he also has to contend with a baby that looks like a strange creature with an incessant cry. The surrealist film that launched David Lynch's career that has had people talking for decades will be dissected worse than an alien fetus by two people barely qualified to use scissors!

It's time for some anatomically incorrect behavior! Episode 83 of Dead Air will keep you pinned to your seats with the cult classic Canadian film about a cold creepy character that causes cacophonous craze with a medical creation in the 1988 film; Pin. Leon and his sister Ursula seem to have the ideal life. Wealth and status with a successful father but while the family is rich in the conventional sense they're lousy with communication. Enter: Pin - an anatomical medical dummy that the siblings father uses to communicate all sorts of things to. Leon even believes Pin is real and after a tragic accident that left the two without parents Pin has become (as far as Leon is concerned) a full member of the family. Be warned any who would get in the way because they'll find out too late that Pin is no "dummy".

Dead Air Ep 82 - The Entity
Very challenging to do a funny Crypt-Keeper-esque post about this film so I'm not going to try. On today's episode Dead Air tackles the shocking film that's based on a true story; The Entity. Carla is a single mother raising three kids while holding down a job and studying in school when without warning she is sexually assaulted by a seemingly invisible presence. This marks the beginning of a harrowing and brutal account of a woman who's life and family are brought to the brink of absolute terror by a malicious and despicable entity. Dead Air Ep 81 - Psycho
Good evening. On today's tale we take a look at a woman with money issues and a man with mommy issues as Dead Air discuses Alfred Hitchcock's undeniable classic; Psycho. A bit of impulsiveness gets Marion Crane in a boat load of trouble as she steals 40,000 dollars from her employer. Now on the run and headed to her boyfriend in California she makes a little pit stop at the Bates Motel. However, Marion finds out too late that the proprietor of said motel, Norman Bates, is a boy only a mother could love. Even with the help of a private investigator nobody can seem to be able to track down Marion and when the hired help ends up missing - Marion's boyfriend and sister take it upon themselves to confront mild mannered Norman Bates and his mysterious invalid mother.

It's a radical hypno-high all the way to episode 80 of Dead Air where Wes and Lydia take in the 1980 film; Motel Hell. A movie so far out it's got wings! Terry is a regular girl going out for a joyride with her boyfriend Bo when sudden bike trouble leads her to the care of a kindly farmer and his family that run a big farm/ Motel service. Terry recovers and is otherwise unaware that Farmer Vincent is making short work of any would be travelers heading down the lonely road just outside his property then plants them still alive in a nearby secret garden. When Farmer Vincent and Terry grow closer she grows closer to the terrible secret that it does take all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent's fritters!

Soon on their journey they start noticing that their travels have garnered the attention of some not so friendly faces hidden behind masks of the very haunt workers themselves and as they grow ever closer to their destination it becomes obvious that the only thing to fear is ending up dead!

When checking in to the Dolphin Hotel, do yourself a favour and avoid room 1408 unless you plan on packing a body bag! On today's episode of Dead Air, Wes and Lydia turn their keys and enter the 2007 Stephen King Adaptation; 1408. Mike Enslin is a horror author that seems to have a knack for debunking haunted hotels but when he receives a mysterious post card inviting him to room 1408 he finds something far worse than a fearsome apparition. He finds a room that is purely and simply, evil. Ignoring all warnings he finds himself locked within the room as it slowly and effectively dissolves his mind. As time passes and he no longer can discern reality from fantasy it becomes of question of just what will the room show him next? Dead Air Ep 65 - Blood Widow
When throwing a party it's always considerate to inform your neighbors because, when your neighbor is the Blood Widow you're in for more than a noise complaint. It may be April GHOULS day but this episode of Dead Air is no joke. Although, the movie is pretty funny I guess. Wes and Lydia discuss the triumphant return to horror for legendary director Sam Raimi with; Drag Me to Hell. In order to impress her boss for her next big promotion a young, kindhearted loan officers decides to get tough on an elderly woman way behind her mortgage payments. Desperate to stay in her home the old woman begs and pleads but going against her very nature young Christine says no. Angry and humiliated the woman curses her that in three days she will be dragged to hell to be devoured by the demon Lamia. Time is running out for Christine and she must figure out a way to reverse the curse but with her personal and professional life crumbling down around her it's hard to tell where life stops and hell begins. Sam Raimi is true to form in this outrageous, ooey gooey horror comedy.

As Helen gets closer to the truth people start dying and she loses her grip on time and reality itself. Has she gone insane or is something far more sinister at work? This film holds a special place in Wes' heart and you'll hear all about it during the episode. Also, we dive deep in to our hosts past which is apparently filled with unsolved mysteries, irrational fears and something Lydia calls the "Skat Shack."
