Halloween and the ghosts and goblins in the bible!
Today is my special Halloween broadcast! It's October 31st, 2020. You know, we find Evil characters all throughout the bible, even witches!
Did God create evil? What about dualism-here's a topic some may not be familiar with?
The Kingdom of God- A hidden Gem
Today I mention an old friend who I used to work with many years ago when I delivered pizzas who would come in and say, "I found a hidden gem!" I use this statement to reference the Kingdom of God since Christ refers to the Kingdom as treasure hidden in a field. Questions today are, "Is the church and the church only the kingdom, or is there more to it?" Luke definitely says, "The kingdom of God is within you." What does that infer? What are we supposed to look for and in us if we are to truly have "a hidden gem in our lives?"
Campbell's Soup or Progresso Soup...which soup, I mean church, I mean soup, I mean church do you prefer?
I use a funny analogy today regarding the choice of soups to discuss whether we should be progressing or rather remembering Alexander Campbell ideals? Really, are either of them right? Yes, Jesus is the Way, but can we restore the movement of God, or are we where we need to be today? What about great movements in the past? I mention the Boston/Crossroads/ICOC/ICC/sold-out as well as Praise and worship movements. I think I'm asking more questions than giving answers today.
The Dark Night of the Soul (DNS) - When we are SPIRITUALLY depressed and wonder where God is-will he ever abandon us?
I address a topic in this podcast I was first introduced to in the early 90's, the "dark night of the soul (DNS)." Can, does, or will God ever abandon us? Why at times do we feel as though God has left us. Are there biblical examples of God withdrawing from his people?
We choose to go to the moon!
Today's podcast is a shortened version from a sermon I delivered this morning at my local church. It's based off of Kennedy's moon speech, September 12, 1962.
(14 min): Health and Wealth (ministries, preachers, etc). Is there a time for them? Does God ever promise prosperity?
I attempt to address health and wealth today as we discuss health and wealth ministries asking the question, "Does God ever promise us prosperity?" He may not always promise us health and wealth but he definitely states in the beatitudes we can be blessed! There are other definite times in scripture however where he does speak of prosperity!
Episode 14-Religion and Mental Illness-Do some churches promote bad mental health?
Is it possible that some churches promote mental illness? I address 3 types of churches in this
podcast that possibly we should avoid or at least be aware of.
Why Love Jesus if you are Going to Hate Paul?
Ok guys, this one is controversial! I don't have all the answers either! I just wanted to address a post not only by a lady who stated that
"Paul makes me sick!" but an ongoing statement i hear so often that "Paul was opinionated!" Maybe Paul did have opinions of his own
and maybe Paul said some things that were commands of God? I address this in this episode!!
Episode 12-Having a Form of Godliness but Denying its Power
Hi Folks,
In this episode, I address churches or individuals who only have a form of Godliness but deny it's power. No, I am not talking about the miraculous but whether are we denying the power that can make us Godly individuals. In II Timothy, Paul mentions a series of characteristics of individuals whom he states specifically, "Have nothing to do with such people." Maybe it's time to cease with religion, or maybe its time to cast off those who hinder the work of God?
Episode 11 - Jesus is still in the miracle business!
I address miracles in this episode. I believe Jesus is still in the miracle business.
Is it the same way he did it 2000 years ago? We look at cessationism in this podcast
and whether or not the ministries such as apostleships are available today,
but specifically that Jesus power is available to us when 2 or 3 or gathered in his name!
Episode 10-So you don't have to be baptized to be saved? Well, maybe not, and this from a member of the Churches of Christ (but please listen for my explanation!)
Controversial Title I know! As a member of the church who grew up in the Churches of Christ, I give a short debate about circumstances
about whether a person can be saved without baptism. I discuss Jesus words though when he used the word "Proper" as meaning to undergo baptism out of respect for God as Jesus words give us insight into an idea that God did initiate this act. I also discuss Acts 2:38 which we in our churches have left out our denominational brethren over implications only. Are implications even scriptural?
Episode 9 - The Church - Hippocrits or not?
So, here we are with episode 9. I address in this episode Paul and his expulsion of members who are immoral and whether
today in the church we have the rights to do this as well. Actually, in my denomination this is practiced, but the question of the hour is, do we have the same rights as Paul? Maybe we do, maybe we don't, as he was an apostle, but definitely the world will never see a difference if the church is immoral. Some of this was brought to attention in the broadcast by Romans 2. Definitely though, not everyone in the Corinth church was expelled as they had many sin problems, but the question is, "Are you struggling with sin, or do you not give a rip?' And in the in, really, all of us need to be disfellowshipped; we are all here as sinners in need of a merciful God.
Episode 8-Cognitive vs. Emotional Christianity-Faith vs Works
I attempt to explore in Episode 8 cognitive Christians vs emotional Christians as well as introversion and extroversion. I also explore James in the Bible as we talk about Faith vs. Works.
Episode 7-Humanism in the Church
I attempt to address humanism in today's churches. Are we allowing God to work or are we interfering by 'setting out on our own?' God can go to work only when we as mentioned in the podcast, "Give up!"
Episode 5-Unity amongst all the churches; Are we approved of God?;Can we agree on our differences?
I especially would like my listeners to hone in on this broadcast. I am addressing unity in the church in light of differences that we may have as believers. God may or may not approve of us, and definitely 1 Corinthians states that there have to be differences to show which of us has God's approval. There are many different types of churches out there and some "Power Churches (not mega churches, but churches which believe in the power of God to do wonders and miracles)" which i address in the broadcast. Maybe it's time to stop judging by mere appearances and accept each other and possibly learn from each other.
Episode 4- The role of counseling in the church
I delve into issues in this broadcast that the church is addressing in some parts as to why counselors have to mediate
to eastern religious practices and as to really whether or not the church and Christians themselves should use either 1) the Word of God or 2) counseling. Can these coexist or has the church or is the church wanting to isolate Christians to only the Word verses counseling practices which are mainly theoretical based and whose authors are sometimes atheist or humanistic?
Podcast 3- Goals of the Neptune Project- Freedom in Christ
This is my 3rd episode of the Neptune Project. Hopefully, you will find solace and encouragement that i am trying to convey here on
this project a place for everyone who has an ear to hear words that promote freedom in Christ. This podcast was an attempt to further expound on
this project and to allow more of a broader audience as I am not trying to offend anyone but am allowing a place for people to discover for
themselves whether i speak the truth or not. I hit on several ideas briefly in this episode that you may want to hear. Thank you for recent support.
* i apologize for the bumper music not playing at the end of the last 2 episodes....i'm working the bugs out.
What does it mean to have a "Dirty Faith?"
Can we really hold fast to teachings, doctrines, and traditions handed down to us that are not our own?
Have we believed things our pastors and teachers as well as parents and teachers have told us just because they "must be true?"
This episode of The Neptune Project explores having a "Dirty Faith" and how the Bereans in acts were more noble in discerning what
Paul, even an apostle, would have to teach them. The Bereans definitely studied the scriptures on their own to discover the facts before
setting out on a faith journey not founded by the truth.
Project Neptune-Intro to myself and future podcasts-faith and background
Project Neptune began as an idea from my old astronomy days. I am using Project Neptune to provide a place for
my counseling profession and personal faith in Christ to coalesce into an inviting atmosphere for not only
members of my particular faith but anyone wanting to become more noble and discover that within us
lies the kingdom of God not a faith passed down from the past that we hardly would be discretionary to analyze
and decide for ourselves what is truth or not.
