Decision Making In a Crisis, How To Adapt To Radical Change - A Fireside Chat with Dr. Rubin Patel

Decision Making In a Crisis, How To Adapt To Radical Change - A Fireside Chat with Dr. Rubin Patel

Just when you were thinking you could return to some semblance of normality... COVID-19 makes a dramatic reappearance and lays waste to your careful plans.

In the last six weeks, our region has seen an unprecedented rise in cases of COVID-19, hospitalizations, and sadly more deaths. Once again this pandemic is exerting its will, forcing us to adapt even more than we already have. The latest wave has brought on new mandates and rules that will heavily impact businesses.

That is why this is such an important topic - how to make the right decisions for your business while navigating a crisis of any proportion. Developing a resilient organization that has the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment is critical. You never know what obstacles you may need to face in the future and now is the perfect time to not only create a response to manage serious events, but also develop a plan that will allow you to find growth opportunities in a downturn.

We are very fortunate to have a guest speaker who has seen firsthand the impacts of the pandemic, both from a business and medical perspective.

Dr. Rubin Patel is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Patient Plus Urgent Care. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana and completed his residency at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge. His clinics treat less serious conditions that don't warrant a trip to the nearest emergency room.

In this fireside, we want to dig deeper into his responses during the initial lockdowns, but more importantly, how that experience has helped him in tackling the latest wave of cases and what seems to be a more aggressive trajectory than previously witnessed.

One of the most well-known crowdfunding stories is Oculus, a popular virtual reality headset that was purchased by Facebook for $2 billion in 2014. They originally launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the development of the headset. Within 4 hours the campaign exceeded its target and eventually raised $2.4 million!

Sherin Dawud and Raina Vallot, founded Power Pump Girls, Inc. in 2017 with the belief that women are better together. Power Pump Girls, Inc. is a social impact club connecting and mobilizing women to disrupt systems of inequity. ⚡️They set out to create intentional gatherings for women to build relationships that ultimately impacted culture. From hosting social brunches to advocating for women’s rights legislation, the organization’s resumé is as diverse and unconventional as its founders. As the Power Pump Girls sisterhood grew, Sherin and Raina began taking on speaking engagements and hosting opportunities to discuss topics of authenticity, community building, social impact strategy, diversity and inclusion, and more. Now, considered thought leaders and social entrepreneurs, Sherin and Raina continue to challenge the status quo and empower others along the way.

In this fireside, we will explore the role community building plays in running successful crowdfunding campaigns. Join us for some networking, refreshments, and an insightful conversation with Raina and Sherin!
