Luka as LeBron's NBA Successor + Mavs Season Storylines
On this episode, Dalton Trigg and Matt Galatzan talk about how Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is set to be the face of the NBA once LeBron James retires. Some -- and by 'some' we really just mean one person who has annoying Mavs Twitter for more than two years now -- have questioned this idea of Luka taking LeBron's place, though, as if such a move would simply be the NBA giving that title to Doncic only to help continue expanding the league globally. Although that is one benefit Doncic being the eventual face of the league, this episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast debunks any 'agendas' some people think the league might have by discussing why Doncic's play on the court and how he carries himself off the court makes him worthy of such a title. We also discuss the Mavs' Christmas Day showdown with the Lakers and our favorite Mavs storylines heading into the season. Thanks for listening, and remember to subscribe!

Mavs 'Win the Draft' with Green, Terry, Bey & Richardson Acquisitions

On this episode, the guys discuss what was a very busy opening day of the NBA's trade season, including what remaining trade options could still be out there for the Mavs in the NBA Draft tomorrow night. Zach LaVine, Buddy Hield and Victor Oladipo are all still on the board. Despite the lack of activity early on, the Mavs could still have us all smiling by this weekend if they take an aggressive approach. With it looking like Giannis could be staying in Milwaukee after all, an uptick in aggression is definitely needed right now. Thanks for listening!

Mavs' rumored interest in Montrezl Harrell + Zach LaVine as a Mavs trade option
On this week's episode, the guys talk about a rumor saying the Mavs have interest in Montrezl Harrell this offseason. If the Mavs could even afford him, would he be a good fit? What current Mavs bigs would need to be traded to make it work? In the second half of this one, Dalton and Matt then spend nearly 30 minutes analyzing a potential Mavs trade for Zach LaVine, and how he would fit next to Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis as the third star in Dallas. Thanks for listening!

What would be the Mavs' most realistic trade offer for Bradley Beal?
On this episode, Dalton and Matt start off by discussing the second round of the NBA Playoffs, including the Miami Heat knocking out Giannis Antetokounmpo and the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in just 5 games. How could this complicate things with Giannis and the Bucks going forward? Even if he declines his extension, is one for year of true title contention worth risking Giannis walk away in free agency? Do the Mavs have a legitimate shot at him? All of that is answered in the first half of this episode. In the second half, the guys discuss the possibility of the Mavs pursuing a Bradley Beal trade on draft night, including what they think the most realistic trade offer from Dallas would be. As always, thanks for listening!
Mavs Offseason Mailbag: If Milwaukee trades Giannis, should Dallas offer Porzingis?
On this week's massive hour-long episode, Dalton and Matt spend the majority of the time answering listeners' questions about potential options the Mavs could have this offseason. Some of these topics include what type of players Dallas should target, what players are worth the Mavs trading their draft picks for, and the most interesting topic of all... if Giannis declines the Bucks' super max extension, and the Bucks decide they need to trade him, should the Mavs potentially offer Porzingis in order to get Giannis in the door before 2021 free agency? Given contract lengths, would it be too much of a risk? The guys discuss all that and much, much more. Thanks for listening, and thanks for submitting your questions! Keep 'em coming!

We believe so, and Dalton Trigg (@dalton_trigg) and Matt Galatzan (@MattGalatzan) layout the blueprint for a Mavs upset of the Clippers in this week's episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast. Thanks for listening!

'Halleluka!' ... We Finally Have a Mavs Win in the Bubble!
On this episode, the guys recap the Mavs' 114-110 overtime win over the Kings, which ended a two-game losing skid. With the win, the Mavs are still the only team in the entire NBA to have not lost three games in a row. Luka Doncic put up a monster performance in this one, scoring 34 points to go with 20 rebounds and 12 assists. Doncic became the youngest player to ever put up a 30-20-10 stat line. The guys discuss how this Luka performance reminded them of some of Dirk Nowitzki's performances back in the day, where he would just seem to will the Mavs to victory at times. Is there any way the Mavs could upset the Clippers in the playoffs if Doncic is playing that way on a nightly basis? Catch all that Mavs talk and more right here. Thanks for listening!

Luka/KP's growing chemistry, Cuban's protest, falling in love with THJ, and much more!
The conversation then shifts the Mavs' loss to the Hawks from Saturday night ... a game that's being protested by owner Mark Cuban due to a very questionable call at the end of the game. Although this protest is technically just for one game, the guys discuss why this move from Cuban sends a bigger message to the NBA about its officiating lately.
Tim Hardaway Jr. has emerged a key contributor to the Mavs' success this season, not only with his stats, but also with the passion and energy he brings on a nightly basis. Hardaway Jr.'s shooting hasn't just been 'good' this season, it's been 'elite.' The guys briefly dive into those numbers before pondering what a potential long-term extension would look like for him this offseason. Thanks for listening!
