Cup of Hope: Truth: Intent to Harm
In the story of Joseph we meet his brothers who are so jealous of him it drives them to sell Joseph into slavery and then deceived their dad, making up a story about Joseph being mauled by a wild animal. This deception comes back to haunt them years later as they meet Joseph face to face in their greatest desperation - food - and Joseph is the one who holds their future in his hands.  We see Joseph, one who could have allowed bitterness to be planted deep into his soul rise to the occasion allowing God to be glorified and trusting that God had a plan all along - to save his family from the famine. Read with me and let's study together the brothers intent to harm Joseph, yet how God used it for good! Genesis 37:17-33 Cup of Hope: A gulp of God's word to plant seeds of greater faith and hope. Cup of Hope: Truth: Greed
Greed makes us take what doesn't belong to us. We see this unclose in the story of Ghazi, Elisha, the prophets servant, who witnessed Elisha turn down gifts and blessings from Naaman. The prospect of Naaman's gifts was too great for Gehazi to pass up. So he took it upon himself to go get them, and get even more for himself. His greed drove him to his own demise.  We are heading back into the Old Testament today as we take a look at this often overlooked story. Read and study with me today from 2 Kings 5:20-27 Cup of Hope: A gulp of God's word to plant seeds of greater faith and hope. Cup of Hope: Truth: Possession
Possessions. We all like to be in control of things...and if we are honest people and circumstances. But our things, what we buy and own is often hard to hold with an open hands. It's hard to be willing to share what we see as rightly ours, especially if we are asked to give it ALL away. Today we read and study together the story of Ananias and Sapphire who withhold the proceeds of sold property during the first church of the apostles.  Join us today as we study this humbling story of Ananias and Sapphira! Cup of Hope: Truth: Money
Money. It's one of the churches least favorite topics - but one topic Jesus talked about most. Why? Perhaps it's because money is a temptation that Satan uses to distract us, to lure us, to draw us into a false sense of not needing God. Today we will read the redemption story of a man enslaved to money. Zacchaeus experienced freedom from the entrapment of money as the end all be all of life, through a moment with Jesus.  Join us today as we study this remarkable story of Zacchaeus! Let's read God's word together and find hope, truth and encouragement for today! Luke 19:10-20 Cup of Hope: A gulp of God's word to plant seeds of greater faith and hope. Cup of Hope: Truth: History Repeats Itself
I can only imagine that the story-telling of Abraham telling Pharaoh and Abimelech that Sarah was his sister made it through the camp. I can imagine Sarah even complaining to her maid-servants that Moses made her tell others she was his sister. Do you think Isaac would have known these stories? Or maybe it was even a lesson he was taught -for their own protection, of course- as they were venturing from place to place to the promised land.  Open your Bibles and turn to Genesis 26:1-11 and be filled up full to overflowing with God's great promise of Hope as we unpack this story of Isaac repeating history as he uses the same lie to protect himself and his family. Cup of Hope: Truth: Habit
Abram now named Abraham, falls into the same habit of lying to protect. In Genesis 20, we find Abraham and Sarah moving to the Negev. As a part of ensuring safe passage through the land Abraham again tells that Sarah is his sister - ignoring the fact that she is his wife. Again a plague was on the land and the people feared the Lord, but many were harmed because of Abrahams decision to repeat the same half-truth. Open your Bibles and turn to Genesis 20:1-18 and be filled up full to overflowing with God's great promise of Hope! Cup of Hope: A gulp of God's word to produce greater faith and hope. Cup of Hope: Truth: Half-Truths
Abram convinced that Pharaoh would not allow him to live if he knew beautiful Sarai was his wife, lied to try and save his own hide, causing Sarai to be caught in the middle and a great plague to come to Pharaoh's home. Half-truth about his half-sister caused a ripple effect of issues. Let's read together and find out more about this interesting dilemma in scripture. Cup of Hope: Truth: Repentance
Today we sit with David, in his heart breaking repentance. The raw and real, the reckoning of mistakes and yet the praise of God's mercy and forgiveness. Cup of Hope: Truth: Rebuke
David, the man after God's own heart was not immune from sin. In fact, he slept with another man's wife. Bathsheba became pregnant. And David assumed because of his position, he could cover up his sin. Instead, he was confronted and rebuked by the prophet Nathan. Today we look at Nathan's rebuke. Today we will study and look at the truth both David and Nathan had to accept.  Let's read together from 2 Samuel 12:7-14 and learn from Nathan's rebuke of David. Cup of Hope: Stay: Trust the Plan
Jesus, in the lineage of Ruth and King David, is the ultimate example of staying when it's easier to run away. He could have fled the scene on many occasions throughout his life.  We learn from Jesus that staying and allowing God's plan to unfold in us , through us and around us take a lot of trust. We can follow Jesus' example of trusting in God's plan. Let's read together from Mark 14:40-42 and learn how we too can trust the plan! Join us as we read together and study! Cup of Hope: Stay: Prepared
David came from a strong line of faithful people. He learned the importance of staying. His life was a training ground for the calling God was placing on his life - to become the King of Israel. David was trained as a warrior-shepherd. It was his willingness to stay, even when there was a predator, and face the predator head  on. He trusted God's presence with him.  Let's read together from 1 Samuel 17;34-37 Join us as we read together and study! Learn and grow in confidence in God's saving grace this week! Cup of Hope: Stay: Committed to Cleave
Ruth, daughter in law of Naomi. Naomi was widower and bereaved mother. Ruth was given an out, since her husband died, to go back to her own land, to her own people. Yet instead, Ruth chose to stay. She chose to stay with her mother-in-law in her grieving, in her bitterness, in her heartache, in moving and finding a new life. Ruth's story and her choice to be faithful to her commitment to mother in law teaches us a lot about character, and set up the character of the coming kings. Through Ruth's son Obed the line to King David and eventually to King Jesus.  Because Ruth chose to stay generations were blessed. Let's read together from Ruth 1:12, 14-16. Cup of Hope: Stay: Running from Calling
Jonah, was a prophet called by God to draw the hearts of lost men and women back to God. Jonah's reaction to God's request - to run, flee to another city, believing that God would not find him amid his running. Yet we know God finds him - and eventually Jonah makes the choice to say YES to God's calling. Today we study together part of the life and story of Jonah and uncover how Jonah ran, and how similar our nature is to run when we are called to place that do not fit into our agenda, strategic plan or the vision board we have created for ourselves. Cup of Hope: Stay: Running to other gods
Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet. He was called to prophesy to people who were prone to wander, and to turn their back on God, seeking other Gods. Idol worship was rampant throughout Israel, God's chosen people. In Jeremiah 2, we read of Jeremiah pleading with the people of God to stop running to other God's and turn back to become reunited with the one true God.   Today we will study our tendency to run found in Jeremiah 2:25-35, and how we can make a choice to live different than how we see the Israelites living. Cup of Hope: Stay: Outrunning Sin
Moses was a man God choose to reveal himself to and through and help lead the Israelites from slavery into the promised land. When we read of Moses as a young man before God has called him, we read of his propensity to run away from difficult circumstances. To take matters and justice into how own hands. Today we will study Moses' propensity to run and how we ourselves often try and outrun our own sin. Let's study and learn together today how we can live different than and stay to face the consequences of our sin. Join us as we read together and study! Cup of Hope: Stay when it's easier to run away: Foolishness
Join me today as we take a look at Job and his wife. The advise that Job's wife was giving him was to run away from his faith, to ignore all he had learned about God's faithfulness through the good times. Job calls this thinking "foolishness". How many times do we receive advise or even give advise that is foolishness causing us or those we are advising to run away from God instead of to him? Cup of Hope: Stay : Fear
Fear drives us away. Fear closes us off to love, hope, peace, comfort and joy that God has available. It closes us off from solutions. Today we will address this topic of staying when it's easier to run away because of fear.  We will walk through a portion of Elijah's story and see how fear played into his reaction to Jezebel's threat to take his life and therefore run away and hide. May we learn today from this story what it looks like to stay, and allow God be our strength - letting go of fear so we can see the solutions he has available for us, after all he promises He has gone ahead of us. Cup of Hope: Stay when it's easier to run away: Shame
Shame is a tool that Satan uses to keep us small and from stepping out in faith. If we hide behind shame, we feel the weight of what we have done is too big for God to forgive, it's too big for him to wash away, and it certainly means that we are not usable for God's kingdom. Well, these thoughts may feel accurate at times, but they are lies from the evil one. Walk with me today through a portion of the story of Adam and Eve and see how their shame played into their desire to run away from God and hide. May we learn today from this story what it looks like to stay, and allow God to take away our shame, basking in the joy and glory of his ability to take away every sin. No matter how big it seems to us - God can handle it. We will be reading today from Genesis 3:9-10. Join us as we read together and study! Cup of Hope: Love is Not Arrogant
Arrogance is a close cousin to Boasting. Like boasting arrogance is self-focused instead of others-focused. Arrogance points to the divisions and distinctions. It's a cover for the low self esteem that exists within the arrogant persons mind and heart. Love isn't arrogant, which means it doesn't take others for granted. Cup of Hope: Love Does Not Envy
Envy. Envy acts in opposition to love. Envy distracts from the ability to love others because it focuses have versus have not. This month we continue looking at love. Loving others, when it's easier to hate. Loving others, when it would be easy to envy what others have. Envy focuses on the gaps between us, love focuses on Jesus, the one who bridges all gaps. Cup of Hope: Love is Patient
1 Corinthians 13 is known as the love chapter. And February is known as the LOVE month (thank you Hallmark)! Appropriately, then we are studying love this month! Each Cup of Hope we will take a look at a section of the verses from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Verse 4 tells us, "love is patient." We see the demonstration of patient love through the life of Jesus Christ. Today we dig into patience that comes as an outflow, as a result of love. We know that loving others is not easy. Choosing patience, choosing love requires intentionality. And requires a life surrendered to God.  Join us  M-W-F @ 6:45am Central. #cupofhope #loveispatient

Cup of Hope: Live by Faith: Glory, part 3
Romans 1:23 tells of those who exchange the glory of God - who fixed their eyes on what was seen - for the glory of what was visible. May we fix our eyes on Jesus - though we cannot see Him with our eyes - we know He is with us. May our understanding of God's glory rise as we seek His face above the things that are visible. This week on Cup of Hope we are talking about living by faith & not by sight - and this idea of God's glory. God's glory - the honor that He is due - we give to him by how we respond, how we behave, how we think & live our lives. Let's bring him glory this week as we study and read from Romans 1. Today's verse will be Romans 1:23. Cup of Hope: A gulp of God's word to produce greater faith and hope. Cup of Hope: Live by Faith, Not by Sight: Glory, part 2
Wisdom. What is it? How do we know if we have it? Well, according to Paul in his letter to the Roman church, he identifies that there were a lot of "knowledgeable" people. People who knew God, but did not have HIS wisdom. Wisdom is demonstrated through actions. It's one thing to have the head knowledge, yet another thing completely to employ the knowledge. Having wisdom is not about "fixing" others and their issues, or our own.  My prayer for us is that we would not allow knowledge to get in the way of wisdom. Knowing God & knowing His word, yet not being transformed by the power of God's word & truth. Praying that we do not become as Paul describes- "Claiming to be wise, they became fools." The Exchange: Live by Faith, Not by Sight: Salvation, Part 3
The gift of salvation is untouchable. There is not greater gift that we can receive than the gift of salvation. However, as the "honeymoon" phase of salvation wears off, sometimes the excitement and joy of our salvation wears off.  One way to keep the joy from wearing off, or to rebirth the joy is the recount all that God has done - and share his goodness, the goodness of giving us the opportunity to experience freedom from sin, death, guilt, shame and the heaviness of this life. God takes the bricks that are piled up on our shoulders and casts them off. Join us today on Cup of Hope and meet Jesus for the first time or take time to remember the God of your salvation and share your story with someone. Psalm 40:10 and Psalm 71:15 encourage us to TELL the WORLD of the gift of salvation! #cupofhope #inspirehope #illuminatetruth #ignitechange

The Exchange: Walk by Faith, Not by Sight, Salvation, part 2
Salvation is a gift from God. It is a gift that only he can give. It is a gift to be received. We can choose to know the gift exists - yet not receive it. Not believe that it is true for us, and therefore miss out on the benefits & blessings of the gift. In Psalm 62:1 & 7 David writes of the blessings of the gift of salvation. He knew where his salvation came from. And he felt, lived and walked in the blessings of salvation from God.  In salvation he found rest, he stood on a solid foundation for his life and he experienced refuge.  Through salvation God was his rest, foundation and refuge.  May we experience the same blessings and benefits that David did! Join us today on Cup of Hope and glean from this example of David what God has for you and your life and what we can learn about the character of God! #cupofhope #inspirehope #illuminatetruth #ignitechange For more resources to walk through life's storms go to: http://www.stephaniewinslow.com

Today on Cup of Hope I share the lyrics to the song, Pretty Amazing Grace by Neil Diamond. This song has a special place in my heart - and my dad's heart. Do Not Covet
We are told not to covet our neighbors house, possessions, job, etc.  Covet in essence means that we desire what someone else has.   If we are busy wanting what others have we miss out on the blessing of what God has given us.  Covetousness leads to emptiness, it leads to disappointment and leads to envy - none of which produce anything positive in our lives.   A Morning Cup of Hope is a daily video devotional series where Stephanie Winslow highlights a verse from the Bible and teaches on it to provide a quick morning gulp of Truth and Grace!

Do Not Give False Testimony
Today on Morning Cup of Hope we talk about the 9th of the 10 Commandments. God instructs us to not give false testimony against our neighbor.   What exactly is a false testimony? Of course, there is the blatant lying about someone. But there is also exaggeration of stories to make the person look worse that what actually happened in order for the other persons agenda to be pushed.   Exaggerations are lies. Exaggerations are false testimonies - especially when the purpose is to make someone else look smaller and us to look better or bigger.   A Morning Cup of Hope is a daily video devotional series where Stephanie Winslow highlights a verse from the Bible and teaches on it to provide a quick morning gulp of Truth and Grace!

Today on Cup of Hope we talk adultery. Yep. That's right. We talk about it not with pointing fingers, but with the understanding that adultery could happen to any of us - because it has to do with the heart.   Behaviors and actions are symptoms of our hearts condition. In the old testament we are given a list of "commandments", which are actually a covenant between God and his chosen people. Help us see our Blind Spots! Psalm 19:12-13
Psalm 19:12-13 describes spiritual blind spots as "Unintentional sins" and "hidden faults." Sometimes we are just not ready to face them. Sometimes we know they are there and ignore them. Sometimes we just don't know we are acting out of alignment with God. BUT we can ask. We can ask God to show us, to bring these sins to our attention and help us to rectify them. God wants to cleanse us fully and completely, melting a way every spec of sin that separates us from Him.

My Rock & My Redeemer : Psalm 19:14
As we continue to read Psalm 19, this verse reminds us that what we say - especially what we say to ourselves can make a great impact on our heart condition. As we lean on God to be our source, he is our rock -which means we have a solid foundation. And He is our redeemer, which means that we are set free because of the price Jesus paid for us on the cross. It's great news indeed! Listen to this episode and be encouraged that you have a rock and redeemer on your side!

Cup of Hope: 5 Fold Blessing: Jehovah Jireh: Provision
I believe God is a God who gives in abundance. He provides all we need. Just as he dresses the flowers of the fields and the birds of the air. He cares for us. Sometimes though, we leave blessing on the table. We have not, because we ask not.  Do you believe and trust that God will provide for your every need? In Genesis 22:14 Abraham named the altar he built on Mount Moriah "Jehovah Jireh." Abraham was asked to give up what was most precious to him, Isaac, the blessed gift of the promise of God. It was the one thing he held most dear. YET he was willing to give Isaac up. And just at the right time and in the right place a lamb was provided to take Isaac's place.  Abraham's willingness to give it all up, lead to God's provision of the lamb. God wants our obedience. He wants our trust. He wants our affections. More than anything else. Genesis 22:12 is critical to this message, listen to learn more! Cup of Hope: 5 Fold Blessing: Jehovah Nissi
Who doesn't want favor? Right? I think we all want to be viewed as worthy to be favored.  Exodus 17:15 we read of Moses building an altar before God and naming it "Jehovah Nissi" or "the Lord is my banner". The Lord is the one who leads me! Moses and the Israelites fought and beat the Amalekites. And after the battle, Moses built this altar. He knew that the Lord was with them in the battle.  The battles of this life as certain. We will face many throughout our life times. But what is also certain is that the Lord will be with us, through each and everyone. Psalm 20:5 says, "Let us shout for joy at your victory and lift the banner in the name of our Lord!" The victory is already won! Looking for more resources? Need hope today? You can find more helpful resources on my website: www.stephaniewinslow.com

Cup of Hope: Proverbs 11:30
We all want to produce fruit. But what is required to grow real, lasting fruit? Proverbs tell us that the fruit of righteousness is a tree of life. Interesting. The fruit is an actual tree - which has the capacity to bear its own fruit. When we win souls for the kingdoms, when we produce kingdom fruit we are wise.  Wisdom is often described as good decision making. Good decisions are only half the battle - wisdom is about living a purposeful life and a life of impact for the kingdom.  Cup of Hope was created to bring hope into every home that wants to learn and grow closer to heart of God. Stephanie desires this podcast will inspire hope, illuminate truth and ignite change in all of its listeners.

Cup of Hope Podcast Introduction
I am Stephanie Winslow, author, speaker, blogger and woman after the heart of God! The pursuit of hope, faith and love is planted in the heart of every human. It is a quest to know God and be known by him. It is through tragedies of life that hope is found. Without trials, without broken hearts, with out situations bigger than our ability to fix we would never understand our need for hope and our need for God. We are indeed desperate for him, and desperate for hope that is found living a life fueled by him. On the Cup of Hope podcast you will encounter God through the scriptures. The heart of Cup of Hope is to Illuminate Truth: Inspire Hope: Ignite Change in every listener as the Holy Spirit moves and works through the spoken word of God.  Isaiah 55:11 says, "so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."
