Taking MyTech Chromebooks Home: How DPS Elementaries Are Making This Happen for Students
Welcome to the Denver Public Schools MyTech Podcast! In this fourth episode of the season, we're talking about chromebooks. These touchscreen laptops use Google’s Chrome operating system, and they form the backbone of DPS’ MyTech program, which provides computers to district students in all grades kindergarten through 12th. The MyTech program works with all DPS-managed schools to make sure all students have access to a computer in and out of the classroom, as well as opportunities to use them meaningfully. In this episode, we talk to staff and students at two Denver elementary schools, Asbury and Ellis. At both schools, second through fifth graders have been taking their computers home and bringing them back to school, every day, for years. Asbury and Ellis are leading the way for other DPS elementaries, as a significant change is coming to the district. Beginning fourth quarter, students in grades 2 or above at all DPS-run schools will be able to take their computers home to explore, finish school work, and extend their learning.
