A Journey from Chronic Depression to Self-Awareness
Join our warm dialogue with Michael, a gallant soul who courageously battled chronic depression and now seeks to repurpose his definition of happiness.
In this profoundly personal conversation, Michael shares his depression fight, his self-awareness voyage, and his shift from hiding to openly admitting his emotions.
Hear about the challenge of his dual existence, often smiling to satisfy the societal expectations while silently confronting his personal confusion. Learn about his metaphorical 'mask', the fake portrayal of joy that conceals his repressed emotions. Listen to the compelling recount of the turning point of his life when he decided to seek help, kicking off his arduous but crucial journey to recovery.
This episode delves into the fear of vulnerability, the bravery in confessing not being fine, and the relatable confusion in identifying genuine happiness. It insists on the importance of individual emotional well-being, challenging the common approach of prioritising others before ourselves. Connect with the potent discussions of this episode and come to grips with the reality of mental health matters.
Join us in this powerful conversation that pushes the emotional boundaries and challenges societal norms while emphasising the importance of mental health.
Micheal takes us into his turmoil-laden mind and personal life, showing the dangers of overcommitting to societal expectations. He reveals his struggles with responsibilities, mental health, and burnout.
A pivotal turning point came through a GP visit, leading to much-needed mental health assistance. Through this journey, the Micheal discovered the importance of mindfulness, anxiety management, and the freedom in just "being". With his move to York, he redefined his life, emphasising the beauty in simplicity and the need to embrace negative emotions.
This transformation story is much more than personal; it serves as a wake-up call for everyone hiding their struggles. His empowering message encourages us to reach out, connect with others, and ensure our mental well-being. Join us, and step into understanding mental health while walking alongside him in his incredible journey, as he bares the silent truth about this often unseen reality on the Glass Half Full Podcast

In this episode of Glass, Half Steve is joined by Terry Tucker.
Terry is the author of Sustainable Excellence and has a truly thought-provoking and inspirational story.
Here is a bit more about Terry.
I became a police officer with the Cincinnati Police Department, where I was a SWAT Hostage Negotiator. Following a family relocation to Texas, I started a school security consulting business and coached high school girls basketball in Houston. Each time I took on a new job, I had to develop new skills and faced different challenges. There was always a significant learning curve with every new position.
But my greatest challenge began in early 2012 when I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Acral Lentiginous Melanoma, which presented on the bottom of my foot. By the time the melanoma was detected, it had metastasized to a lymph node in my groin. Because my cancer is so rare (only about 5,800 people are diagnosed with this form of malignancy in the U.S. each year), I was treated at the world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center. I had two surgeries to remove the tumors, and after I healed, I was put on a weekly injection of the drug, Interferon, to help keep the disease from coming back.
I took those weekly injections for almost 5 years before the Interferon became so toxic to my body that I ended up in the Intensive Care Unit with a fever of 108 degrees. Fortunately, expert medical care saved my life.

Lesleigh answered these questions and much more when she joined Steve Twynham on Glass Half Full.
About Lesleigh
I am trained as a psychotherapist with 4500 hours of clinical work. However, I have chosen to work as an entrepreneur so that I may easily be of service to my clients across the nation. Eventually, I will work internationally, and so I chose my business name: Healing Hearts International!
During my 12 years of professional hospice work, I knew I had a gift for connection with grieving families.
I have a wonderful mentor who introduced me to the Grief Recovery Method. When I became certified as a Grief Recovery Specialist, I knew that this process was so profound that I wanted to facilitate it in my private practice.
In 2019, I became certified as an Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist so that I am now qualified to teach my seven-week program online.
It is both humbling and fulfilling to witness my clients’ transformations from a short-term program that has defined and empowered actionable steps.
