"The Sky Is Falling!" Luke 21:5-28

"The Sky Is Falling!" Luke 21:5-28

Are we living in the end times?  Does it scare you if we are?
There have been "Chicken Littles" those who get their followers all worked up because we are in the end times.
We are indeed in the end times and we have been since Jesus ascended into heaven, but there is nothing to fear.
Jesus has you covered.
Jesus is coming again, but it is not a thing of fear for all who are found to be in Christ will certainly live with Christ!

All Saints 2019 Rev 7:9-17

All Saints 2019 Rev 7:9-17

When we celebrate All Saints Day, we are given to remember those saints who have gone before us to the "feast that has no end."   We also anticipate the fact that we have seats waiting for us where we will live in the joy of Christ forever.

The Ungrateful Nine Luke 17:1-19

The Ungrateful Nine Luke 17:1-19

When met by 10 Lepers, Jesus was moved to compassion and healed them all, but only one of them, an outsider returned to give thanks.
Are you the ungrateful nine, the grateful one, or are you both?

What is Communion About? 1 Corinthians 11

What is Communion About? 1 Corinthians 11

Jesus promised us that He will never leave us, and so He is good to His Word as He comes to us through His appointed means, the Word in all of its forms through the Word proclaimed and through the Word attached to elements that we call "sacraments."

Jesus comes to us as a gift.  Gifts can never be earned, but they are given freely without conditions.
We rejoice in all of the gifts of forgiveness, mercy, and peace with God through the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ Himself.

Christ is Risen Indeed - Alleluia John 20:1-18

Christ is Risen Indeed - Alleluia John 20:1-18

The darkness has departed, the light of Christ shines forth in the resurrection of Jesus.  He laid in death's bonds for 3 days after being crucified.
In His resurrection, you too are given the promise of a resurrection to eternal life.

You Are Marked For Salvation - Ash Wednesday Matthew 6:1-21

You Are Marked For Salvation - Ash Wednesday Matthew 6:1-21

What makes us worthy of Christ's forgiveness and mercy?  Is God merciful because we try hard enough or do enough good?  No, God is merciful to us because the punishment that we deserve has been met out on Christ Jesus.  He took the beating on the cross that our sin has earned.   When we see how relentless Jesus is in saving us, we consider our unworthiness and we are then made to feel remorse and repentance.  God always meets repentance with mercy.

If You Forgive the Sins of Any, They are Forgiven. John 20:19-23

If You Forgive the Sins of Any, They are Forgiven. John 20:19-23

If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven.
Confession and absolution is an often misunderstood thing.  Jesus instituted the office of the ministry armed with forgiveness and peace.  It is the job of every pastor to forgive the sins of all who will listen.   Christ died for all and He desires to forgive all who will confess their need of mercy.

I've had an Epiphany about Jesus! Mark 1:4-11

I've had an Epiphany about Jesus! Mark 1:4-11

John the Baptizer comes from the desert and he looks scary and his message is disturbing and a little confusing.
After me comes one who was before me and I am not worthy to untie His sandals.
God's grace and how God will level the playing field.   The unrighteous are proclaimed to be righteous and sinners are proclaimed saints in and through Christ Jesus.
