Underground Outlet Vol 2: Midwest Unrest Showcase Part 1
Hey everyone! This week is part one of our introductions to the bands that are going to be apart of our upcoming compilation Underground Outlet Volume 2: Midwest Unrest! Four bands to introduce to you all with a combined 11 tracks to jam out to this week!
First is Hour/Glass from Wichita, Kansas. We featured the song "Memories" from their 2021 EP "Confessions". In addition, their newest single "Hand of God" will be on Midwest Unrest that released on 10/28/2022!

Next up is hardcore band Darkroom from Columbus, Ohio with three tracks off of their recently released self-titled album "Darkroom" that released on 11/18/2022! We played three tracks off the album. "Quiet", "Darkroom", and lastly "Nothing Holy" which will be the track that will be apart of Midwest Unrest!
Parthian, Progressive Death Metal from Wichita, Kansas joins them with 3 tracks off of their July 1st 2022 release "Desolation of a Ceaseless Dawn". We played 3 tracks off the album. "Cosmic Overture", "Illusions of Grandeur" & "Numinous". Numinous will be apart of Midwest Unrest!
Lastly we have Chicago Metalcore band Stolen Sun rounding out the episode with 3 tracks from their recent EP "The Fatality of Circumstance" that released on 10/21/2022. We played "Life Is Brutal on Mars", "The Hound" and "Cruel Joke"! Cruel Joke will be apart of Midwest Unrest!

It's been TWO LONG YEARS. TWO. We are back! Its crazy how much time can slip by if you're not paying attention to whats going on around you! In this episode I briefly talk about where I've been the last 2 years. All the various different treats and tribulations that life has thrown my way to deter my focus on the podcast.

Originally formed in 1989 they have re-recorded some of their best tracks that were originally written across 3 demos from the early/mid 1990s. That new album is called "The Resurrectionist" that released in December of 2022. We played a few tracks off that new album and these are tracks you don't want to miss. Old School Death Metal is one of our favorite sub-genres to discuss!

We are back! Steven O'Brien and Paul O'Brien of Australia's Aeons Abyss are TAKING OVER the podcast for a 4 part miniseries showcasing 12 of the most iconic "Old School" Death Metal albums of the 1990's. Along with the discussions, S2TC has always been about supporting the underground and being an outlet for the underground realm of metal. Unfortunately due to licensing and copyright restraints we cannot play any tracks from the classic albums of this era BUT not to fret! Aeons Abyss is an Old-School Death Metal studio project from Melbourne, Victoria Australia and we played 3 tracks (Darkness Falls, Tried by Ordeal, and Impenitent) off of their brand new album "Impenitent" that released earlier this month for FREE via Bandcamp on November 1st, 2019! Joining them we have Cruelty Exalted, a Death Metal band with technical, progressive, brutal, and old-school influences from Los Angeles, CA! Their 4 track self-titled debut EP blows my mind! We played the tracks "Dethroning the Righteous" and "Caelum Incendebat". The level of technicality involved in these song makes my jaw drop. Thinking in hindsight it doesn't come as a shock when Cruelty Exalted features past and present members of bands such as Fear Factory, Spawn of Possession, Malignancy, Igorr, Calcemia, Pallor Mortis, Zephyrus Memory, and Skulls just to name a few. Their self-titled 4 track EP is available right now FOR FREE on their Bandcamp page! Cruelty Exalted is currently in the studio working on finishing up their debut full-length album to be released in mid to late 2020! I know I'm excited for that!!

What's up everyone! Welcome to episode 6 of Straight to the Core! This week I kind of go on a rant about pre-order woes and my opinions on them. We also got New England area Metal band Sepsiss to play a couple tracks this week and well as Yorkshire, UK based NuMetalcore band Tormenta on this week to play a few tracks as well! Strap in there are 4 KILLER tracks from each band. Sepsiss in a very unique female-fronted metal band that has their own flavor of metal that I cannot stop listening to! Tormenta is a unique in their own way as well. They have crushing vocals but throw in some amazing electronic parts into their style as well as early 00's nu-metal vibes. All those vibes meld perfectly together and I couldn't ask for a better pairing of styles! I love it!

Ep. 4: Another First! Ventures/Vampiric
What is going on everyone! In this episode I mention the website Discogs and how important it is to physical media collectors like myself! I finally hit 1K items in the collection! I'm going to start posting photos and videos of my immense metal music collection on the Straight to the Core Instagram page! Stay tuned for that, its going to take a LOOONG time to do but its going to be a blast! I am still working on the Spotify playlist but that should be done soon!
