#80 - Balancing Duality: Square Work and Sex Work w/ Dr. Raven Bowen of National Ugly Mugs (NUM)
This is technically my 100th episode (including bonus and miniseries) and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than having a super amazing guest on to fit the celebration! This week I am bringing Dr. Raven Bowen, CEO of National Ugly Mugs (NUM). Based in London, UK, NUM is a by and for charity that assists and support sex workers. Prior to her position at NUM, Raven hailed from Vancouver, Canada and was also the Executive Director at PACE Society (which you may have heard on Episode #78), worked with the BCCEC, and helped form programs that help sex workers like MAP (also featured during the COVID miniseries!). Her 25+ years of research and work for the community is absolutely incredible and on today’s episode, we are focusing on her new book, Work, Money and Duality: Trading Sex as a Side Hustle. We speak about sex workers balancing square/civilian work with sex work, the reasons on why they do it, the pushback that they might receive, the rituals they perform, the secrecy, the whorearchy and so much more. Her book was such great read which offered incredible insight on our industry and I highly recommend anyone in our industry to give it a read. Raven was such exceptionally intelligent and engaging guest who clearly cares about our community and I am so, so grateful to have had the chance to connect with her on this milestone week. Lastly, thank you to everyone who has listened, downloaded, shared and reviewed this podcast. I never thought I'd get this far! I appreciate all of your support. #79 - "I Get Paid to be Beautiful and Exist": An Introduction to Financial Domination w/ Vanessa Jolie
I am VERY EXCITED to bring on this week’s guest because it’s a topic that we haven’t yet spoken about on the podcast…and that topic is findom. Findom, or financial domination, is a fetish involving a subordinate and dominant complex where money is given or gifted to a financial dominatrix. It’s a total power play which is gaining in popularity over the years and the curiosity surrounding it continues to grow. To tackle such a huge subject, I invite findomme, Vanessa Jolie, a former escort turned online content creator, to speak on the topic. Although she is only six months into findomme, she has sought out coaching and training to properly care for her finsubs and to exercise caution and risk. She speaks of her experience on getting started, attracting new subs, working with budgets to responsibly practice this kink, and speaks on the common misconceptions surrounding findom. I absolutely loved having Vanessa on the show to speak about her findom journey and her DM’s are open in case you are wondering about how to enter this world! @thevanessajolie twitter.com/vanessajolie_ reddit.com/u/vanessauncensored onlyfans.com/vanessauncensored sextpanther.com/vanessa-jolie Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com

#78 - Providing Critical Frontline Support to Sex Workers w/ Kit Rothschild of PACE Society
A casual Instagram encounter turned into conversation which turned into an invitation to come onto the show to speak. I invite Kit Rothschild of PACE Society to come onto the show this week to share and spread the word about PACE Society, a sex worker-led and run organization located in Vancouver, Canada. PACE Society has been supporting sex workers since 1994 and offers a plethora of services and programs to support sex workers. Back in Montreal where they are from, Kit was introduced to sex work in a super non-conventional way: by newspaper ad for one of the largest and oldest dungeons in Quebec. After a 5-year stint in the industry, they found themselves drawn to PACE Society, which enabled them to relocate to Vancouver. Kit, the Violence Prevention Coordinator, describes it as a "dream job". First starting as a Support Worker, they worked their way up to their current title working on providing occupational health and safety programs to members of their community and organization. Weekly workshops, lunches, tax services, and the sex worker relief are just a few of the many programs that Kit helped facilitate and worked on. This episode provides a glimpse of how we can support these sex worker-friendly organizations, where your donation money goes to, and even provides an insight if this is work that you may one day be interested in. https://www.pace-society.org/ https://www.twitter.com/PACEsociety Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph

BONUS - The Changing Landscape of Sex Work (Virtually LIVE from Florida State University w/ Me)
Alright, it's BONUS EPISODE TIME...featuring me. We all need a little break, don't we? Also, happy 4th of July to all my American listeners! Even more of a reason to have a bonus episode break, am I right? I had the opportunity and invitation to guest lecture again (third time's a charm - thanks Alicia!) at Florida State University in their Human Sexuality class. This lecture was a little bit different than the previous two guest lectures where I really speak about sex work on a global scale and how that is changing. We talk about my origins in sex work and how it led me to hosting this sex worker podcast for almost two years and to my advocacy. We speak about the legal repercussions and consequences that we, as sex workers, face because of the criminalized nature of work and that decriminalization is merely just step one. Having a super engaged class full of wide-eyed and curious students made this lecturing experience so much more memorable and hopeful for the students in the future. #77 - Taking Control of Your Own Pleasure (and Others): Sex Toys 101 w/ Shelley of Pleasure Bird
I can’t have a sex work podcast without dedicating an entire episode to sex toys! With that being said, I welcome Shelley from Pleasure Bird, Vancouver’s same-day sex toy delivery service. Although Shelley isn’t a sex worker herself, she is an advocate for positive sexual education, sexual wellness and positivity. She started Pleasure Bird last year amidst her own curiosity around sex toys. Although she is no expert, she has been fascinated by the world of sex toys, the joy it brings to individual people, couples and play partners, different sexualities and gender and even its technology. Over the course of the episode we go over the different types of sex toys she offers, her most popular items, and what is new and upcoming in the industry. We even speak about how gendered the marketing is for sex toys. Why is it always geared towards women? Why don’t we talk about male pleasure as well? That, and how beneficial sex toys can come in handy to sex workers. We talk sex shows, camming, the kink community, bondage and restraints, and smart technology. Of course, we only have an hour so this is a great introduction to those who want to try certain toys, equipment or tools and for the curious. #76: Peepshows: Going Beyond the Private Pleasures Booth w/ Sunshine McWane
Whatever happened to the peepshow? You know what I’m talking about. The little booth that you can peer through to see scantily-clad women dance for you. Sometimes there were even smaller venues that were connected to sex stores. Some just aired pornographic material 24/7. For a few quarters, you can pop in and get some live entertainment. But where did these venues go? I speak with former peepshow dancer, Sunshine McWane, to speak about her experience of working in numerous peepshow establishments. Sunshine has worked in peepshow venues for years until one the last standing establishments closed its doors for good back in 2019. Before that, she worked at six different venues around the USA, including both location of ever-so-popular, The Lusty Lady, originating in Seattle and then branching out to a sister location in San Francisco. She reminisces of a time when peepshows were in its heyday – employing up to 5 girls a shift on weekend evenings when the club was “stacked”. She speaks about the incomparable comradery with the other ladies in the venue that she just can’t find to this day. We go over fees and payment structure, what happens in a Private Pleasure booth, how peepshow entertainment was a precursor to camming and how technology killed this form of sex work. Sunshine continues her quest of finding these establishment around the country. Do you know of any? #75 - Introducing the Latest Bill That You've Likely Never Heard Of w/ Samantha Knoxx
After a ton of back and forth rescheduled and postponed interviews, the stars aligned and I was finally able to catch a wave with this water-loving Cancer, Samantha Knoxx. Samantha is a full-time companion based in London, Ontario, Canada who has dabbled in all types of sex work: stripping, erotic massage, sugaring, porn, and now finally finding her niche in escorting. Inbetween her busy touring schedule, Samantha also volunteers her time at SafeSpace, a support centre for sex workers. She is fully immersed in dedicating her time and work to this community so I was thrilled when we were able to gettogether and shoot the shit about current issues concerning sex workers in Canada. Samantha discusses in depth the bill that we’ve all been dreading in Canada: Bill 251: Combat Human Trafficking Act. For my American listeners, this is the Canadian equivalent of FOSTA/SESTA. We already have some archaic and unjust bills that have become law (ahem, Bill C-36) but we were both surprised that although this bill passed its first reading in February, we were only hearing news of it now. When was our community going to be called upon, addressed or consulted? Because from the sounds of it, it’s as if everyone else (in a non-sex working capacity) approved and gave the go-ahead. Keen on hearing more? Then you’ll have to tune into this episode with the super articulate, Samantha Knoxx. @samantha_knoxxxoxo twitter.com/SamanthaKn0xx www.samanthaknoxx.com SafeSpace London Butterfly: Stop Bill 251 Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com

#74 - A Lengthy Battle Ahead: Challenging the Laws that Criminalize Sex Work in Canada w/ Jenn Clamen of the Canadian Alliance Sex Work Law Reform
I've been really excited to release this week's episode as it hits close to home and the news is hot off the press! I was able to catch Jenn Clamen who is the National Coordinator for the Canadian Alliance Sex Work Law Reform here in Canada to discuss the launch of the Charter challenge against the prostitution laws in Canada. We speak about what this may mean for sex workers in Canada, the outcome it hopes to achieve and the amount of exhaustive work that has gone into launching this. Jenn graciously and patiently breaks down the process in what the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is in Canada, what is deemed unconstitutional and what the previous and current Canadian government has done thus far in recognizing the needs of sex workers. To give context, we go even further about how deep this goes into our history with a brief overview of the Canada v. Bedford case which took a similar route which reached the Supreme Court of Canada (the highest court of law in Canada) and what has happened (or should I say, hasn't happened) in recent years. We speak about representation, the opportunities that have been given to law and policy makers here in Canada, fellow organizations and even the prime minister's office with no avail which has frustratingly pushed them to organize and fight for their, simply put, labour rights.  It is a PACKED 1-hour conversation that I am so grateful to have had with Jenn. #73 - The Potential Collapse of the Porn Industry Under SISEA and What Autism Looks like in Sex Work w/ Reese Piper
I am feeing so lucky to have connected with former dancer and writer based in Brooklyn, NY, Reese Piper, this week to talk about two things: autism and the Stop Internet Sex Exploitation Act in the USA. Sure, these things may seem like they are unrelated but perhaps they really aren’t. There’s just as much stigma in disability as there is in sex work. But what happens when you’re in both and doubly marginalized? Reese speaks on her very unique experience as an exotic dancer beginning down under in Australia and then in New York City. We also initially connected over re recently-published article in Autostraddle and The Times on how anti-porn legislation distracts us from child sexual abuse at home. It may seem like a stretch but hear Reese out as she bases this on her own personal, lived experience with sexual assault coming in from her own family. We also dig deeper on the impact that this bill could have on sex workers and how detrimental it can be for those specifically in the porn industry. With all of the recent child porn allegations that platforms like PornHub has had to face, will this be happening on other platforms too and will sex workers be ultimately booted off all platforms? There is a lot of speculation but present with valid arguments which is worth a listen. twitter.com/Reese__P How the War on Porn Distracts us from the Realities of Child Sexual Abuse S.5054 - Stop Internet Sexual Exploitation Act Don’t forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW, and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia onlyfans.com/siasteph paypal.me/stephsia www.stephsia.com

#72 - Street Walking: The Evolution of Sex Work Before the Age of the Internet w/ Miss Lady Vanessa
I am beyond ecstatic to bring on Miss Lady Vanessa who is a full-service sex worker based in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Vanessa tells us the most fascinating story of her life in sex work beginning at the ripe age of 16, being groomed by a local pimp in the big city of Vancouver and getting into sex work in the early 1990s. At the time, sex work, besides stripping amongst other things, was really limited to the streets. She was a street-level prostitute for 3 years when she got “hooked”. After her hiatus, a friend of hers introduced her as her duo partner for some in-person dominatrix sessions and she was hooked yet again – round 2! This time around, she was able to set herself up independently, specializing in the girlfriend experience and her most popular, option: NuRu. This episode we speak extensively of what exactly NuRu is and why you should try this service out immediately. It’s a super packed episode and a reminiscent look at the past in terms of what the landscape of sex work was like before sites like OnlyFans, PornHub, and Backpage existed. Take a step back in time with this episode because we’re going way back. We hope that you enjoy the ride! Miss Lady Vanessa is also looking for a brand new NuRu mattress! #71 - On the Consumption of Sex Work in the Media: Who is it For? w/ Jessie Sage of Peepshow Media
I am soooo excited to bring to you all this week, Jessie Sage of Peepshow Media! I have this thing of scrolling on Twitter when I wake up in the morning (because, you know, it's the last "safe" platform we have as sex workers) and I remember stumbling upon Jessie's page recently. I creeped all of her links and quickly found out that she is the co-host of The Peepshow Podcast, editor-in-chief of the Peepshow Magazine (which is a killer resource for sex workers) AND she founded Peepshow Media with her also sex working husband, Peej. I was delighted beyond words when she agreed to come on as a guest for my show. Hooray! Jessie and I got into chatting about a LOT of things: parenting as a sex worker, what role age may play in the type of sex work you do, NiteFlirt, our shared hatred for camming, creating content together with your partner, the gracious support from our community and writing about sex work in open society as an out sex worker. Jessie was able to share with me her recent dog piling of a situation when she was asked to write about sugar daddies for a well-known publication and opens up about how sex work is portrayed in the media. We also take note that there as just as many bad journalists out there reporting on our line of work and although you don't necessarily have to be "in" or participate in sex work to be a great reporter, it's vitally important that you understand and conduct adequate research on it to report responsibly. We speak about the anti-work that journalists of this stature do and how dangerous the repercussions can be. We also widely speak about her media company and the excellent work that she is doing by employing other sex worker writers in contributing to this space.  twitter.com/sapiotextual www.jessiesage.com www.peepshowmagazine.com twitter.com/peepshowmedia @curvaceous_sage Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW, and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph www.stephsia.com

#70 - Battling Against Anti-Fat Bias, Fat Politics and Fatphobia within the Sex Industry w/ Evie Brookes
We're gearing up for summer here in Vancouver, Canada (okay, not quite) but this week is all about channeling that BIG. GIRL. ENERGY. I invite escort, Evie Brookes, onto the show this week to speak about her experiences sampling all different types of sex work, finding her niche in escorting, talking all about body image, the terms "BBW" and "plus-size" and reclaiming and owning the word "fat". Evie wears a number of different hats in her life including but not limited to: sex worker, actor, digital content creator, personal stylist and much, much more. In addition to this, she also proudly wears the word "fat" on her shoulders and opens up what it's like to navigate the sex industry as someone who is fat. We speak about the the topic thinprivilege, the differences between being a curvaceous BBW and being fat, and distinguishing that not all fat sex workers are disgusting and raunchy sluts. We talk about desirability amongst larger-bodied women in the industry and what is and what isn't considered sensual. Of course, we discuss all of the stigma that is present and wrapped around the topic amongst those who are considered fat. It is a juuuuuuicy episode and I guarantee y'all will be chanting "big-girl-energy, a big-girl-energy" all week after tuning in.  @big.girl.nrg www.eviebrookes.com onlyfans.com/stevielake twitter.com/evie_brookes Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph www.stephsia.com

#69 - Self-Care, Therapy and Nourishing Your Mental Health w/ Alicia Armstrong of Florida State University and Counselling with Alicia
It's week 2 of Season 3 and I have been meaning to invite this week's guest onto the show for some time now. As I have guest lectured in a couple of her classes over the last year already, her invitation was long overdue. This week I am bringing on licensed therapist and counsellor, as well as adjunct professor of Human Sexuality and Florida State University, Alicia Armstrong, onto the show! With over ten years of experience working in the field, Alicia brings her seasoned expertise working with clients to this week's episode. She is well-versed in sex education, gender as a construct, victims of gendered abuse, sex work, anxiety and depression, and the list goes on. This episode is structured a little differently as there were a lot of questions that came in (we all need a little therapy in our lives, right?) in regards to disconnecting work from intimacy, constant comparisons, dealing with emotional labour and stigmatization, triggers and gaslighting, trauma and more. Honestly, this episode will probably require a second half at some point in the season to go over some of these topics in even more detail as we barely scratched the surface! Alicia also gives some sound advice on how to self-care, how to cope, and how to take care of your mental wellbeing and provides some excellent resources specific to those who partake in the sex work industry. #68 - Fintech: All the Payment Methods You Need to Know About (And Avoid) as a Sex Worker w/ Adrie Rose
Wow... well, WELCOME TO SEASON 3 EVERYONE!!! What an amazing ride this has been so far! Thank you to everyone who has listened, wrote in, asked questions, recommended and referred guests, those who have reached out, and of course, my insanely intelligent guests - I really couldn't have done this with you all. Season 2 was very politically-charged and dived deeper into my advocacy for sex workers. Season 3 will continue onto ride that wave to further educate civilians, aim to decriminalize sex work and to destigmatize the industry. Thank you. For the Season 3 opener, I invited (and surprised) longtime veteran in the sex industry, Adrie Rose. Adrie was a former escort hailing from Miami, Florida and who now resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as she is attending school. She is a sociology graduate and most of her research is focuses on financial institutions and how they respond to the decriminalization of sex work. We first dive into how she got involved with this type of research and how she ended up in it (because she really didn't want to do it before) and we begin to inspect the increasingly difficult ways marginalized people, often BIPOC, in rural communities don't have access to major financial institutions and the challenges on something so simple as starting up a bank account. We discuss the hurdles that these groups of people go through (often street level-based sex workers) and the impacts it may have on them. The conversation gets even juicier when we zoom in on the topic of fintech: technology and innovation involved in the delivery of financial services. Services such as PayPal, Venmo, and Ca$happ are services that we as sex workers are likely very familiar with as we all use them - or have stopped using them - for a good reason. These services are very particular in who can use their services and guess what, sex workers are not included in that group. We also talk briefly about the rise of cryptocurrency in sex work as well as crowdsourcing platforms and areas that are just not safe for sex workers to use anymore. It's a jam-packed episode. BONUS - Stripped by SIA: Destigmatizing the Sex Industry (Virtual Guest Lecture at Simon Fraser University)
Hi folks! Season 2 has officially ended and I will be taking a 1 week break before I debut Season 3 next week! Season 2 was filled with so many political angles, activism from around the world, and revealed the injustices that were happening right here in our community. I'm so excited to bring Season 3 to you but for now, I'll leave you with a fun bonus episode - my recording of my recent guest lecture in Dr. Tamara O'Doherty's criminology class from two weeks ago! It'll just be me speaking on this episode but I am so inspired by all of her engaged students who brought in so many excellent questions and points to the forefront. It is really encouraging to see a genuine interest in this topic that is the sex industry, which we work on. I hope I was able to provide a clear and competing perspective vs. what is taught to us since birth. I challenged these students to be critical thinkers and to deconstruct the intersecting layers present in sex work and to be future change makers. Thank you again, Dr. O Doherty, for inviting me to speak to your insightful class! If you haven't already listened to this genius of a woman, please listen to Episode 62 of the podcast. #67: Mo' Money, Mo' Problems: Financial Literacy, Taxes and Personal Finance w/ Janet
Sex workers, have you done your taxes yet? If not, then you'll want to this listen closely to this episode! I catch up with Janet who is an exotic dancer based in Toronto, Canada and a financial consultant. Having a background in accounting, she wanted to share her knowledge on personal finance and managing money and assets with her peers. To further educate herself, she enrolled herself in to receive financial certification and began to take clients on. I recently attended one of her financial literacy workshops which was catered specifically to benefit and aid sex workers. Are you curious on where to park your money? What about saving your earnings? Protecting your earnings? How do you grow your money the smart way? Janet shares a wealth of knowledge with us on this week's episode which is super timely since it is tax season! She clarifies all of your burning questions - what can we claim and write off, what job category are dancers and sex workers classified under, and the benefits of filling our taxes. We also go deep into the nitty gritty about personal finance regarding different savings accounts, TFSAs, bonds, cryptocurrency, mutual funds, segregated funds and so on. Because Janet is based in Canada, a lot of these terms are in the Canadian context which have American equivalents so keep that in mind. It's an eye-opening episode to say the least so pay attention! ALSO, this is the Season 2 finale of Stripped by SIA! Thank you for an incredibly politically-charged season. 34 episodes of quality content, exceptional guests, and thoughtful conversation. #66 - Culture Vultures, Cancel Culture... Can't We All Exist and Just Be Happy? w/ Virgil Avery of Foxy Fitness
A lot of the season has been politically-charged and an expression of anger and frustration so I thought I'd take a lighter and funner approach this week...but boy, was I wrong! I brought on Virgil Avery of Foxy Fitness and pole dancer manager for Snoop Dogg and a lot of pole dancer/stripper shows out there. Virgil used to work as a bouncer for many stripclubs in NYC and is based in NYC/NJ where he is the first Black and male pole dance studio owner in the world. I have personally trained out of his New York studio where, if you are also a pole dancer, will be familiar with some of the athletes he is pumping out of that studio. As you know, I am both a pole dancer and stripper so the first half of this episode is very pole dance (as a sport/hobby) heavy. But we get into it. The reason I brought Virgil onto the show was not only to highlight his amazing studio, but also to talk about how he is incorporating sex workers into the narrative. His studio is focused on the athletic-side; however, he is an ally and supports sex workers by employing them at his studio and booking them on tour. He is responsible for scouting out pole dancers (from the ones I know, they are all strippers, yay!) for when Snoop Dogg goes on tour and for the entertainment industry. The conversation gets heated at the 45-minute mark because as you know, there has been a surge in wokeness in bringing to light the appropriation of stripper culture, aesthetic and in movement. Perhaps it's an unpopular opinion or an exhaustive expression, but can't we all just be happy? Virgil makes some excellent points, not to ruffle feathers, but to see it from a positive, yet still inclusive, perspective. Can't we all just mutually exist and share? #65 - Consent, Vulnerability and Rape: Full Service or Fully at Risk? w/ Yana Petrova
***TRIGGER WARNING***  The episode will be discussing the topic of rape. Feel free to skip the episode or stop around the 45:00 minute mark if this is a trigger for you. It has been a minute since we've had an escort onto the show so on the Karina Riviera's recommendation (Season 1, Episode 25), I invite her duo and bestie, Yana Petrova. This full service escort is based in Vancouver, Canada and we explore how she got into the industry, mistakes she made when she first started and what eventually led to her branching off on her own. I gush over her beautifully-made website (which she designed herself!), services and current offerings and how this sets her apart from other service providers. She's a self-described slut who loves her profession, including the fun duos and sessions she's had over the past two years. We also discuss the important topics of boundaries and consent - how to communicate this with your clients, improving how you filter through clients and better your security. A topic that we haven't discussed enough on the podcast is rape. Yana shares with me her intimate story of getting raped and reveals that this is the reality for many of us sex workers. As sex workers, we get raped. Full service sex workers are unfortunately, at a higher risk due to the nature of this profession. It's an impact episode and a conversation that we, as sex workers need to have with ourselves and our protected peers. We are diving deep into the wild world of foot fetishes and all its subgenres. Ever heard of trampling? Crush? Vore? Giantess? We go into it ALL of it. We can also break down the foot fetish down to its roots. Where does it come from, where does it originate, the psyche behind it and the allure. We also speak about what's popular and what works. Believe it or not, it's more than just taking a few pictures of your toes or selling a sock that you wore around the house for an hour. What about the curl, the scent, the toenail colour, the instep, and the nylons? Oh yes, nylon fetish is a big one! We also don't forget how SOSTA/FESTA is looped into all of this and and how the fetishization of feet and even the sexualization of inanimate objects is enough to boot one off of major social platforms. OH, and don't you think that we forgot to discuss foot jobs and foot sex! I'm telling you - this is a toe-curlingly good, jam-packed episode that you absolutely do not want to miss. #63 - Screening, Security and Safety: Dealing with Harassment and Stalkers w/ The Hedanista
As sex workers (and as womxn in general), we have the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with an exceptional amount of harassment. Whether it's unsolicited dick pics, countless DMs in your inbox or something as simple as cat calling when you're walking down the street, we are constantly subject to this. It's never fun. But sometimes these "harmless" things can take a turn and snowball into something even scarier: further harassment and stalking where you now have to get legal and the police involved. I invite The Hedanista onto the show today to speak about her experience. We talk about her line of sex work (erotic masseuse and domination) and review some screening processes and precautions that she takes to ensure her safety in her line of work. We also talk about how important setting your boundaries area and outlining cases where boundaries have been crossed and how to recover from it. In The Hedanista's case, she became romantically-involved with one of her former client's who, after the breakup, continued to harass her via text to her personal phone, the use of in-app text messages and calls, sending her threatening messages and contacting her work. She had to get legal aid involved which helped her get out of her situation. We also discuss next steps - how to reinvent yourself, your mindset, and rebuilding your network and client base from scratch in a safe way. Listen to entire episode to hear her incredibly story of resiliency and grit and to learn how she recovered from this entire ordeal. @the_hypnotic_hedanista_ Reddit: u/thehedonista Pivot Legal Society Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph www.stephsia.com

#62 - The Political Agenda Behind Anti-Human Trafficking Laws w/ Dr. Tamara O'Doherty of SFU's School of Criminology
I am very excited to bring on Dr. Tamara O'Doherty of Simon Fraser University's School of Criminology. SFU is my alma mater and is the #1 school in the nation (Canada) for Criminology so I was super stoked to invite Tamara onto the show to share her expertise, research and findings on the topic at-hand this week. As sex workers, we are are deeply affected by the anti-human trafficking laws the were enacted by governments around the world. We've mentioned this particular topic a countless number of times on the podcast and it continues to be brought up due to its negative impact on sex workers. In Canada, Tamara and I speak about Bill-36 which was enacted in 2014 by Stephen Harper and the Conservative government, dissecting on how confusing the verbatim and title were as well as the political agenda behind it. On a parallel note, we discuss the USA's SOSTA/FESTA which was enacted in 2016 by the Trump administration (and even earlier by the Bush administration) and the cuts it has made on the sex industry. In addition to this, we speak briefly about the Nordic model or "asymmetrical criminalization" of sex work and what that means for sex workers.  As a former graduate of SFU's School of Criminology, I value Tamara's expert opinion, research and advocacy on the topic. I will be guest lecturing in her class on April 5th, 2021 - stay tuned for a future bonus episode! #61 - A Gendered Approach to Sex Work, Third Party Management and Legal Proceedings w/ Dr. Tuulia Law, Jennifer and Janie from Work Safe Twerk Safe
We've got a few bodies onto the show today! I am super excited to invite Dr. Tuulia Law, Jennifer* and Janice* from Work Safe Twerk Safe onto the show today! It's a 50/50 split in today's episode where I spend the first half of the episode speaking with Dr. Law from the Criminology department of York University discussing her extensive work and research in sex work. I ask her why this research is so sorely needed and why she decided to take the academia route. We then dive deeper into her specific work involving third parties and management within indoor forms of sex work and the challenges she has seen, the findings that have been drawn to her work and where we see her research taking her.  The second half of the episode is spent not only with Dr. Law but also her co-founder, Jennifer, and colleague, Janice, from Work Safe Twerk Safe, a stripper-led organization based in Ontario, Canada that provides access to legal aid, resources, and workshops for sex workers in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). We discuss the excellent work that they are doing, how and why they decided to organize and everything that they currently offer. We also discuss their current ongoing legal case against the Government of Toronto (hint: THEY WON THEIR CASE LAST WEEK!) and the aid that they are seeking for their causes. I loved discussing everything that they are doing to help sex workers and it is 100% worth a listen! #60 - The Ultimate Guide to Selling Your Used Panties w/ Dalma Rosa of the Panty Selling Podcast
Oooooh, this is a good one. And I'm ashamed to admit I haven't done an episode on this subject but here goes! This week's episode is all about selling your used panties. Has this thought ever come across your mind? Maybe it piqued your interest while watching the last couple seasons of Orange is the New Black? Perhaps you may have considered it. Even if you haven't, you'll still want to listen in to this episode as I have got the ultimate guest on this week to share the ins and outs of this business: Dalma Rosa of the Panty Selling Podcast! Dalma has been in the panty selling game for the past two years and has been so gracious to share her mistakes, tips, and overall expertise on the world of used panties. No, selling used panties is not just a stereotypical thing that Japanese men are into (nor do we even discuss the on the pod!) but it is a viable source of income and is an industry that is thriving. Dalma and I discuss the marketing around buying and selling, the logistics when it comes to shipping your used goods out (and best practices on how to preserve the scent!), safety and security surrounding your pictures and videos, the types of underwear are the most popular, where her clients are located, and so much more. That, and we'll be discussing Dalma's other ventures that she has started since this whole thing unexpectedly blew up for her. Tune in and maybe we'll be seeing you on one of the many used ware sites on the web! Dalma has also been so generous to give listeners of Stripped by SIA 20% off all available courses on PantySellingSchool.com as well as 10% off all purchases on Pantygasm.com using code "SIA" at checkout. #59 - Check Yourself: Undoing, Unlearning and Unraveling w/ AMD of Yes, a Stripper Podcast
Just keeping the momentum going here with super strong, incredible and knowledgeable guests in the sex worker space making a difference and making waves. I invited AMD of the Yes, A Stripper Podcast to come onto the show to speak intimately about her experiences stripping in LA, the realization of her white privilege, the gentrification of strip clubs in LA, social media monitoring censorship, amputation and more. I get up close and personal with AM as she lets us into her world. This serial entrepreneur opens up about her various ventures in both sex worker advocacy (Soldiers of Pole) and the pole dancing world (United Pole Artists and Everybody Visible) and the divide that has been going on FOREVER and what her thoughts on it in this current environment. No conversation in regards to the policing of sex work is complete without a mention of FOSTA/SESTA and we briefly touch on that topic in regards to the censorship that's happening in our space. #58 - Fight or Flight: Movement as Therapy w/ Nicky Ninedoors
Get your seatbelts on. I've been trying to get this week's guest on the show since Season 1 and she's finally here. Please welcome Nicky Ninedoors on the show! Nicky is an all-around artist. She is a well-known burlesque dancer, stripper, pilates and pole dancing instructor, healer, singer, pianist and so, so much more. She was able to let us in to her private life and lead us down on how she got started in the biz. From her roots in burlesque to overcoming her whorephobia to start stripping four years later and now, dancing virtually online at the Cellar Door Strip Club, she has been on a wild ride! The bulk of this episode also has a lot to with past sexual trauma and how she is choosing to cope with that: through physical movement. Nicky discovered that staying static hurt her body and that by continually moving, the pain hurt less. She gives us a psychological breakdown of what our bodies go into in fight or flight moments, how much cortisol we need, and even to further explain mere glances our parents did or did not give us growing up. It is a fascinating lesson and I'm so glad she was able to share her wealth of knowledge with us this week. We also briefly speak about her Stripper with a Camera venture, battling censorship and SOSTA/FESTA and more. It's a long episode but trust me, you'll want to listen to in its entirety. #57 - To Hell with the "Bad Mom" Stereotype: Motherhood and Sex Work w/ Lil Kat
We've all heard the negative stereotypes when it comes to sex work, but it gets worse when you or if you decide to bear a child. Calgary-based stripper, Lil Kat, joins me on the show this week to speak about the additional struggles of being a mom AND being a sex worker. The mislabeling of sex worker moms is a tired double standard which continues to happen to this day. We discuss Sigmund Freud's Madonna/whore complex which is still perpetuated to all moms today, regardless of their occupation; however, it hits harder when it comes to sex workers. Lil Kat opens up about the challenges she currently faces as a dancer which come from outsiders looking in, friends and family and even her partner. But it's not all negative - we also discuss the pros of being a sex worker during pregnancy, working conditions in corporate jobs vs. the sex industry, and the perks of creating content on your own time on various platforms (Lil Kat uses Premium Snapchat, OnlyFans, and her own direct site). Oh, and I spill a little tea on the Elle Stanger controversy which you can look up on your own time! @lilkatattack twitter.com/lilkatattack tiktok.com/lilkatattack Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph www.stephsia.com

#56 - An Erotic Masseuse's Happy Ending: Adult Spas, Exit Plans and Branding w/ Lexie Caldera
It may have taken me 56 episodes + 18 bonus episodes BUT I've finally sourced an erotic masseuse fit for the show!  Thanks to a fellow listener and fan (thanks Dan!), I bring Canadian erotic masseuse, Lexie Caldera, onto the show to speak about her experience working in adult spas. What actually goes on behind closed doors? How do you give a happy ending? Are extras include? How does the whole thing work!? Lexie explains it ALL to us in major detail so you'll want to be listening closely. She also invites us in deeper into her personal life about she how she started sex work as a teen advertising on Craigslist, how she navigated through coming out to her conservative family, hitchhiking and train hopping all throughout Canada and more. I could have literally talked to her forever about this stuff (so interesting!) but Lexie also gives us the down low on how to effectively brand yourself as a sex worker and how freakin' important it is to save money, plan for the future and create an exit plan, and not just blow it all away in one go. It's a super insightful episode and I'm ashamed that it took me so damn long to find a suitable guest for this topic but I assure you that it is well worth the wait! @lexie.caldera www.lexiecaldera.ca twitter.com/lexiecalderaxo facebook.com/lexiecalderaxo Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph

#55 - Lies, Threats and Dishonesty: Agency Corruption in Strip Clubs w/ Onyx Sachi
It's been a long time coming but due to many listener requests, I have finally got my hands on getting the legendary Onyx Sachi on the show this week! I am so incredibly excited to have this 2x Miss Nude Westcoast, award-winning choreographer, instructor and stripper to speak about her experiences on the pod. If you have or haven't been following on Instagram, this 15-year veteran dancer was fired for speaking up about the mysterious and unfair cuts she spotted on her paycheques. She pointed this out on her story and soon enough, she was let go from the agency. We discuss how she has been dealing with being let go, pivoting the type of work she's been doing and the doors this experience has opened for her. We also talk about the differences between independent contracting vs. employee status and how that affects strippers on the west coast of Canada. I try and pry as much as I can on her ongoing legal case against the club, civil action that you can take if you're a dancer if this has happened to you, the ongoing petition and her upcoming book deal. It was an absolute pleasure to have this powerhouse of a dancer on the show - listen in! @onyxsachi @iconyxeliteentertainment SIGN THE PETITION - Systemic Oppression in Canadian Strip Clubs Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph www.stephsia.com

#54 - A Crash Course on Indigeneity, Indigenous Performanceship and Responsible Kink w/ Lynx Chase
I'm baaaaaaaack! It's 2021 and although I had released a bonus episode last week, I am really kicking things into high gear with this week's guest, Lynx Chase, who is officially ringing in 2021 on the pod! Lynx is a Metis, French and Lithuanian stripper, burlesque artist and kinkster who I have been dying to speak with FOREVER. They are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to BDSM and kink positivity and which they happily shed light on. A bulk of the episode goes into speaking about their Indigenous ancestry and what that means for them. Identifying in one of the most marginalized minority groups, I ask Lynx on their experiences of being of mixed ancestry. We learn a bit about Indigenous history in Canada (also applicable to the USA) and how this painful colonization has played in their Indigeneity, sexuality, and performanceship. We also go into their dancing with the Indigenous burlesque troupe, Virago Nation, their stances on responsible dominance in the kink community and how Aladdin played a part in their sexual awakening as a kid. #53 - The Gentrification of the Exotic Dancer w/ Madame Nova Caine
The last episode of the year and we are going out with a BAAAAAAANG!  I invite Madame Nova Caine onto the show to speak about...pretty much everything. 53 episodes in and it's important to review and educate all you listeners out there where the term "exotic" in exotic dancer came from. We dive deep into the history of sex work, acknowledging its colonial roots as brown and black bodies being a muse for the white man and how this colonizing perspective is found even in today's world. The competing views of sex workers and the pole community continue to be on edge as we discuss the Pleasers controversy that happened earlier this month and what Nova Caine believes how erotic movement classes should be taught in studios. We also get cozy with Nova Caine as she shares with us intimate details of her military discharge and the role it played in her family, her sex work and the chronic pain it left her at age 21 and how stripping serves as physical therapy for her. We get into some heated topics on this episode but the overarching theme is the same: giving credit where credit is due.  Thank you again to all of the loyal listeners. Oh, and not to mention she is one HELL OF A TALKER (which is precisely why I brought her onto the show)! We discuss in detail Instagram's tireless plight to censor sex workers, shadowbanning in all forms in both past and present, and the overall erasure of women's bodies on their platform. We speak about the #notastripper athletic pole dancers and the divide between pole dancing and sex workers. We also discuss the current political climate in America, SOSTA/FESTA, the laws that are being enacted in LA clubs and continue the conversation regarding independent contracting and being an employee of strip clubs and the parameters surrounding each side. #51 - Devotees and Disability Fetish: The Act of Caring or Crossing the Line? w/ Rafael Hotrod
***TRIGGER WARNING*** This week I will be discussing sex work and disability. If this triggers you, you may want to skip this episode. I invite disabled sex worker, Rafael Hotrod, onto the show today to speak about his sexuality, how he expresses that in his disabled state, the stigma that comes with a physical disability, finding carecaregivers and more. He has recently forayed into sex work during the pandemic after years of pondering and has finally taken the plunge. What made him do it? Is there a market out there for disabled bodies? How does he shoot his content? From having years of experience with gay male escorts, Rafael has finally started to produce his own content. He shares with us a fetish that I had no idea about: disability fetish. He explains the different subgroups of disability, devotee community, admirers, pretenders and more. I know what some of you may be thinking: this isn't moral, this is unethical but hear this one out. #50 - The Rights Sex Workers Don't Have and the Wrongs on the Policing of Women's Bodies w/ Sonia Nowak
This week, we're flying over to POLAND to speak with sex worker and activist, Sonia Nowak. Sonia started in sex work when she was in Poland and later took those skills to London when she was going to school. There, she noticed the injustices that were occurring when it came to sex work, specifically, in regards to stripping. Are we considered as independent contractors or employees? The parameters given by the strip club she was employed at dictated what type of outfits to wear, what hours she was to work, what she could and couldn't do... wait a minute. That doesn't sound like contracting to me - that sounds like employment. Observing these details motivated her to seek out resources for her and other sex workers to organize to build a case against the club and seek to form a union because sex workers deserve to be afforded basic human rights (DAMN RIGHT!). And her involvement with activism doesn't just stop there. Sonia was also recently taking part at the recent protests in Poland surrounding the anti-abortion laws and governing women's bodies. She is an opinionated and intelligent woman and I am so glad to have connected with her and to have had her on the show! @imyourelectricgirl www.twitter.com/electricgirl666 www.facebook.com/imyourelectricgirl Additional information re: sex worker unions, gathering + supplemental resources IG: @unitedstrippersoftheworld www.twitter.com/unitedswers Sex Work Polska East London Strippers Collective History re: SW organizing in the UK Dancers are workers: Nowak v Cahndler Bars Group Ltd and the history of dancer organizing in London Fundraiser to support Polish sex workers Dziewuchy London Don't forget to RATE, REVIEW, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph Stripped by SIA on Facebook www.twitter.com/stephsia www.stephsia.com

#49 - Paying For Sex: Just For Sex or Something More? w/ Miguel*
We're flipping the table this week on the podcast as I bring a client onto the show - please welcome Miguel* (not his actual name). Miguel comes to the show with a plethora of experience as a loyal client of many different escorts in the city (including past guests on my show). His curiosity first originated in erotic massage parlours and then graduated to full service sex workers via Backpage and Craiglist (RIP!). Miguel shares his experiences regarding why he chooses to pay for sex, what comfort it brings him, and why he continues to seek professional sexual treatment. Is it just for the sex? Is it a form of therapy? Companionship? Not only does he go over the obvious, but we also divulge in him being scammed, catfished and his own personal boundaries being crossed by sex workers. They say there are bad apples in every batch and the sex work industry is not exempt. We also go over client etiquette, what to expect on your first session, keywords to look for in ads that may be red flags and more. This episode is for anyone who is seeking sex work as a client and even for sex workers as well on how to better improve your ads, helpful tips in protecting yourself and basically, the curious! #48 - Finding a Niche Feeding Hungry Strippers in the Stripper Capital of the USA w/ Nikeisah Newton of Meals 4 Heels
We're talking about two of my favourite things this week: food and sex work. That, along with two of my other favourite topics on the podcast: resiliency and allyship. I catch up with Nikeisah Newton of the Portland-based, Meals 4 Heels, a late-night food delivery service fueling hungry strippers with healthy and wholesome food. It was a niche that Nikeisah identified when she left her job as a cook in Portland's restaurant scene. Wanting to support her then dancer ex-girlfriend, she packed up some home cooked lunches for her which she brought to the club and ended up drawing some attention from other local dancers. Before she knew it, things started taking off and word let out. She's now not only feeding sex workers across Portland, but also providing food to the Portland's frontline workers, protesters, LGBTQ and the greater community. #47 - "Would You Like Whipped Cream on That?" - A Caffeinated Conversation with a Bikini Barista w/ Mya Banks
I've been following one of Vancouver's local dancers on Instagram for a little while now only to find out that she's moved down to AMERICA! Wait, what? During a global pandemic? HOW?! I caught up with Mya Banks to speak about her big move down to Washington and her new career change: a bikini barista. From stripping on western Canada's stages to club closures due to the pandemic and a heartbreaking familial situation, Mya decided it was time to pack up and leave. It was time for a new change. With the big move, she had to pivot and find a new job. She was able to find a job that mixed her exhibitionism and killer good looks as a bikini barista. What is that exactly? A naked Starbucks? How do you get paid? What does that entail? You'll have to listen to the entire episode to find out about this form of sex work and how lucrative it can really be. #46 - Body Positivity and Comfortability in Your Own Skin Within Sex Work w/ Karla Lane
This week, I bring on multi AVN award-winning and BBW Performer of the Year, Karla Lane, onto the podcast! We talk about her start in the porn industry (including how she lost her virginity!), how the porn industry has shifted over the past 15 years, and her favourite porn scenes to shoot. We also speak on a much deeper level when it comes to body positivity - how she learned at a young age to be comfortable in her own skin and to not compare herself with others growing up and how much she's taken that advice to heart. We discuss the dynamics between the terms "BBW" and "plus-size" and what it's like to be a "fat pornstar". She's not only a phenomenal sex worker, but she also owns her own farm and grows her own herbs as well which gets my food nerd juices going. Karla was an absolute JOY to interview and as she said, she's not just known for the bomb ass body she's in, but rather, she is well-known for her warm and welcoming personality. I love the message that she spreads in this episode and I hope that this can help other sex workers with this simple phrase: you are beautiful.  IG: @karlalanex www.karlalanexxx.com twitter.com/karlaxxxlane onlykarla.com Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph

She is one of the top creators on OnlyFans in the Philippines which is risky business considering you CAN'T EVEN HAVE AN ACCOUNT if you're based in the Philippines. Wild, eh? We talk about how she dropped her digital marketing career for sex work, how she got canceled and outed to her parents, how she balances sex work and relationships and so much more tea! We also discuss in depth about how cyber sex laws operate in the Philippines and how they force Filipino sex workers to become super resourceful...but at the expense of themselves being outed, losing their PayPal accounts, and basically risking it all. In this long-form episode, we also discuss how conglomerate entities do not support sex workers in any capacity, shedding light on where you should/shouldn't deposit your money, marketing tactics on the web, etiquette for both service providers and clients, and much, much more. It is a LONG episode and I can only hope you can tune in to listen to it all! #43 - Returning to the Strip Club as a First Time Mother w/ Sasha Belle
I am very excited to bring on Sasha Belle onto the show this week! A fan favourite and highly requested guest, Sasha joins us after completing her first week back at the clubs after having a newborn baby (congrats!). Prior to her being a mom, Sasha was winning titles all over the west coast of Canada as her debut as an exotic dancer following a bad break up. Sasha just had a baby boy 6 months ago and she shares with us her struggles with being a mother, postpartum depression, mental wellbeing, and expectations.  She also opens up to us about her outlook on stripping, how she approaches customers, body image, and overall, trying to re-navigate the stage and the floor. We are more than happy to have her back on stage again and so very excited to have her provide quality entertainment to us and also congratulate her on becoming a mom! #42 - The Not So Average Job of Being a Production Manager in the Adult Industry w/ Mo Reese
We're flipping the perspective this week and we're diving deep behind the scenes with Mo Reese. Mo is a veteran production manager, producer, and director of 15+ years of experience in the adult industry and has possibly worked with or shot with your favourite pornstars! As a photographer by trade, he ended up in the industry by accident. Since then he hasn't left the scene. Since then, he's flourished from being a stunt dick on set and creating a ton his own online content with his polyamorous girlfriend (and also, fellow pornstar), Karla Lane, amongst other pornstars. He's also the host of his own podcast, More with Mo, where he interviews hundreds of pornstars (literally, he's over 300+ episodes now!). Mo doesn't shy away from the dirty and super technical details of what goes really goes down on a porn set. Does he get turned on when he's shooting? What are the best "OMG" stories and shocking stories? All this and more on this week's episode. #41 - Getting the Hang of Aerial Rope Bondage and Shibari w/ Joyen Santos
We are flying across the pond over to Manila, the Philippines to speak with my girl, Joyen Santos, to speak about the niche art of aerial rope bondage and shibari! Joyen comes from a multidisciplinary background originating in photography and moving over to sensual movement in burlesque, floor work, stripping, pole dance and more. She is an icon in the Philippines (she is featured as a Playboy Playmate and has her own Cards of Humanity card!!) in east Asia who has established herself in the kink world. Her "by accident" introduction into kink industry has garnered her a lot of attention in Southeast Asia and over globe. Her extensive training in the Philippines and in Japan has helped her perfect this unique kink and gathered her fans across the world. Coming from humble beginnings navigating through the Philippines' conservative atmosphere has helped her emerge as an artist and as a go-to role model in the kink community. BONUS - The Token Asian: LIVE from the 2020 Sugar and Spice Sex Festival w/ Jolene Salonga, Naomi Vice, Salome Salvi and Joyen Santos
BONUS EPISODE TIME!  I was invited to moderate a panel at the 2020 Sugar and Spice Sex Festival this past August alongside some of my past guests (Jolene Salonga aka Pocket Phoenix and Naomi Vice) and future guests (Salome Salvi and Joyen Santos) on the podcast. The festival took place from August 1 - 15th was a completely virtual festival based in Singapore with most of the guests and audience-members based in Asia-Pacific. The aim of the festival was to change the belief that people raised in traditional societies are unable to express themselves when it comes to sex – what are their preferences and attitudes. The festival attempts to fill the gaps on the lack of sexual education and positive role models when it comes to sexuality. This long-form podcast episode is dedicated to being "the token Asian". Our 100% Filipino-based panel compares and contrasts North American and Asian perspectives on sex work and how they share similarities and how they are also so very different. We discuss the history of colonialism in the Philippines, how our ideals are shaped in regards to roots in Catholicism and religion-based upbringing, colourism, fetishization of Asian bodies, sex work and human trafficking, parallels with policymaking and laws, education and ongoing progress. It is a super PACKED episode (dude, it's nearly 2 hours long!) and we deep dive into some of these troubling topics. Thank you again to Martha Lee and the all of the organizers at the Sugar and Spice Sex Festival - it was a complete honour to speak at the festival and to have the opportunity to reach a wider audience. #40 - To Come Out or to Not Come Out? Mixing Civilian Work and Sex Work w/ Caitlyn Marie
Ahhhhh.... the age old adage: to come out or to not come out? I'm not referring to sexuality - I'm talking about whether to not you should come out to your coworkers. Maybe you're been working a civilian job for a while or maybe you've transitioned out of sex work and starting to work in the civilian sphere. It's not a black and white equation - it's really hard to determine whether or not you should come full circle.  My guest this week, Caitlyn Marie, or her stage name, Tiffany of Hearts, speaks exactly to this topic. Having been on both sides of the fence - being outed by her colleagues and let go from her trade job in Ontario to being welcomed with open arms in her profession - she shares with us the ups and the downs of it all. Although Caitlyn works full-time in the trades, she also works in the evenings and weekends as an exotic dancer. She didn't want to have to choose between both of her jobs so she decided to keep them both. She even traveled across Canada (more than a few times!) and happily shares some insight on dancing in many of the clubs across the country. It is a PACKED episode which will hopefully give you some insight to determine if you should come clean to your coworkers about your sex work job or past. #39 - Down in the Valley: Dissecting the Show "P-Valley" and Sharing Black Sex Workers' Stories w/ Kat Daniels
Is anyone else hyped about the new Starz show, "P-Valley"? I liked the show so much that I wanted to do a weekly recap on each episode but decided to do a Season 1 dissection instead with a listener! Fan of the show and podcast, London, Ontario-based dancer, Kat Daniels, joins me this week to dissect our new favourite show, P-Valley. P-Valley debuted in July and has been generally met with positive reviews by critics and sex workers. It is based in the Mississippi Delta and tells the story of the women that work at the local strip joint, The Pynk, and the relationships that they have with those who surround them. I was impressed with the detail that they had put in the show and the amount of consultation that producer and playwright, Katori Hall, put into the show. The women-produced show deals with issues that sex workers face, racism, classism, colourism, gender bending, sexuality, domestic violence, gentrification and more. There are SO many intersectionalities within the show and Kat and I do our best to unpack it all. ***SPOILER ALERT*** If you haven't watched the show, I'd urge you to watch it - I'd love to hear your thoughts (good and bad) on it! If not, You can stop at 28:35 as to not spoil the rest of the show for you! IG: @katxdaniels Don't forget to RATE, REVIEW, LIKE, and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph

#38 - Fuck Bella Thorne: Sex Worker Appropriation and Celebrities Ruining It For All of Us w/ Saskia
I think by now everyone is acquainted with what's happening with Bella Thorne and the OnlyFans controversy and of course, I just had to address it on the show! I invited exotic dancer, Saskia, to join me on the show today. She's a fierce and VERY opinionated spirit hailing all the way from Montreal, Canada who wanted to share her two cents on sex worker appropriation. This is happening a lot lately. We're seeing that more and more civilians are once again, taking "interest" in sex work. There has been a huge influx of civvies joining OnlyFans and pole studios thanks to blockbuster hits like Hustlers and strippers being used in major media. This is great and we're all for it; HOWEVER, it's not okay when there is an deliberate erasure of the sex work narrative which is an obvious root in this type of inspiration. Saskia and I banter back and forth about how celebrities and influencers need to give credit where credit is due and to support our fellow sex workers. There is ample opportunity on these celebrity platforms to shed light and to draw attention to how we can help sex workers instead of taking up space. All of this and more on this explosive episode of Stripped by SIA. #37 - "I Was That Stereotype": Struggling with Substance Abuse within the Stripping Community w/ Natashka
A lot of the episodes on this podcast have been centred around consent, free choice and agency. I've been so focused on sharing stories of successive cases that challenge the stereotype of strippers that the media has shoved down our throats since we were born. You know what I'm talking about: substance abuse, drunk, high on drugs and the like. But what about those strippers who actually fall right into that aesthetic? They exist too and their experiences are completely valid. I speak with Portland-based stripper and dear friend, Natashka, who shares with me that it's not all about the lifestyle. Sure, the money is great, the drugs are accessible and the high is even better. Her story is deeply personal and her substance abuse is so entangled with the environment she worked in as well: the strip club she worked at. She struggled with a deadly mix of aderrall, cocaine and wine which lead her down a slippery slope of addiction while working as a stripper and her road to recovery wasn't easy. Now at six months sober, she's ready to share her experience for the first time. It's an important discussion to have in order to look at the big picture and dismantle this type of stereotype at its core. It is a RIVETING episode - you do not want to miss it! #36 - The Fine Line of Fetishization and the Kinks You've Likely Never Heard Of w/ Vivika Vaughn
We're digging deeper into the the topic of fetish, kink and BDSM with seductress, Vivika Vaughn. Vivika is a fellow exotic dancer, fire breather, and domme. She has been heavily involved in the fetish and kink communities in Vancouver, Canada. As a trained burlesque dancer, she branched off into other forms of movement to express her sexuality and sensuality and now uses her multidisciplinary skills in her fetish and kink work. We discuss specific fetishes like sissification, crossdressing, forced feminization, cock and ball torture and much more in detail and how there is a very fine line between fetishizing trans folx and it being on the cusp of their self-actualization. Vivika and I tread lightly on this topic and invite the trans sex worker community to share their stories - something that needs to be discussed in this line of work. We also talk about her contrasting work in the strip club and also how to utilize and navigate around the sex worker platform, Sextpanther. #35 - Taking a Peek into the Porn Industry from a Cismale Perspective w/ Jesse Black
This week, we're diving back into the world of porn! I speak with fellow Canadian pornstar, Jesse Black, on his very unlikely entry into the porn industry, behind the scenes challenges, what it's really like in porn houses, some pro tips on how to effectively navigate around your civilian job to attend porn shoots internationally and more! Jesse identifies as a cismale and shoots from a heteronormative point of view. It's important that I cover this perspective on the podcast and also acknowledge the misogyny that happens with porn performers of other gender identities. It is a fully loaded (pun intended) episode. I shot out some questions to the audience before and there were a TON of questions that came in surrounding the porn industry and sex work in general - are you guys giving me a hint that I need to interview more pornstars?! Roll your eyes all you want about phone sex but it's still around. I know what you're thinking. "Really? Those cheesy commercials from the 90s still exist?". I was just as surprised as you are and our guest this week, Sultry Sitara from NiteFlirt, is here to diminish those assumptions. WE ARE BACK! And by "we", I mean me! Season 2 is here and I am so excited to finally launch after weeks of bonus episodes and miniseries. Season 2 will features a plethora of guests, not to mention it will be borderless (hello international sex worker friends!), and will continue to educate sex workers and civilians on the topic of destigmatizing sex work. To kick off Season 2 of the pod, I invite Dominatrix Amber Lush onto the podcast who joins us waaaaaaay across the pond in Singapore! Amber is a former teacher turned full-time pro domme and a veteran in the BDSM and kink community in Singapore. We speak about how rooted Singapore is in Asian values and traditional narratives and how that affects sex work and even her work as a domme. We compare and contrast Asian cultures vs. North American culture in terms of how sex work is viewed, how Singapore's governing laws are unclear and how she has been adapting since COVID-19 hit. We also dive into the topic of other types of sex work (ie. host bars) and brothels are prevalent in the country and much, much more.  IG: @dominatrixamber twitter.com/dominatrixamber onlyfans.com/dominatrixamber singapore-dominatrix.com I will also be moderating a panel on the topic of sex work in Asian culture, specifically the Filipino community in Canada and the Philippines, at the Sugar and Spice Virtual Sex Festival (www.sugarandspice.asia) on August 9th. BLM Series 3: Dismantling Whiteness in Burlesque and the Need for Anti-Racist Coaching w/ Miss Monday Blues
Continuing the Black narrative in our Black Lives Matter miniseries, we continue to showcase and highlight Black voices in our community. This week, I invited Miss Monday Blues to speak on the podcast on how White the burlesque community is, navigating with the autoimmune disease, lupus, and how that's affected her artistry and her wildly successful anti-racist coaching programs. We bring up a topic that is so blatantly obvious, even to outsiders: the Whiteness amongst burlesque dancers. Why is it so White? What strides is the community taking to dismantle and challenge that narrative? And what can we do to help? Speaking of helping and ally ship, it is SO important to engage in anti-racist coaching. Miss Monday Blues offers unique coaching and consulting designed specifically for White folx and BIPOC to help navigate through this emotionally-sensitive time. Also, HUGE announcement at the end of the episode! This is the final episode of the BLM miniseries on the pod! Thank you ALL for listening! This is not the end of BLM; I will continue to include, as I've always done before, a multitude of BIPOC, LGBTQI+ and varied sex workers on my show....as...SEASON 2 will begin NEXT WEEK! Yay! It was a complete honour to have been asked to speak to a group of aspiring and future leaders in order to better understand our industry and profession. It was an incredible opportunity to have a chance to eliminate any stereotypes or misconceptions the audience may have had prior to the class, largely due in part to the media and overall stereotypes about sex workers. I got a chance to speak with fellow off-work-due-to-COVID exotic dancer, Gypsy Eboni, this week. She identifies as an Afro-Indigenous and queer individual and I had the opportunity to catch up with her on the Black Lives Matter movement and Juneteenth. She had attended both of the peaceful and anti-racist rallies in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on June 5th and 19th and was able to contribute to the latter through song. She performed her original song, "I Can't Breathe" at Sunset Beach where the march ended and reflected on her experience performing such a heavy piece in front of thousands. Her employment in the sex industry was physically short, recently celebrating her 1-year anniversary; however, she was able to shift her work online which she is enjoying. COVID-19 Series 5: The Tangled Web of L4L, S4S and Telegram Drops w/ Asia and Pocket Phoenix
I'm always curious to see how sex workers are compensating for loss of revenue during this pandemic. Recently, I was invited to some Like 4 Like (L4L), Share 4 Share (S4S) and Telegram drop groups on Instagram and although I didn't stay long, I wanted to divulge into the topic. Other women I knew that were involved in the groups were Asia and Pocket Phoenix, two past guests here on the podcast (episode 2 and 23, respectively). COVID-19 Series 1: What About our Street Sex Workers? w/ Morgan Sexter of WISH Vancouver
I'm not quite finished yet. I just can't seem to sit idly while the entire world is on lockdown when there are still so many issues we are facing as sex workers. But I wanted to highlight a voice that probably isn't listening to this podcast and hasn't been represented on the show yet: our street sex workers.  I spoke with Morgan Sexter this week, a fellow dancer who is currently working with WISH Vancouver on their Mobile Access Project (MAP Van). WISH Vancouver is a non-profit organization which works to provides harm reduction services, shelter, food and resources for Vancouver's street se workers. Morgan and I speak about the challenges street and survival sex workers are facing, currently and also in the time of COVID-19, how this virus has affected their income, their clients and even the drop-in centres. BONUS - Ask Me Anything: My Story on Stripping, Podcasting and Sugaring
Well, this might be the most narcissistic episode ever. Just kidding. You asked and you have received: my AMA episode! I answer ALL of your questions regarding how I got started in the industry, pole dancing, my life before sex work, how I started this podcast, hustling tips, sex work channels, and a whoooooole lot on my time as a sugar baby, then and now. This was a really reflective episode and honestly, I had a lot of fun! I know a lot of you had questions throughout Season 1 and I've now had time (thanks to this COVID-19 lockdown) to answer it all. Thank you all for your questions and support over Season 1 of Stripped by SIA. British Columbia may be lifting some of our lockdown regulations this month so I'm hoping to get Season 2 out to you as soon as that it is possible.  Don't forget to like, rate, share and subscribe! @strippedbysia @siasteph

BONUS - Sex Work in the Time of COVID-19
Surprise! I'm BACK with a bonus episode for all y'all. I was itching to record again and it felt a little bittersweet and honestly a bit of a disservice to not address how the sex industry has been affected by the coronavirus so this episode is dedicated to all facets of how we are dealing with the effects of COVID-19. No guests this week - just me, myself and I. I tackle subjects on how sex workers, clients and small business owners are handling this virus, online work vs. physical work, a post-COVID society and normalcy, the Canadian government and sex workers and where this podcast is going. There was a LOT to cover so be sure endure all of my rambling and tangents and to listen to the very end of the podcast for some exciting announcements in the near future. #32 - I'm a Slave For You: All About Feet Fetishes w/ My Slave
Have you ever been curious about the men who are into feet fetishes? Or what about those guys that send you messages on IG for feet photos in exchange for money? Well, you guys, I've got one of them on the show this week - introducing MY SLAVE! We're flipping things a bit here and seeing the client's perspective on this one and to understand the psyche of those who are into feet. Feet fetishes makes up the largest group, and not to mention the most common, in the kinky community. We cover a little bit of everything on today's episode (ALSO, possible LAST episode of Season 1?! Damn you, COVID-19!) including trampling, heel insertion, branding, toe sucking and more. Don't be too grossed out - feet fetishes are fairly vanilla in the kink world! Learn some precautionary steps to take both as a client as a service provider and a couple pointers for those who would like to get into this line of work, both virtually and in person. We also speak briefly on what it's like to be an actual slave, what services are provided in that and how I benefit from it. This was such fun episode yet heartbreaking having to halt recording. THANK YOU ALL to those who have listened thus far. Still can't believe 32 episodes have come and gone. I will be starting Season 2 of Stripped by SIA as soon as it is safe to do so when when the COVID-19 pandemic ceases. Thank you for all of your support over the last half of a year - muchas gracias! #31 - Gay Escorting, Gay Porn and Growing up as Gay in the United Arab Emirates w/ Hamed Raidd
We have our very first gay-identifying male sex worker on the show today - please welcome Hamed Raidd! It's so interesting to hear of an individual with so many contradicting backgrounds and layers: identifying as gay, being of Arab descent and growing up in an Islamic country - there is SO much to breathe and take in on this episode! Hamed opens up about growing up in the United Arab Emirates, addressing issues like gender segregation and censorship. Since coming to Canada, he slowly discovered what the term "gay" meant and was intrigued by what he had discovered. He has since then gotten into porn and escorting as a gay male and has faced racial stereotyping and challenges with role playing in porn. As a male, he faces both similar yet very different issues in the sex industry - we uncover these issues and more on this episode. #30 - A Little Less Conversation and a Hell of a Lot of Rock 'N Roll w/ Dora Kola
We're getting a little bit loud and a little bit rowdy today with none other than DORA FUCKING KOLA herself! I'm a supporter of any fellow person of colour (especially Asians!) in the industry and I just knew I had to have her on the podcast at some point. With roots in broadcasting and as an award-winning rock radio DJ, this girl was meant to be an entertainer. The amount of energy and passion she has not only for music and dancing not only shows on-stage, but is also so apparent in her interview here on the pod. But it's not all about the glitz and glam. Dora opens up about how she was bullied as a kid, slut-shamed in high school, experienced online harassment from her former colleagues when working in Alberta and the racism she's felt on stage as an Asian dancer. She spills a LOT on this episode and isn't afraid to throw shade at her haters. Learn more about how music has helped guide her way through life and how it has shaped and changed her as an entertainer. #29 - Going Behind the Scenes with Behind Closed Doors w/ Bianca from Behind Closed Doors
Have you seen those killer music videos floating around on Instagram? Well, even if you haven't you've gotta check them out. We are bringing on the brains behind the lens - please welcome Bianca from Behind Closed Doors on the show this week! She is a fellow ally and is sex work positive - heck, 90% of her clients are in the industry! Whether its escorts, sugar babies, models, or strippers, Bianca helps create content that is high quality, unique, and hella hot. With a longstanding background in film and TV in both Ontario and British Columbia, it was only a matter of time she had to get out of that restrictive box and really hone in on her creativity. A single collaboration with a local stripper and a simple idea in mind, she took and ran with it. She has now shot with a countless number of clients, strip club events and has even had the opportunity to travel abroad for work and does not show any sign of slowing down. We love that her work supports our fellow sex workers and did we mention already how fucking awesome she is?! We are featuring the ever-so-fabulous, Lola Frost, on the show today! A veteran in the burlesque community, runner up in the Burlesque Hall of Fame and consistently in the Burlesque Top 50 for the past 7 years and counting, we are so grateful that Ms. Frost was able to grace us with her presence! From her earlier days first emerging as an emotional tomboy who "didn't even know what burlesque was" to the rock and roll flapper she is today, she happily dishes it all about the world of burlesque on this week's episode. From burlesque to stripping, and as a healer and a teacher, Lola has had a busy past three years touring on the road. #27 - Strippers vs. Pole Dancers + Stripping in Calgary w/ Rosie Skies
We’re going to Calgary today! No, just kidding. Calgary is coming here! Fellow Calgary-based exotic dancer, Rosie Skies, joins us today on the podcast and she breaks down how stripping, gogoing and VIPing operate in Alberta, especially if you’re not dancing on the circuit. We also address the god awful loonie toss game. Is it just tradition? Is it just an Albertan thing? Why does it exist!? Is she for it or against it?! Not only is Rosie a great dancer, she’s also a competitive pole dancer as well! We speak about the difference between strippers and pole dancers and why there is always such a divide between the two. Originally of burlesque origins, she branched off into other interdisciplinary forms of movement and dance including FIlipino arnis, Jamaican dance hall and wrestling! Yes, wrestling - who knew!? Through dance, she was able to become reacquainted with her Filipino heritage - something that was lost years ago over a broken friendship and was able to find herself and to mend a broken heart post-break up. She speaks about her experience at the Burlesque Hall of Fame with Screaming Chickens back in the day and touches on great resources for strippers in terms of podcasts (this isn't the only one out there!), stripper courses and one-on-ones.  IG: @pocketphoenixcanada Don't forget to like, rate, review and subscribe! @strippedbysia @siasteph

#21 - Eating Disorders, Self-Help DVDs, and Changing Attitudes Towards Sex Workers w/ Keira Kova
Don't be fooled by her young looks, Keira Kova has a wealth of life experience and at 30, she's just began her foray into the world of stripping! Her attitude going into it was far from accepting, however. After battling anorexia, separating from her husband and joining pole dancing classes, her opinion has wildly changed. Combatting depression, she was able to take control of her body and has surrounded herself with likeminded strippers. Her story surprisingly isn't uncommon. Often times, we, too, have had a negative connotation and outlook on strippers and sex work...but why? We ask that question and many more on this episode of the pod. Having experience with camming, porn and the kink world, Demi had a ton of informative tea to spill. It's been a while since we've had a male voice on the podcast so I've invited Richard Meen of Butlers in the Buff to come on the show today to speak about his experience as naked butler! I don't discriminate on any type of stripping or service so I wanted to hear his take on this very accessible, very vanilla and very entry level of male stripping. We not only speak about the crazy parties he's done but also about the double standard that male strippers vs. female strippers face, how being a Butler in the Buff has helped him break down barriers and learning to be vulnerable. We tackle reasons why strip clubs are becoming extinct from accessibility to porn online, emerging technologies and a good handful of NIMBYism.
