#131 - Power Dynamics and Authority Transfer within Sex Work and BDSM w/ Dr. Lori Beth Bisbey
We’re nearing the end of Season 4 but I’ve still got some killer guests to bring on over the next couple of weeks!!! I am thrilled to bring this week’s guest onto the show. You may have recognized her from Open House: The Great Sex Experiment on TV, calling in all the way from the UK, Dr. Lori Beth Bisbey joins me this week on the show. An esteemed psychologist, GSRD (gender, sex, relationship, diversity) therapist, and polyamorous leatherwoman, Dr. Bisbey brings on a wealth of information and resources to the show. As a trained and knowledgeable professional in the field, Dr. Bisbey and I discuss authority transfer (and why it’s no longer called power play anymore), power dynamics within relationships, clients and sex work, and the importance of being trauma-informed. It’s a super packed episode that I’m sad we could only record for an hour but it’s guaranteed you’ll be walking away with some major takeaways. Branching out into sex work for the first time? Or are you a long-time veteran who's been in the biz for a minute and need a little inspiration? Whoever you may be, you might want to take a listen this week's episode with Carly David of We Are PS Group and one of her consultants and adult creator and performer, Siri Dahl. We Are PS Group is a sex worker run creative marketing agency who is spearheaded by founder, Carly David. Carly and her talented team of consultants (including myself!) help sex workers better market themselves and assist in defining their brand. Carly recruits her team of consults that are experts in their own corner of sex work, specializing in things like camming, porn, OnlyFans, exotic dance, and Reddit, just to name a few. Also joining us on the show is Siri Dahl, an award-winning adult performer, who is on the We Are PS Group team with branding and strategy who shares some of her insight on the inquiry and onboarding process.  Watch the video exclusive only on Patreon: https://patreon.com/strippedbysia https://wearepsgroup.com twitter.com/wearepsgroup instagram.com/wearepsgroup https://siridahl.com twitter.com/thesiridahl instagram.com/thesiridahl Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE on all podcast platforms! https://twitter.com/strippedbysia patreon.com/strippedbysia instagram.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com

#129 - A Star is Born: Overcoming Adversity in the Adult Industry, Achieving Veteran Status and Planning for the Future w/ Cindy Starfall
Really excited to finally release this episode with the oh-so-talented pornstar, Cindy Starfall! Cindy is a lauded pornstar who has been in the industry for 10 years - virtually unheard of in the adult industry! Cindy was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, and her humble beginnings in porn stem from webcamming. She was later scouted by a recruiter from Hustler and the rest is history! But it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for her. Although more widely accepted in North America, in Vietnam, sex work and sex workers aren't viewed as legitimized careers and her parents were viciously upset when they found out her involvement in the industry - a story you don't want to miss. Cindy also opens up to us about how she has been so successful over the years in preserving her brand, securing longtime fans across the world who have followed her and remained loyal over the last decade. She shares her secrets of success and also looks to her plans in the future, speaking to me exclusively on the show about her entrepreneurial endeavours and where she'd like to go when she decides to leave the industry. Overall, a super fun conversation with this bombshell! Watch the video exclusive - only on Patreon! #128 – Sex Work and Disability: Coping, Navigating and Incorporating Disability into Your Work w/ GoAskAlex
I’m still pinching myself that I scored an interview with reknowned adult performer and sex work advocate, GoAskAlex, this week! GoAskAlex is an ostomate and if you don’t know what that term is, you’ll soon learn what that is on the show. After a life-changing surgery, she had a permanent medical device placed on her body. Due to the nature of our jobs and the use of our bodies, this one was near impossible to conceal. Alex shares her story of living with a disability and how she was able to live and incorporate her disability into her own sex work. We also dive into her advocacy work for underrepresented bodies in the adult industry, the severe lack of BIPOC sex workers in porn and the current arising problems she sees within the industry. https://goaskalexonline.com twitter.com/goaskalexonline instagram.com/goaskalexonline Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW, and SUBSCRIBE! twitter.com/strippedbysia patreon.com/strippedbysia instagram.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com

#127 - The Many Sides of Human Trafficking w/ London Bridges
***TRIGGER WARNING*** Mention of sexual assault, human trafficking, sex trafficking and rape. We're dipping into some heavier content today. I speak with sex trafficking survivor, burlesque dancer, and spiritual guide, London Bridges, on today's episode. I recently heard London's story on another well-known podcast but was shocked at the lack of sensitivity training that the hosts had when they interrogated her during her interview and the blatant disregard that was comment section on their Instagram. I was maddened by how so many people invalidated London's experience, claiming that trafficking only looks a certain way. It does not. Trafficking rears its ugly head in many different forms which we go over in depth during this episode and we go over London's story on how she was groomed and tricked via spirituality which ended up with her being trafficked by an abuser. Please listen to London's story with an open mind. #126 - Staying True to Yourself, Being Authentic and Why Being Cringey Can be a Good Thing w/ Kiley Corrupt
So excited to bring this one onto the show this week for some fun, lighter material! This week, I bring to you cam model, Kiley Corrupt, who specializes in cosplay and elf content. I met Kiley when I was in Tempe, AZ for the YNOT Reunion this past April and knew I just wanted to bring her onto the show at some point. Kiley is a YNOT and XBIZ-nominated cam model on Streamate who speaks to us about her very specific content, how the adult industry has worked for her thus far, the pitfalls that we need to actively avoid and how she is on the up and up to rise to success. We speak about her humble beginnings and how that it's sometimes trial and error when you are first starting out in the biz. Kiley also shares with us some valuable insight on how she stays genuine and why that's worked for her. #125 - A Historic Win: Decriminalization of SW in Belgium w/ Quentin Deltour of Espace P
I've got to say, I was a little nervous yet super excited to record this week's episode. I had a riveting conversation with Brussels-based, Espace P, a non-profit organization which helps and protects sex workers in Belgium. I got the opportunity to speak with their public relations representative, Quentin Deltour, to learn more about the organization, the history and who Espace P helps, and how much of a resource they are for sex workers based in Belgium. Although it is a small country, Belgium became the first European country to decriminalize sex work back in March of this year. We speak about the struggles that sex workers have experienced in Belgium, what this decision may mean and what will happen moving forward for sex workers and clients. English is not Quentin's first language so please practice patience with him as he navigates throughout our conversation. #124 - Porn Debunked: Imposter Syndrome, Reality vs. Fantasy and Defining "Ethical" Porn w/ Alison Rey
Folks, I am so stoked to bring on this week's guest onto the show! If you haven't heard of Alison Rey, she is a longstanding adult performer and producer in the industry who will be giving us an insight on the porn industry. Alison shares with us her story on how she got into porn, having the choice to say no to scenes you don't want to do, challenging certain storylines in porn and how she went from performing to producing...and back to performing. She lays it all down for us this week in debunking some myths about squirting and performers using enhancements and gets real vulnerable with us in struggling with imposter syndrome, questioning what "ethical porn" really is and acknowledges just how fun filming cheesy porn is. It's a packed episode that really gives us insight on how the industry work from someone who has been both in front and behind the camera. #123 – “I Can Be Myself Again: Returning to SW After Being Trafficked w/ Maya Romero
***TRIGGER WARNING: Mention of human trafficking, sex trafficking*** It’s a heavier episode this week as I speak with Maya Romero, a fellow cam model, on her story on how she was sex trafficked. What started as a seemingly harmless encounter with her then-boyfriend, turned into a nightmare. “Have you ever heard of OnlyFans?”, said her abuser. Little did she know what she would encounter and ensue over the next six months would have a hold on her life. We speak about warning signs and red flags, grooming, manipulation, how she was able to escape and flee, and what she would tell other victims in similar situations. It’s a riveting and raw episode and it might be advisable to break this episode into chunks as it was quite triggering. #122 – Dissecting Artificial Intelligence: Being Aware of the Impact that Algorithms, Apps and Platforms May Have on You w/ Dr. Mistress Snow
I have been patiently awaiting for this episode to be released! I am really excited to pair my nerdiness on artificial intelligence and sex work on this episode with fellow dominatrix, researcher and professor, Dr. Mistress Snow, onto the show this week! Dr. Snow is an adjunct professor and researcher at NYU at the AI Now Institute and the UCLA Center for Critical Intelligence and as a sex worker, she understands the many discriminatory practices through artificial intelligence that major platforms and companies adopt to prevent sex workers from doing our jobs. Dr. Snow opens up about her current research, shares her thoughts on the recent acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk and what that might mean for sex workers, and ways that artificial intelligence works in ways that do not allow us to thrive. It is a completely fascinating conversation (atleast for me!) that absolutely affects our livelihood and how we conduct business. #121 – YNOT: Transforming an Adult Industry Platform in the 2000s and Steering it into the Future w/ Jay Kopita of YNOT
It’s not everyday that you can get a hold of one of the executives of one of the oldest adult tech platforms out there. I was lucky enough to catch up with Jay Kopita, Co-Owner and President of the adult industry platform, YNOT. I had recently attended one of Jay’s events and was so impressed by how welcoming the event was and had an overall great experience at my first ever adult-industry event. Jay had personally introduced himself to me and I knew I just had to get him on the show. His down to earthness was demonstrated during our hour-long conversation as I got to know how exactly he found himself in the adult industry, the challenges that he had buying the founder out, the struggles the adult industry faced in the 90s compared to now, and how he has navigated this huge ship of a platform! Having expanded the company to encompass numerous brands and events throughout the year, it was refreshing to learn just how many moving parts there are when running an enormous company and to hear from this executive-level perspective. #119 – A Review on the Shift in Language and Terminology Amongst the Trans Community w/ Velvet Steele
With so much emphasis on the trans community in recent times regarding gender affirming surgery and trans rights, I think it was time to have an overdue conversation with trans activist, Velvet Steele. Velvet is a longtime educator, advocate, SWer and icon in the queer community in Vancouver who I’ve been looking forward to having on the show. Velvet provides her crystal clear perspective on how language has shaped, impacted and harmed the community. Going from the past to present, we discuss problematic terms such as a sex reassignment surgery to outdated and offensive terms like “shemale” and how other buzzwords have discriminated and harmed the trans community. We speak about the importance in language and how its become more trans inclusive, shying away from terms we had once used in the past. Velvet took so much time to answer many fan questions and gives us a crash course on trans history – a fantastically educational episode that you don’t want to miss. ***TRIGGER WARNING: Binging, eating disorders.*** Really excited to finally release this episode with this week’s guest, BADKITTYYY. BADKITTYYY is an award-winning BBW, pornstar, and clip maker. Despite her many accolades, I get the opportunity to speak to BADKITTYYY about her more vulnerable side. She opens up about why she waited so long to get into sex work, body issues that she’s struggled with before, and her battle with binge eating. She brings up an important point that BBWs can also suffer from eating disorders too. #117 - Good-Bi to Bi Erasure and Invisibility: Dealing with Biphobia w/ Amber Stark
***TRIGGER WARNING: Mentioning of bi erasure, invisibility and biphobia.*** Sorry for the delay on this episode, folks! Been an extremely busy time constantly trying to play catch up and starting to feel a bit of burnout which I need to address. BUT I do have this week’s episode and it’s our very first fan-requested episode! A fan really wanted me to try and get this week’s guest, Amber Stark, on the show and I reached out to her and her manager and voila, an episode was born! It was really great getting to know Amber during our conversation and we speak about her relatively new entry into porn and the pitfalls of entering the porn industry as a student. The main bulk of the episode centers around Amber’s sexuality. Amber identifies as bi, and we discuss her sexuality, what it was like coming out to her close peers and family, and the animosity that comes with her identifying as bi. We speak about all of the bi deniers out there, where it mainly comes from, the dichotomies that are ever-present when speaking about sexuality, and how she copes with it all. #116 - Talkin' the Tok: A SWer's Guide to Navigating TikTok w/ Emily Jones
Really stoked to bring on cam model, TikToker and YouTuber extraordinaire, Emily Jones, onto the show this week! Emily started off on Cam Soda as a cam model having zero clue on what it was. Soon after, she migrated over to Chaturbate and never looked back! This episode focuses on the virality and success she’s had on TikTok and how we, as SWers, can use that platform to our benefit. As with most mainstream platforms, there are Terms and Services that we must abide by to be allowed on these sites and Emily so graciously shares with us her tips and tricks on how she manages to stay relevant, how to get on the FYP feed, and how she navigates the platform without getting banned. Emily, a seasoned streamer, also is excitingly about to launch her new enterprise, The Streaming Site, which is like Amazon, but she’s done all the heavy lifting for us and has streamlined all the best products and equipment to make your stream a success. This is such an insightful episode for myself, a millennial who has no idea how to even use TikTok like a regular person, and for anyone else who is planning to jump on the bandwagon and use it to their benefit. #112 - Virtual Assistants: Why It's Great for SWers, Sex Positive Businesses and Why You Need to Hire One w/ Dabby Longlegs of Living Deliciously Podcast
I've been dying to do an episode on virtual assistants for a while but never got the chance to connect with anyone that was a right fit for the episode...UNTIL NOW. I am extremely pleased to introduce Dabby Longlegs to the podcast this week! Dabby is a multidisciplinary artist and sex worker who, as one of many of the gigs they have, works as a virtual assistant. Having equally worked their fair share in stints in sex work as well as the vanilla world, Dabby stumbled across a TikTok on how to become a virtual assistant. And in the digital world, that's where a lot of work is going! With many sex workers turning their work online, comes with an immense new threshold of mundane work that we just can't manage...which is where virtual assistants come into play. Dabby shows us the ropes when it comes to being a virtual assistant - what tasks are generally expected, what and who they like to look after, and the services they offer. Dabby also so graciously breaks down pricing and rates that they have personally adopted and to give insight on those who are looking for an assistant (including me!). Lastly, we go into the many transferrable skills that sex workers have and why this can be an excellent line of work for those who are choosing to exit the industry. It's a fun, information-packed episode that makes for a great listen and an even better watch! #111 - Camming 101: Tips and Tricks from the Best Cam Coach in the Biz w/ Nikki Night
I am super stoked to bring on this week’s guest, Nikki Night, onto the show this week. Nikki is one of the world’s BEST cam model coaches out there. Starting off as a camgirl herself, she quickly was scouted by Playboy to work in their head office. After her short stint there and realizing that the corporate camming (who knew that was a thing!), she found herself at CAM4 in a coaching position. Having had previous administrative and educational experience in her vanilla jobs developing curriculums and programs, Nikki began to conduct group coaching sessions in addition to one-on-one coaching. Overall, Nikki has coached over 8000 cam models worldwide and continues to help new and upcoming cam models in establishing themselves, offering herself as a valuable resource and devising strategy and marketing plans for them. #110 - From Camgirl to Pornstar: Setting Yourself Up for Success w/ Leana Lovings
Okay, everyone. I'd like to introduce you to the CUTEST guest I have ever hosted on the show. I am so happy to have interviewed the cutesy Leana Lovings onto the show! Leana is a cam girl who also just recently journeyed into the world of porn - currently #65 and rising the charts on PornHub! We begin our conversation about her roots and upbringing in a religious household, being raised in a megachurch and how it lead to her hopping onto Chaturbate to explore her sexuality and sensuality. We then go into an in-depth conversation about how she's set herself up for success including what specific webcams she uses, the importance of lighting and microphones to create an intimate setting for all of her fans. She also shares an important PSA on toxic dildos (who knew about that?!) and of course, how she got into porn. We speak about her expectations before going into porn and the realities of it, how she feels about the industry and where she will continue to go from there. It's a fantastic conversation that shouldn't be missed, especially if you are thinking about going into camming or porn! #109 - Managing Your Finances: Making an Effective Life Plan for SWers with Lindsey Swanson of Stripper Financial Planning
Really excited to bring this week's guest on the show to speak about money management. Sure, we, as sex workers, have the potential to make a lot of money. But what do we do with that? Some of us have short-term goals of buying that purse or pair of shoes we've always dreamed of and some of us have long-term goals like buying our first home or a car. The thought may be daunting whether or not you're in sex work and can overwhelming which is exactly the reason why I invited our guest, Lindsey Swanson of Stripper Financial Planning. Lindsey started her firm, Stripper Financial Planning after getting fed up with the corporate world and really wanting to help people who really needed it. #108 - Exploring Tantric Touch: Encompassing Eroticism and Spirituality within the Queer Community w/ Reid McFarlane of Nude Dude Yoga
***TRIGGER WARNING: Mention of rape/sexual assault.*** I'm back from vacation and hastily editing this episode for y'all! Very excited to bring on my former uncle and movement and yoga facilitator, Reid McFarlane of Nude Dude Yoga onto the show today! As I continue my journey in learning more aspects of sex and erotic work, I speak to Reid on the parallels of tantric touch and erotic body work. We go into a brief history of what tantric massage might entail and the spirituality and connection that's required for it. We go beyond sexual pleasure and dig deeper in finding the purpose of what tantric touch is for. Reid speaks in depth regarding what happens in a typical group session, what emotions are being tugged on, what specific areas of the body hold trauma and how best to release it using human touch. We also speak about the psychology and motivation behind Reid's version of tantric touch as well. It's a fascinatingly-long conversation that I hope you all will enjoy as much as I did! #107 - The Pornstar Perspective: A Reflection on FSSW, Production and Work Life Balance w/ Caitlin Bell
Soooo thrilled to finally get this mega babe onto the show. Folks, I am ecstatic to bring on pornstar, Caitlin Bell, onto the show this week! You may have seen her in major pornography productions such as Brazzers, Reality Kings, Jules Jordan Video, WankzVR, PornPros, SexLikeReal, MYLF and Team Skeet (just to name a few!) as a rising star in the industry. Caitlin was scouted into the porn industry after years of working as a dancer and as a FSSWer. Initially hesitant, she thought "Why the hell not?" and the rest is history. Her lust for life shines so much through this interview; however, it wasn't without its pitfalls. We address safety concerns and red flags during her time as a FSSWer, the challenges that she constantly faces within the porn industry, dealing with a death of one of her former co-stars, and how she grasps for air despite her busy schedule. I am so happy to have sat down with this vivacious and talented woman and you'll have to listen to the entire episode just see see how lovely she really is! #106 - A "Pee"-R Nightmare Gone Wrong: Rebuilding Your Following After You've Lost Everything w/ Kactus Kutie
***TRIGGER WARNING: Mention of sexual assault.*** I am very hapPEE to be bringing on this week’s guest today, Kactus Kutie! This model, photographer, ecosexual, podcast host (of the Candygirl Network) and digital content creator specializes in niche fetishes, primarily within the hairy community and piss play. She is a profound nature lover that enjoys incorporating her fetishes outside in nature. Where things went wrong was when she was interviewed about selling a cup of her pee that went viral on various social media outlets. Excited about the opportunity, the journalist went too far reporting on this sensationalized story which lead to Kactus’ OnlyFans account being deleted with little to no warning. Having built her following scratch from 2017 and amassing 5000+ subscribers, she was left scrambling on trying to get her account back with no avail. Kactus shares her story on what happened, the dire consequences that simple buzzwords may have and explains on how she is dealing with the whole ordeal. #105 - When Anal Sex Scenes Get Cut: You Fall into Stand-Up Comedy w/ Kate Kennedy
Be prepared for some laughs on this episode because I am sitting down with Los Angeles-based comedian, former porn actress, content creator and podcast host, Kate Kennedy of The Kennedy Assassination, The Camgirl Chronicles Podcast and Two Girls One Mic: The Porncast. How a random job at a small porn production got Kate hired in Portland, Oregon, working behind the scenes, into her taking her first baby steps in front of the camera. Kate loved it so much that she eventually packed her bags and headed for sunny LA. There, Kate racked up many awards and nominations for her work in porn, slowly rising the ranks in the porn scene until COVID-19 shut her dreams down. Dabbling in stand-up comedy, Kate was able to share her experiences, both good and bad, as a comedy goldmine for material, gracing many of Hollywood’s oldest stand-up stages. It was such a pleasure to have Kate onto the show this week to lighten the load. #104 - Embracing Human Touch: Introducing the World of Professional Cuddling w/ Felicity Azura of Pro Cuddle Hustle Podcast
***TRIGGER WARNING: Mention of sexual assault.*** I’ve always been curious about professional cuddling. I had heard of the service years ago but never knew of anyone that offered it…until now. I’m so excited to bring on and introduce Felicity Azura of the Pro Cuddle Hustle Podcast onto the show this week! I know Felicity through Twitter and this outspoken sex worker speaks of her quick entry point into sex work. We go on about what professional cuddling entails, whether or not it can be considered as sex work and the hurdles she goes through by offering this type of body work. Felicity also goes over the different cuddling website platforms out there, how they may or may not appear to be as sex worker-friendly as they seem, and we also go over the not-so-nice things that come with this line of work. It was a fascinating conversation and a sneak peak into this very niche corner of sex work. https://www.felicityazura.com Twitter.com/FelicityAzura https://linktr.ee/procuddlehustle Don’t forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBCRIBE!!! @strippedbysia @siasteph Twitter.com/strippedbysia Patreon.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com

#103 - The Boobs, the Brains and the Business: Running a Strip Club in 2022 w/ Jade of Shakerz Show Lounge
I've given a fair bit of time dedicated to dancers in strip clubs on the show because hey, that's where I spend a lot of my time! But we also need to take a look at another angle: what is it like to run a strip club? How do you navigate operations during a pandemic? How do you keep the staff, patrons and the dancers safe? What are the challenges that we face in a time when strip clubs are closing down right, left and center? I couldn't think of a better guest to bring on than Jade, owner-operator of Shakerz Show Lounge based in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Jade speaks about her she found herself at the club - turns out it was a family affair! Starting with her grandma, she goes into the history of the club, where its roots grew and how it looks today. She talks about the struggles she's had trying to create an environment, enjoyable and employable atmosphere whilst instilling her family values in how she runs the club. We also speak about what it's like to be a woman owner in a sea of male owners and management that's littered throughout the industry. It's a jam-packed episode with Jade who is full of meaningful insight.  PS. #102 - Scam, Scamming, Scammer, Scammed w/ Alexis
***TRIGGER WARNING: Mention of rape and substance use and addiction.*** This week, I am joined by former FSSWer, Alexis, who heard my recent AMA which resonated hard with her on getting scammed that we connected shortly after and just had to do an episode together! I had originally planned to do an episode dedicated to scamming back in Season 3 which didn’t work out so I am thrilled to have Alexis on to speak about this. Scamming. We’ve all been there. Didn’t get the money upfront? Scammed. Picture didn’t match his profile? Scammed. Client left you high and dry with something other than the money promised? Scammed. It’s shitty when it happens but hopefully – just hopefully – we all learn our lessons after. But when we bring up the topic of scamming, it’s hard to ignore that sometimes, we, as SWers, scam our clients. I really think it’s important to mention the intent and motive here for context because hey, it’s our job to provide services rendered for our clients in exchange for payment but some honesty may be lacking here when it comes to questionable work ethic. And let’s not forget the unfortunate attacks that may happen from within our community. I hate to mention it but I’d be doing my own podcast a disservice if we don’t mention the whorearchy and the danger behind other SWers attempting to scam other SWers and the attempts of pimping that sometime happen in our industry. There’s shame and there’s plenty of stigma, but we’re here to have a transparent discussion about it. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the episode. As Alexis is no longer an active SWer, she would like to hear your thoughts! To respect her privacy, please kindly DM me and I would be happy to connect you with Alexis. #101 - The Gig Economy and Advocating for Strippers' Labour Rights w/ Reese Piper
I'm back, baby! Sorry for the tardiness this and last week - I am FINALLY back on Canadian soil and I am beyond excited to kick off Season 4! Again, very rarely do I ever bring back guests onto the show but you all loved Reese Piper back in Season 3 when she spoke abut autism and sex work that I had to bring her on for round 2! As a former stripper, Reese brings to the table a plethora of experience to share with us. The focal point of this episode would centre around her passion for advocating for strippers' labour rights. After experience raids in the strip clubs in the USA and witnessing so many of her peers face and succumb to exploitation tactics of owners and poor management, she got curious about the very little we may or may not know about our labour rights as independent contractors. Tired of hearing of fellow dancers get attacked, stalked and even murdered, Reese brought it upon herself to help educate her dancer colleagues and because this is such an important topic to talk about, I had have her back on the show to give us a lesson in labour rights 101. twitter.com/reese__p https://www.reesepiper.com Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#99 – Should I Stay or Should I Go? Agency Work vs. Going Indy w/ Elizabeth Weisz
I’ve been waiting SO LONG to bring this guest onto the show and having had some comments and curiosities surrounding the agency side of full service work, I think it was about time to bring our guest on. I am so excited to finally bring on Elizabeth Weisz onto the show this week. Elizabeth is a companion currently (at the time of recording) based in Ottawa, Canada who has been so generous to share her experience on working in escort agencies and how she finally came to the decision to go “indy”, or independent. Yes, we’ve heard of the horror stories of working in agencies but Elizabeth also speaks about the positives. She also shares about the “bait”-style agencies which, when she explains it, almost sounds a bit like a catfish situation for clients, and safety and security measures (are there any?) that agencies claim that they offer. She speaks about her challenging time transitioning from working in an agency and getting her foot started as an independent escort which she couldn’t have done without help from the collectives – something that I had no idea even existed! Elizabeth is simply just a wealth of knowledge, intelligent and extremely personable. #98 – The Misconceptions Behind Nude Life Art Modeling w/ Marcel Canuck
I am so thrilled to be doing my first in-person interview in a year and a half! I am absolutely ecstatic to bring on my friend and student, Marcel Canuck, onto the show this week as we go a little left field (as I always love to do!) as we speak about life art modeling. Marcel is a longtime life art model who has modeled all over North American and Europe. He brings to the show his years of experience as a model, most commonly asked questions and of course, misconceptions about what life art modeling is. If you aren’t aware, life art modelig is nude modeling. It’s an expressive art form used in visual effects schools to learn how the body moves and to better understand how to demonstrate mobility onscreen. Because of the nature of the job, Marcel is often subjected to misogynistic comments, unsolicited dick pics and assumptions that surrounds this type of art. Did you know how un-erotic this type of art is and how physical this profession is? We also discuss the shame and stigma of the naked body in the North American context, dealing with stalkers and online harassment, and how to get started as a model. @marcelc997 Don’t forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW, and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph  twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#97 - Pimped: A Story of Manipulation, Power, Control, Abuse and Sex w/ Cougar Nikki
***TRIGGER WARNING – Mention of sexual assault, substance abuse, physical abuse, pimps.*** Huge episode this week. It’s been a while since we’ve had a long-form episode on the podcast, eh? Well, this week is certainly deserving of the length as it is a fascinating and heartbreaking episode that I have had the pleasure to share. I speak with fellow full service sex worker, Cougar Nikki, this week on the podcast to tell us her story on how she was pimped as a young teenager and then trafficked across Canada by her pimps. She tells us of her backstory, how she ended up on the “tracks” of Winnipeg, Canada, the emotional and physical abuse she’s had to endure, the manipulation tactics of her pimps, the power of control, and how she was able to finally get out. Nikki’s story, which occurred in her teenage years during the 90s, is a riveting one, eye-opening, and a different landscape compared to how it is now. It’s a longer episode but well-worth the listen! Please note that a number of names and affiliations were censored in this episode due to protection and to ensure anonymity as Nikki’s former pimps are still around, to her knowledge. #96 - Human Trafficking: What It Can Really Look Like w/ Brandi Wood
***TRIGGER WARNING: Human trafficking*** This week, I sit down with full service sex worker, Brandi Wood, whom I connected with recently to touch base on the topic of human trafficking. Often times, when we think of somebody being trafficked, images of children in Southeast Asian with older men might come to mind, or perhaps images of Eastern European or Asian women may flash through your head. These are images that are fed to us through mass media. I, too, fell prey to this and I am still working on unwiring my brain to think differently because I was able to sit down with someone who was trafficked as a teen. My guest this week, Brandi Wood, was trafficked as a teenager. She was introduced to an opportunity "to make some money" by one of her family members, another victim of trafficking, and it wasn't until very recently that Brandi even realized that she was trafficked. She was made to work in a massage parlour in Buffalo, NY. Although the working conditions were described as safe, Brandi had no idea that she was being trafficked into the sex trade. Human trafficking can take form in many different ways and this is just one of them. Thank you so much, Brandi, for coming out the show and sharing your story. https://www.twitter.com/theebrandiwood https://gofund.me/d870ef71 Brandi's recommended resources: Sex Worker AID Vegas People Against Trafficking Humans NY International Institute of Buffalo Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE!!! @strippedbysia @siasteph https://www.twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#95 – Decriminalization: Is the New Zealand Model the Ideal Model to Protect Sex Workers? w/ Vixen Temple
We all dream about decriminalization (atleast here in North America and in other parts of the world)! It seems like a dream for many countries as sex workers are a widely marginalized and unprotected group by most governments. There is only one country in the world where sex work is decriminalized and that is New Zealand. I invite the ever-so-knowedgeable, Vixen Temple, a sex worker based in Aotearoa, New Zealand, onto the podcast this week to speak about the decriminalization of sex work in her country, sometimes known as the New Zealand model. We speak about how this decision came to be, the history behind it, who is affected and who the law covers and protects, mandatory condom use, if charges can be laid and be upheld and to whom and how this model could be applied in other countries. Vixen is an exceptionally-talented human being, activist, performance artist and of course, sex worker, and shares so much of her knowledge and expertise on this week’s episode. @vixentemple.666 twitter.com/vixentempleblog Burn the Patriarchy Podcast Don’t forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#94 - Privilege in Sex Work w/ Jessie Sage of the On the Whoreizon Podcast
It’s time to have a conversation about privilege within our community. What does that mean to you? What does that mean? It’s such a huge and hot topic within our industry that people either love or loathe talking about but after a brief tweet went viral, I’m here to start a discussion about it. I am joined by Jessie Sage of On the Whoreizon who I’ve had on the show before (go check out Episode 71!) to help me tackle this behemoth of a topic. We do our best in addressing our own privileges – being white, being cis, being educated, the ability to hold a civ job, being in North America – as we try to untangle what privilege can mean to so many in our community. I was so wrong with when I said that face out could be seen as a privilege and was presented with varying situations where it was out of their control and not their choice. We speak about the challenges of varying dichotomies of being face in vs. face out, contact vs. non-contact work, virtual vs. in-person work, thin vs. fat bodies, white vs. POC, heterosexual vs. LGBTQIA2S+, regionality, experience vs. inexperience. We barely even scratched the surface. An hour just isn’t long enough to fully dissect privilege but alteast we have gotten a conversation going. #93 - Facing Off Anorexia: Juggling and Uncovering the Secrecy Behind Disordered Eating and Sex Work w/ Belle Beckwith
***TRIGGER WARNING: Mention of anorexia, bulimia, body dysmorphia and self-harm.*** This podcast has been a constant learning experience for me. After a tweeting something that turned out to be a trigger for a person in our community, I opted to take the conversation with Belle Beckwith over to our DMs to further educate myself about disordered eating. After explaining her piece and how her anorexia has affected her involvement in sex work, I decided to invite her onto the show to give her the space to speak about her experience with anorexia. Having grown up in a middleclass family in San Francisco, Belle found herself working in the high-pressure cities of Los Angeles and New York City in fashion. After the pandemic completely shut down her industries, she found herself in survival mode. She turned to sex work to keep her afloat and is now celebrating 1 year of escorting. She opens up with her ongoing battle with anorexia, something that she was surrounded with since she was a child and a disease that ran through her family. We speak about disordered eating, how that affects your mentality, the emotional toll it can take, busts any myths and detrimental comments she has been affected by. We speak about body privilege in sex work and how she’s currently maintaining and coping with her eating disorder. @belle_beckwith twitter.com/belle_untamed Onlyfans.com/bellebeckwith Bellebeckwith.co Don’t forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

Hi folks! I’ve just recently come back from a much-needed vacation and have been busy catching up with work here this week. I also was invited to speak, yet again, at Florida State University in one of their Human Sexuality classes (thanks again, Alicia!). I thought this would be a great opportunity to share a little bit about myself (especially if you’re brand new here), to provide insight to these students, some of whom who have never spoken to a sex worker or don’t even know or realize what sex work entails, and to give a real-life account on our lives. I speak about the current landscape that us sex workers live in including laws that affect us, recent ongoing issues like labour rights, organizing in unions and the OnlyFans scandal and answer all of the student questions that I could within our alotted time slot. I was a great conversation to be had and although I was extremely tired (not my best speaking gig!), I feel incredibly humbled to be given this space to educate and spread the word. #92 - The War on Pornography: Fear Mongering, Sex Education and the Role of Schools and Parenting w/ Carlie McPhee
***TW: mention of sexual assault in this episode.*** We're taking a bit of a turn this week as I excitedly bring on my colleague from one of my vanilla gigs, Carlie McPhee, a sexual health educator based in Vancouver, Canada to speak to us about the so-called effects of pornography on children. We analyze the newly-released documentary, "Raised on Porn", as requested by one of you listeners (thanks @gallegosmash!). He wanted to know if this film was based on factual merit or evidentiary research or if it was sensationalism at its finest. If you've been a long-time listener of the show, you may know that us sex workers get the brunt end of stigmatization, tasteless jokes, the short end of the stick when it comes to policy and acknowledgement, and the list can go on. I bring on Carlie this week to dissect the unintentional role pornography plays in kids' lives when growing up: as a sexual education tool. We also discuss sexual health education in schools and at home and discuss where the responsibility should lie amongst our kids and youth. With porn being so accessible nowadays, where does it belong? What should we do about it? We speak about communication and how that is so key in any relationship, working, romantic or otherwise. We delve further into communication and into the niche category of sexting - best practices on how to sext, tips and tricks and scenarios that may be useful. #90 - The Black Male Experience on Escorting, Porn, Music and Journalism w/ Malcolm Lovejoy
I catch up with Malcolm Lovejoy, a fellow sex worker whom I’ve connected with on Twitter recently, to bring him onto the show to speak about a plethora of topics today in relation to sex work. Malcolm has juggled some very successful careers, both in journalism and in the music industry (you may know him as Mindbender Supreme!). Soon, he was writing pieces on activism and the injustices in the world both in his journalistic career and in his music but a lightbulb went off his brain: how can I write and preach about this stuff but not be fully immersed in it? It was at that point he made the career jump into sex work. Malcolm works and creates pornographic content and works in the Toronto area as a male service provider. We speak about each of these avenues and introduce and tackle the topics of his identity, Black masculinity, double standards and so much more. #89 - Taking the “Revenge” Out of Revenge Porn w/ Erika Smith of Take Back the Tech
***TRIGGER WARNING: Mention of rape and sexual assault in this episode.*** Such a juicy topic today and one that I have literally been DYING to report on forever. This week we discuss “revenge porn”. It’s a term that you’re likely familiar with but we actually don’t call it that anymore. Gender-based internet violence or non-consensual image distribution is the correct term that we are using to describe it nowadays and I bring on Erika Smith of Take Back the Tech, a global organization working end violence against women (especially harms that are conducted online!), reporting in from Mexico to teach us all a lesson today on what is popularly known as “revenge porn”. There are so many different types of gender based internet violence which we discuss in depth during our time together. We speak about on who it targets, how images or videos may be distributed, how it affects sex workers and what we can to get our content off and how we, as allies, can help. twitter.com/takebackthetech genderit.org feministinternet.net takebackthetech.net https://genderit.org/es/node/5232 Don’t forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

Even if you haven’t heard or listened to Adam’s podcasts, we dive deep into troubling intersectionalities that need to be discussed in sex work: misogyny, obsession, underage prostitution, stereotypes and stigmatization which all contribute to how sex work is seen in a negative light. Adam’s podcast, Angel at the Starlite Motel, tells the story of a dancer, Mandi May Jackson, and a client who was obsessed with her. After being tangled up in the murder of her former boss, strip club owner, James Mulrenin, her client, who only goes by the name of David, wrote a book dedicated to proving her innocence which Adam reads excerpts from every week with commentary. Adam, a self-described “reformed misogynist” and I discuss the problematic, and sometimes dangerous, concoction of money, obsession, drugs and sex and how it can entangle you in areas you wish you never would want to be. @avitable twitter.com/avitable The Angel at the Starlite Motel Podcast Dating Kinda Sucks Podcast Don’t forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#87 - The Art of Humiliation, Ethical Domination and Slavework w/ Miss Quail Avara
Because you all LOVE learning about dominatrices and the kink and fetish life, I just had to bring another one on this week! I am so excited to bring on Miss Quail Avara onto the show this week. She is a dominatrix hailing from Georgia, USA who I had the opportunity to connect with over a recent episode that was recorded previously. We speak about about virtual domming, busting myths about what we stereotypically know about doms, and at what point does domming cross the line. We also learn about what is expected out of a responsible dom and how it goes hand-in-hand with fetish and kink work. We also delightfully discuss how her and her “husboy” met (who I mention was her former slave!), how that relationship grew and what the past and current slave/dom dynamics work in her household. Last but not least, Quail doesn’t hold back on her hate for OnlyFans and expresses her love for AVN Stars. Amidst everything that’s been going on, it sounds like a great option if you haven’t diversified already! @cagedquail twitter.com/cagedquail stars.avn.com/cagedquail allthingsworn.com/profile/cagedquail Don’t forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW, and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#86 – Livestreaming on Twitch: Talking Influencers, Affiliate Status and Growing Your Brand w/ Chloe
So excited to bring on my friend, Chloe, who I’ve seen just SKYROCKET over the pandemic on the livestreaming platform, Twitch. We learn about her story, how she got started, and how playing videogames became her new gig. Her transformation from gamer to lifestyle streamer has been an admirable journey. Chloe, or as her fans like to call her, “Coco”, has catapulted her livestreaming career on the platform and has reached Affiliate status. So how does this all play into sex work? Well, we discuss the similarities of camming and livestreaming, the type of content she creates in her livestreams, giving into fan requests, collaborating with other creators, and dealing with problematic viewers. Fair warning – Twitch has very strict rules when it comes to nudity and sexual content and Chloe explains it all in detail so you don’t have to.  Ever thinking about getting into camwork but want an alternative? If it fits your brand, this might be the platform for you to dabble in. #85 - Can Romance Emerge from Client-Provider Relationships? w/ Drew
This week we’re taking a bit of a turn and throwing a different perspective on things. This week we talk all about relationships, specifically romantic and friendly ones that may sometimes transpire naturally in sex work. Because our work is intensely intimate, it may be a natural occurrence for certain relationships to foster: friendships, romantic, or otherwise. I speak with a client who goes by the name of Drew, to join me on the podcast this week. Drew, a client based in Vancouver, Canada, shares with us his experiences with companions. He has been seeing sex workers for a few years now whom have celebrated and partook in milestone moments in his life. Over the course of these years, Drew has dated two escorts in his past. When he retold his story to me, it’s clear that there was some manipulation and deception in these relationships. It’s interesting because some may say that yes, this is our business and not to cross lines which is totally fine with me, but to clearly lead people on? That’s not how I personally conduct my business but some people do maintain that clear boundary which begs the question: can real relationships grow from transactional ones? We dig deeper into this conversation and I invited the audience to share their opinions and believe me, it wasn’t as one-sided as you might think! #84 - A Not-so-Cryptic Take on Cryptocurrency and Cybersecurity w/ Paul Jones of Natterish.com
Whew, last week was a doozy! Back to your regular scheduled programming which was so on-point amidst all of the recent controversy with OnlyFans lately (considering I pre-recorded this episode a week before the fiasco even went down!). I speak with Paul Jones, a veteran sex worker based in London, the UK, of natterish.com and badbutlerxxx.com about protecting your online identity and safety through various fintech apps, website creation and maintenance and wading into the territory of cryptocurrency. Paul, who has built sex worker-friendly platforms and websites for decades, speaks to us about what to look out for when you are building your own personalized website for sex work, being mindful of what legislation you would fall under, how to accept payment, types of payment that is best for sex workers and more. Because there has been so much rising interest within the realm of cryptocurrency in the past few years, we also chat about that as well from a perspective of what crypto platforms (and for the sake of this episode, we speak mainly in regards to Bitcoin) are out there, what’s available for sex workers and clients to use, a brief understanding and explanation of how it works and what scams to avoid. Honestly, I’ll probably have to do a future episode breaking it down even further past this overview but Paul provided a great explanation (which I’m still wrapping my head around!) on how this may be a viable option for sex workers in protecting your money. PS. Paul is offering an amazing promotion now for sex workers in the industry that if you need a website, he will build it and you PAY NOTHING until January 2022. BONUS - RIP OnlyFans
RIP OnlyFans. It was bound to happen, sooner or later. It's just me this week for an early and emergency-style BONUS episode. If you’ve been living under a rock lately or have been disconnected over the past 48 hours, you might be surprised to hear of the new changes to OnlyFans’ Acceptable Use Policy coming into effect on October 1st, 2021. On Thursday, August 19, 2021, OnlyFans announced that they were to be banning sexually explicit content from their platform. What does this exactly entail? Who’s affected by it? What other platforms can sex workers move onto? I answer all of these questions and address all of the major concerns surrounding the platform, including the motivations behind it including pressure from big banks and payment processors, OnlyFans cleansing its “porn” reputation, its new verification process, and so much more. *Please note that I recorded this episode earlier this afternoon on Friday, August 20th and once I finished recorded, checked my email and saw that OnlyFans has, indeed, confirmed the changes in a statement. My in-real-time reaction can be listened to at the 46:00-minute mark which further confirmed my suspicious which were raised earlier in the episode. #83 - Costuming and Cosplay: Sewing Along Craftmanship, Creativity and Fetishization w/ Serena Rayne
Sooo excited about this episode! We all know how much fun it is to be on stage (or maybe you don’t do stage) or atleast how fun it is to play dress up in our respective lines of work. Whether it's dainty lingerie, something silky and sultry, or maybe it's campy, there is always an artist behind the outfit. This week, I bring on Alberta-based dancer, Serena Rayne, to speak abut her love for anime (Japanese animation), cosplay, and sewing. Because we were (and are) anime geeks, we gush about our favourite shows, what we grow up with and how it influenced us. Anime played a major role in Serena's life which led her to working at fellow princess parties and later, channeling those costumes on stage as a stripper. Serena now creates all of her costumes from scratch which is super impressive since she is completely self-taught! But can a white woman playing dress up be equally as harmful, opposite of the fantasy they are portraying? Because some costumes are dangerously close to emanating culture, traditions and bear cultural significance, we just had to speak about appropriation and the fetishization of costumes and how that may further perpetuate negative stereotypes about certain races, genders and so on. Even if you aren't an anime lover, tune in because Serena provides so much great insight on all of these topics as mentioned above! @serena_rayne_sgh Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#82 - Behind the Lens: Capturing Strippers’ Best Moments on Stage w/ Mike of The Liquid Cherry Strip
Now, I have been planning to bring this week’s guest onto the show since Season 1 but COVID-19 hit and I wasn’t sure how much longer I was going to do the show (and now look – 100+ episodes later!). With the pandemic shutting strip clubs down, I wasn’t sure if I would even be able to bring this guest on he primarily would photographer strippers on stage so it was finally time to play catch up with Mike from The Liquid Cherry Strip, a famed photographer here in the Pacific Northwest of Canada. Mike is best known for his phenomenal photography skills, notably capturing moments and subjects in places where photography is typically prohibited: the strip club. Normally, guys (and sometimes girls) will be asked to leave if they whip out their phone or a camera in the club. It’s not allowed. It’s something that isn’t permissible because, well, there are naked women on stage! Simply put, the guy with the camera is typically labeled as a creep, a perv and someone who is not welcome in a strip club setting. So how did Mike get his start with getting the opportunity to photograph strippers on stage? Well, you’ll just have to listen to the full episode and find out his fascinating story. @the_liquid_cherry_strip twitter.com/liquidstrip onlyfans.com/liquidcherry Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia Twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com

#81 - Navigating Male vs. Queer vs. "Regular" Strip Clubs as an Enby LatinX Dancer w/ Miami Lux
I was finally able to catch up with dancer, Miami Lux, who has traveled all around the USA bouncing and working from club-to-club. Currently calling Portland home (for now!), Miami opens up about their Latinx roots, how that's affected how people treat them and how they navigate their work. Miami, who identifies as enby, or non-binary, has danced in all types of clubs across the country. Because they are male-presenting, they have been able to work in both male/heterosexual and queer clubs, feeling most at home at the latter. We speak about their experiences having danced at various clubs and how to deal with customer complaints, raging bachelorette parties, consenting to physical touch, and how to manage racialized microaggressions. We also get to touch on the differences in atmosphere from coast to coast, identifying unsafe conditions and safe spaces, and so much more! @miamilux_ Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#80 - Balancing Duality: Square Work and Sex Work w/ Dr. Raven Bowen of National Ugly Mugs (NUM)
This is technically my 100th episode (including bonus and miniseries) and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than having a super amazing guest on to fit the celebration! This week I am bringing Dr. Raven Bowen, CEO of National Ugly Mugs (NUM). Based in London, UK, NUM is a by and for charity that assists and support sex workers. Prior to her position at NUM, Raven hailed from Vancouver, Canada and was also the Executive Director at PACE Society (which you may have heard on Episode #78), worked with the BCCEC, and helped form programs that help sex workers like MAP (also featured during the COVID miniseries!). Her 25+ years of research and work for the community is absolutely incredible and on today’s episode, we are focusing on her new book, Work, Money and Duality: Trading Sex as a Side Hustle. We speak about sex workers balancing square/civilian work with sex work, the reasons on why they do it, the pushback that they might receive, the rituals they perform, the secrecy, the whorearchy and so much more. Her book was such great read which offered incredible insight on our industry and I highly recommend anyone in our industry to give it a read. Raven was such exceptionally intelligent and engaging guest who clearly cares about our community and I am so, so grateful to have had the chance to connect with her on this milestone week. Lastly, thank you to everyone who has listened, downloaded, shared and reviewed this podcast. I never thought I'd get this far! I appreciate all of your support. #79 - "I Get Paid to be Beautiful and Exist": An Introduction to Financial Domination w/ Vanessa Jolie
I am VERY EXCITED to bring on this week’s guest because it’s a topic that we haven’t yet spoken about on the podcast…and that topic is findom. Findom, or financial domination, is a fetish involving a subordinate and dominant complex where money is given or gifted to a financial dominatrix. It’s a total power play which is gaining in popularity over the years and the curiosity surrounding it continues to grow. To tackle such a huge subject, I invite findomme, Vanessa Jolie, a former escort turned online content creator, to speak on the topic. Although she is only six months into findomme, she has sought out coaching and training to properly care for her finsubs and to exercise caution and risk. She speaks of her experience on getting started, attracting new subs, working with budgets to responsibly practice this kink, and speaks on the common misconceptions surrounding findom. I absolutely loved having Vanessa on the show to speak about her findom journey and her DM’s are open in case you are wondering about how to enter this world! @thevanessajolie twitter.com/vanessajolie_ reddit.com/u/vanessauncensored onlyfans.com/vanessauncensored sextpanther.com/vanessa-jolie Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#78 - Providing Critical Frontline Support to Sex Workers w/ Kit Rothschild of PACE Society
A casual Instagram encounter turned into conversation which turned into an invitation to come onto the show to speak. I invite Kit Rothschild of PACE Society to come onto the show this week to share and spread the word about PACE Society, a sex worker-led and run organization located in Vancouver, Canada. PACE Society has been supporting sex workers since 1994 and offers a plethora of services and programs to support sex workers. Back in Montreal where they are from, Kit was introduced to sex work in a super non-conventional way: by newspaper ad for one of the largest and oldest dungeons in Quebec. After a 5-year stint in the industry, they found themselves drawn to PACE Society, which enabled them to relocate to Vancouver. Kit, the Violence Prevention Coordinator, describes it as a "dream job". First starting as a Support Worker, they worked their way up to their current title working on providing occupational health and safety programs to members of their community and organization. Weekly workshops, lunches, tax services, and the sex worker relief are just a few of the many programs that Kit helped facilitate and worked on. This episode provides a glimpse of how we can support these sex worker-friendly organizations, where your donation money goes to, and even provides an insight if this is work that you may one day be interested in. https://www.pace-society.org/ https://www.twitter.com/PACEsociety Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia twitter.com/strippedbysia www.stephsia.com

BONUS - The Changing Landscape of Sex Work (Virtually LIVE from Florida State University w/ Me)
Alright, it's BONUS EPISODE TIME...featuring me. We all need a little break, don't we? Also, happy 4th of July to all my American listeners! Even more of a reason to have a bonus episode break, am I right? I had the opportunity and invitation to guest lecture again (third time's a charm - thanks Alicia!) at Florida State University in their Human Sexuality class. This lecture was a little bit different than the previous two guest lectures where I really speak about sex work on a global scale and how that is changing. We talk about my origins in sex work and how it led me to hosting this sex worker podcast for almost two years and to my advocacy. We speak about the legal repercussions and consequences that we, as sex workers, face because of the criminalized nature of work and that decriminalization is merely just step one. Having a super engaged class full of wide-eyed and curious students made this lecturing experience so much more memorable and hopeful for the students in the future. #77 - Taking Control of Your Own Pleasure (and Others): Sex Toys 101 w/ Shelley of Pleasure Bird
I can’t have a sex work podcast without dedicating an entire episode to sex toys! With that being said, I welcome Shelley from Pleasure Bird, Vancouver’s same-day sex toy delivery service. Although Shelley isn’t a sex worker herself, she is an advocate for positive sexual education, sexual wellness and positivity. She started Pleasure Bird last year amidst her own curiosity around sex toys. Although she is no expert, she has been fascinated by the world of sex toys, the joy it brings to individual people, couples and play partners, different sexualities and gender and even its technology. Over the course of the episode we go over the different types of sex toys she offers, her most popular items, and what is new and upcoming in the industry. We even speak about how gendered the marketing is for sex toys. Why is it always geared towards women? Why don’t we talk about male pleasure as well? That, and how beneficial sex toys can come in handy to sex workers. We talk sex shows, camming, the kink community, bondage and restraints, and smart technology. Of course, we only have an hour so this is a great introduction to those who want to try certain toys, equipment or tools and for the curious. #76: Peepshows: Going Beyond the Private Pleasures Booth w/ Sunshine McWane
Whatever happened to the peepshow? You know what I’m talking about. The little booth that you can peer through to see scantily-clad women dance for you. Sometimes there were even smaller venues that were connected to sex stores. Some just aired pornographic material 24/7. For a few quarters, you can pop in and get some live entertainment. But where did these venues go? I speak with former peepshow dancer, Sunshine McWane, to speak about her experience of working in numerous peepshow establishments. Sunshine has worked in peepshow venues for years until one the last standing establishments closed its doors for good back in 2019. Before that, she worked at six different venues around the USA, including both location of ever-so-popular, The Lusty Lady, originating in Seattle and then branching out to a sister location in San Francisco. She reminisces of a time when peepshows were in its heyday – employing up to 5 girls a shift on weekend evenings when the club was “stacked”. She speaks about the incomparable comradery with the other ladies in the venue that she just can’t find to this day. We go over fees and payment structure, what happens in a Private Pleasure booth, how peepshow entertainment was a precursor to camming and how technology killed this form of sex work. Sunshine continues her quest of finding these establishment around the country. Do you know of any? #75 - Introducing the Latest Bill That You've Likely Never Heard Of w/ Samantha Knoxx
After a ton of back and forth rescheduled and postponed interviews, the stars aligned and I was finally able to catch a wave with this water-loving Cancer, Samantha Knoxx. Samantha is a full-time companion based in London, Ontario, Canada who has dabbled in all types of sex work: stripping, erotic massage, sugaring, porn, and now finally finding her niche in escorting. Inbetween her busy touring schedule, Samantha also volunteers her time at SafeSpace, a support centre for sex workers. She is fully immersed in dedicating her time and work to this community so I was thrilled when we were able to gettogether and shoot the shit about current issues concerning sex workers in Canada. Samantha discusses in depth the bill that we’ve all been dreading in Canada: Bill 251: Combat Human Trafficking Act. For my American listeners, this is the Canadian equivalent of FOSTA/SESTA. We already have some archaic and unjust bills that have become law (ahem, Bill C-36) but we were both surprised that although this bill passed its first reading in February, we were only hearing news of it now. When was our community going to be called upon, addressed or consulted? Because from the sounds of it, it’s as if everyone else (in a non-sex working capacity) approved and gave the go-ahead. Keen on hearing more? #74 - A Lengthy Battle Ahead: Challenging the Laws that Criminalize Sex Work in Canada w/ Jenn Clamen of the Canadian Alliance Sex Work Law Reform
I've been really excited to release this week's episode as it hits close to home and the news is hot off the press! I was able to catch Jenn Clamen who is the National Coordinator for the Canadian Alliance Sex Work Law Reform here in Canada to discuss the launch of the Charter challenge against the prostitution laws in Canada. We speak about what this may mean for sex workers in Canada, the outcome it hopes to achieve and the amount of exhaustive work that has gone into launching this. Jenn graciously and patiently breaks down the process in what the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is in Canada, what is deemed unconstitutional and what the previous and current Canadian government has done thus far in recognizing the needs of sex workers. To give context, we go even further about how deep this goes into our history with a brief overview of the Canada v. Bedford case which took a similar route which reached the Supreme Court of Canada (the highest court of law in Canada) and what has happened (or should I say, hasn't happened) in recent years. We speak about representation, the opportunities that have been given to law and policy makers here in Canada, fellow organizations and even the prime minister's office with no avail which has frustratingly pushed them to organize and fight for their, simply put, labour rights.  It is a PACKED 1-hour conversation that I am so grateful to have had with Jenn. #73 - The Potential Collapse of the Porn Industry Under SISEA and What Autism Looks like in Sex Work w/ Reese Piper
I am feeing so lucky to have connected with former dancer and writer based in Brooklyn, NY, Reese Piper, this week to talk about two things: autism and the Stop Internet Sex Exploitation Act in the USA. Sure, these things may seem like they are unrelated but perhaps they really aren’t. There’s just as much stigma in disability as there is in sex work. But what happens when you’re in both and doubly marginalized? Reese speaks on her very unique experience as an exotic dancer beginning down under in Australia and then in New York City. We also initially connected over re recently-published article in Autostraddle and The Times on how anti-porn legislation distracts us from child sexual abuse at home. It may seem like a stretch but hear Reese out as she bases this on her own personal, lived experience with sexual assault coming in from her own family. We also dig deeper on the impact that this bill could have on sex workers and how detrimental it can be for those specifically in the porn industry. With all of the recent child porn allegations that platforms like PornHub has had to face, will this be happening on other platforms too and will sex workers be ultimately booted off all platforms? #72 - Street Walking: The Evolution of Sex Work Before the Age of the Internet w/ Miss Lady Vanessa
I am beyond ecstatic to bring on Miss Lady Vanessa who is a full-service sex worker based in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Vanessa tells us the most fascinating story of her life in sex work beginning at the ripe age of 16, being groomed by a local pimp in the big city of Vancouver and getting into sex work in the early 1990s. At the time, sex work, besides stripping amongst other things, was really limited to the streets. She was a street-level prostitute for 3 years when she got “hooked”. After her hiatus, a friend of hers introduced her as her duo partner for some in-person dominatrix sessions and she was hooked yet again – round 2! This time around, she was able to set herself up independently, specializing in the girlfriend experience and her most popular, option: NuRu. This episode we speak extensively of what exactly NuRu is and why you should try this service out immediately. It’s a super packed episode and a reminiscent look at the past in terms of what the landscape of sex work was like before sites like OnlyFans, PornHub, and Backpage existed. Take a step back in time with this episode because we’re going way back. We hope that you enjoy the ride! Miss Lady Vanessa is also looking for a brand new NuRu mattress! #71 - On the Consumption of Sex Work in the Media: Who is it For? w/ Jessie Sage of Peepshow Media
I am soooo excited to bring to you all this week, Jessie Sage of Peepshow Media! I have this thing of scrolling on Twitter when I wake up in the morning (because, you know, it's the last "safe" platform we have as sex workers) and I remember stumbling upon Jessie's page recently. I creeped all of her links and quickly found out that she is the co-host of The Peepshow Podcast, editor-in-chief of the Peepshow Magazine (which is a killer resource for sex workers) AND she founded Peepshow Media with her also sex working husband, Peej. I was delighted beyond words when she agreed to come on as a guest for my show. Hooray! Jessie and I got into chatting about a LOT of things: parenting as a sex worker, what role age may play in the type of sex work you do, NiteFlirt, our shared hatred for camming, creating content together with your partner, the gracious support from our community and writing about sex work in open society as an out sex worker. Jessie was able to share with me her recent dog piling of a situation when she was asked to write about sugar daddies for a well-known publication and opens up about how sex work is portrayed in the media. We also take note that there as just as many bad journalists out there reporting on our line of work and although you don't necessarily have to be "in" or participate in sex work to be a great reporter, it's vitally important that you understand and conduct adequate research on it to report responsibly. We speak about the anti-work that journalists of this stature do and how dangerous the repercussions can be. We also widely speak about her media company and the excellent work that she is doing by employing other sex worker writers in contributing to this space.  twitter.com/sapiotextual www.jessiesage.com www.peepshowmagazine.com twitter.com/peepshowmedia @curvaceous_sage Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW, and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph www.stephsia.com twitter.com/strippedbysia https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#70 - Battling Against Anti-Fat Bias, Fat Politics and Fatphobia within the Sex Industry w/ Evie Brookes
We're gearing up for summer here in Vancouver, Canada (okay, not quite) but this week is all about channeling that BIG. GIRL. ENERGY. I invite escort, Evie Brookes, onto the show this week to speak about her experiences sampling all different types of sex work, finding her niche in escorting, talking all about body image, the terms "BBW" and "plus-size" and reclaiming and owning the word "fat". Evie wears a number of different hats in her life including but not limited to: sex worker, actor, digital content creator, personal stylist and much, much more. In addition to this, she also proudly wears the word "fat" on her shoulders and opens up what it's like to navigate the sex industry as someone who is fat. We speak about the the topic thinprivilege, the differences between being a curvaceous BBW and being fat, and distinguishing that not all fat sex workers are disgusting and raunchy sluts. We talk about desirability amongst larger-bodied women in the industry and what is and what isn't considered sensual. Of course, we discuss all of the stigma that is present and wrapped around the topic amongst those who are considered fat. It is a juuuuuuicy episode and I guarantee y'all will be chanting "big-girl-energy, a big-girl-energy" all week after tuning in.  @big.girl.nrg www.eviebrookes.com onlyfans.com/stevielake twitter.com/evie_brookes Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph www.stephsia.com https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia twitter.com/strippedbysia

#69 - Self-Care, Therapy and Nourishing Your Mental Health w/ Alicia Armstrong of Florida State University and Counselling with Alicia
It's week 2 of Season 3 and I have been meaning to invite this week's guest onto the show for some time now. As I have guest lectured in a couple of her classes over the last year already, her invitation was long overdue. This week I am bringing on licensed therapist and counsellor, as well as adjunct professor of Human Sexuality and Florida State University, Alicia Armstrong, onto the show! With over ten years of experience working in the field, Alicia brings her seasoned expertise working with clients to this week's episode. She is well-versed in sex education, gender as a construct, victims of gendered abuse, sex work, anxiety and depression, and the list goes on. This episode is structured a little differently as there were a lot of questions that came in (we all need a little therapy in our lives, right?) in regards to disconnecting work from intimacy, constant comparisons, dealing with emotional labour and stigmatization, triggers and gaslighting, trauma and more. Honestly, this episode will probably require a second half at some point in the season to go over some of these topics in even more detail as we barely scratched the surface! Alicia also gives some sound advice on how to self-care, how to cope, and how to take care of your mental wellbeing and provides some excellent resources specific to those who partake in the sex work industry. #68 - Fintech: All the Payment Methods You Need to Know About (And Avoid) as a Sex Worker w/ Adrie Rose
Wow... well, WELCOME TO SEASON 3 EVERYONE!!! What an amazing ride this has been so far! Thank you to everyone who has listened, wrote in, asked questions, recommended and referred guests, those who have reached out, and of course, my insanely intelligent guests - I really couldn't have done this with you all. Season 2 was very politically-charged and dived deeper into my advocacy for sex workers. Season 3 will continue onto ride that wave to further educate civilians, aim to decriminalize sex work and to destigmatize the industry. Thank you. For the Season 3 opener, I invited (and surprised) longtime veteran in the sex industry, Adrie Rose. Adrie was a former escort hailing from Miami, Florida and who now resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as she is attending school. She is a sociology graduate and most of her research is focuses on financial institutions and how they respond to the decriminalization of sex work. We first dive into how she got involved with this type of research and how she ended up in it (because she really didn't want to do it before) and we begin to inspect the increasingly difficult ways marginalized people, often BIPOC, in rural communities don't have access to major financial institutions and the challenges on something so simple as starting up a bank account. We discuss the hurdles that these groups of people go through (often street level-based sex workers) and the impacts it may have on them. The conversation gets even juicier when we zoom in on the topic of fintech: technology and innovation involved in the delivery of financial services. Services such as PayPal, Venmo, and Ca$happ are services that we as sex workers are likely very familiar with as we all use them - or have stopped using them - for a good reason. These services are very particular in who can use their services and guess what, sex workers are not included in that group. We also talk briefly about the rise of cryptocurrency in sex work as well as crowdsourcing platforms and areas that are just not safe for sex workers to use anymore. It's a jam-packed episode. BONUS - Stripped by SIA: Destigmatizing the Sex Industry (Virtual Guest Lecture at Simon Fraser University)
Hi folks! Season 2 has officially ended and I will be taking a 1 week break before I debut Season 3 next week! Season 2 was filled with so many political angles, activism from around the world, and revealed the injustices that were happening right here in our community. I'm so excited to bring Season 3 to you but for now, I'll leave you with a fun bonus episode - my recording of my recent guest lecture in Dr. Tamara O'Doherty's criminology class from two weeks ago! It'll just be me speaking on this episode but I am so inspired by all of her engaged students who brought in so many excellent questions and points to the forefront. It is really encouraging to see a genuine interest in this topic that is the sex industry, which we work on. I hope I was able to provide a clear and competing perspective vs. what is taught to us since birth. I challenged these students to be critical thinkers and to deconstruct the intersecting layers present in sex work and to be future change makers. Thank you again, Dr. O Doherty, for inviting me to speak to your insightful class! If you haven't already listened to this genius of a woman, please listen to Episode 62 of the podcast. #67: Mo' Money, Mo' Problems: Financial Literacy, Taxes and Personal Finance w/ Janet
Sex workers, have you done your taxes yet? If not, then you'll want to this listen closely to this episode! I catch up with Janet who is an exotic dancer based in Toronto, Canada and a financial consultant. Having a background in accounting, she wanted to share her knowledge on personal finance and managing money and assets with her peers. To further educate herself, she enrolled herself in to receive financial certification and began to take clients on. I recently attended one of her financial literacy workshops which was catered specifically to benefit and aid sex workers. Are you curious on where to park your money? What about saving your earnings? Protecting your earnings? How do you grow your money the smart way? Janet shares a wealth of knowledge with us on this week's episode which is super timely since it is tax season! She clarifies all of your burning questions - what can we claim and write off, what job category are dancers and sex workers classified under, and the benefits of filling our taxes. We also go deep into the nitty gritty about personal finance regarding different savings accounts, TFSAs, bonds, cryptocurrency, mutual funds, segregated funds and so on. Because Janet is based in Canada, a lot of these terms are in the Canadian context which have American equivalents so keep that in mind. It's an eye-opening episode to say the least so pay attention! ALSO, this is the Season 2 finale of Stripped by SIA! Thank you for an incredibly politically-charged season. 34 episodes of quality content, exceptional guests, and thoughtful conversation. #66 - Culture Vultures, Cancel Culture... Can't We All Exist and Just Be Happy? w/ Virgil Avery of Foxy Fitness
A lot of the season has been politically-charged and an expression of anger and frustration so I thought I'd take a lighter and funner approach this week...but boy, was I wrong! I brought on Virgil Avery of Foxy Fitness and pole dancer manager for Snoop Dogg and a lot of pole dancer/stripper shows out there. Virgil used to work as a bouncer for many stripclubs in NYC and is based in NYC/NJ where he is the first Black and male pole dance studio owner in the world. I have personally trained out of his New York studio where, if you are also a pole dancer, will be familiar with some of the athletes he is pumping out of that studio. As you know, I am both a pole dancer and stripper so the first half of this episode is very pole dance (as a sport/hobby) heavy. But we get into it. The reason I brought Virgil onto the show was not only to highlight his amazing studio, but also to talk about how he is incorporating sex workers into the narrative. His studio is focused on the athletic-side; however, he is an ally and supports sex workers by employing them at his studio and booking them on tour. He is responsible for scouting out pole dancers (from the ones I know, they are all strippers, yay!) for when Snoop Dogg goes on tour and for the entertainment industry. The conversation gets heated at the 45-minute mark because as you know, there has been a surge in wokeness in bringing to light the appropriation of stripper culture, aesthetic and in movement. Perhaps it's an unpopular opinion or an exhaustive expression, but can't we all just be happy? Virgil makes some excellent points, not to ruffle feathers, but to see it from a positive, yet still inclusive, perspective. Can't we all just mutually exist and share? #65 - Consent, Vulnerability and Rape: Full Service or Fully at Risk? w/ Yana Petrova
***TRIGGER WARNING***  The episode will be discussing the topic of rape. Feel free to skip the episode or stop around the 45:00 minute mark if this is a trigger for you. It has been a minute since we've had an escort onto the show so on the Karina Riviera's recommendation (Season 1, Episode 25), I invite her duo and bestie, Yana Petrova. This full service escort is based in Vancouver, Canada and we explore how she got into the industry, mistakes she made when she first started and what eventually led to her branching off on her own. I gush over her beautifully-made website (which she designed herself!), services and current offerings and how this sets her apart from other service providers. She's a self-described slut who loves her profession, including the fun duos and sessions she's had over the past two years. We also discuss the important topics of boundaries and consent - how to communicate this with your clients, improving how you filter through clients and better your security. A topic that we haven't discussed enough on the podcast is rape. Yana shares with me her intimate story of getting raped and reveals that this is the reality for many of us sex workers. As sex workers, we get raped. Full service sex workers are unfortunately, at a higher risk due to the nature of this profession. It's an impact episode and a conversation that we, as sex workers need to have with ourselves and our protected peers. #64 - Get to Know the World's #1 Fetish: Feet Fetishes w/ Ennie and TopToes from the Oh Those Toes Podcast
I have finally found the perfect guests to help articulate the world's most popular fetish: feet fetishes! It's been a LONG time since I've talked about this (and in a much broader scope at that) and I'm so excited to welcome Ennie and TopToes from the Oh Those Toes Podcast! We are diving deep into the wild world of foot fetishes and all its subgenres. Ever heard of trampling? Crush? Vore? Giantess? We go into it ALL of it. We can also break down the foot fetish down to its roots. Where does it come from, where does it originate, the psyche behind it and the allure. We also speak about what's popular and what works. Believe it or not, it's more than just taking a few pictures of your toes or selling a sock that you wore around the house for an hour. What about the curl, the scent, the toenail colour, the instep, and the nylons? Oh yes, nylon fetish is a big one! We also don't forget how SOSTA/FESTA is looped into all of this and and how the fetishization of feet and even the sexualization of inanimate objects is enough to boot one off of major social platforms. OH, and don't you think that we forgot to discuss foot jobs and foot sex! I'm telling you - this is a toe-curlingly good, jam-packed episode that you absolutely do not want to miss. #63 - Screening, Security and Safety: Dealing with Harassment and Stalkers w/ The Hedanista
As sex workers (and as womxn in general), we have the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with an exceptional amount of harassment. Whether it's unsolicited dick pics, countless DMs in your inbox or something as simple as cat calling when you're walking down the street, we are constantly subject to this. It's never fun. But sometimes these "harmless" things can take a turn and snowball into something even scarier: further harassment and stalking where you now have to get legal and the police involved. I invite The Hedanista onto the show today to speak about her experience. We talk about her line of sex work (erotic masseuse and domination) and review some screening processes and precautions that she takes to ensure her safety in her line of work. We also talk about how important setting your boundaries area and outlining cases where boundaries have been crossed and how to recover from it. In The Hedanista's case, she became romantically-involved with one of her former client's who, after the breakup, continued to harass her via text to her personal phone, the use of in-app text messages and calls, sending her threatening messages and contacting her work. She had to get legal aid involved which helped her get out of her situation. We also discuss next steps - how to reinvent yourself, your mindset, and rebuilding your network and client base from scratch in a safe way. #62 - The Political Agenda Behind Anti-Human Trafficking Laws w/ Dr. Tamara O'Doherty of SFU's School of Criminology
I am very excited to bring on Dr. Tamara O'Doherty of Simon Fraser University's School of Criminology. SFU is my alma mater and is the #1 school in the nation (Canada) for Criminology so I was super stoked to invite Tamara onto the show to share her expertise, research and findings on the topic at-hand this week. As sex workers, we are are deeply affected by the anti-human trafficking laws the were enacted by governments around the world. We've mentioned this particular topic a countless number of times on the podcast and it continues to be brought up due to its negative impact on sex workers. In Canada, Tamara and I speak about Bill-36 which was enacted in 2014 by Stephen Harper and the Conservative government, dissecting on how confusing the verbatim and title were as well as the political agenda behind it. On a parallel note, we discuss the USA's SOSTA/FESTA which was enacted in 2016 by the Trump administration (and even earlier by the Bush administration) and the cuts it has made on the sex industry. In addition to this, we speak briefly about the Nordic model or "asymmetrical criminalization" of sex work and what that means for sex workers.  As a former graduate of SFU's School of Criminology, I value Tamara's expert opinion, research and advocacy on the topic. #61 - A Gendered Approach to Sex Work, Third Party Management and Legal Proceedings w/ Dr. Tuulia Law, Jennifer and Janie from Work Safe Twerk Safe
We've got a few bodies onto the show today! I am super excited to invite Dr. Tuulia Law, Jennifer* and Janice* from Work Safe Twerk Safe onto the show today! It's a 50/50 split in today's episode where I spend the first half of the episode speaking with Dr. Law from the Criminology department of York University discussing her extensive work and research in sex work. I ask her why this research is so sorely needed and why she decided to take the academia route. We then dive deeper into her specific work involving third parties and management within indoor forms of sex work and the challenges she has seen, the findings that have been drawn to her work and where we see her research taking her.  The second half of the episode is spent not only with Dr. Law but also her co-founder, Jennifer, and colleague, Janice, from Work Safe Twerk Safe, a stripper-led organization based in Ontario, Canada that provides access to legal aid, resources, and workshops for sex workers in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). We discuss the excellent work that they are doing, how and why they decided to organize and everything that they currently offer. We also discuss their current ongoing legal case against the Government of Toronto (hint: THEY WON THEIR CASE LAST WEEK!) and the aid that they are seeking for their causes. I loved discussing everything that they are doing to help sex workers and it is 100% worth a listen! #60 - The Ultimate Guide to Selling Your Used Panties w/ Dalma Rosa of the Panty Selling Podcast
Oooooh, this is a good one. And I'm ashamed to admit I haven't done an episode on this subject but here goes! This week's episode is all about selling your used panties. Has this thought ever come across your mind? Maybe it piqued your interest while watching the last couple seasons of Orange is the New Black? Perhaps you may have considered it. Even if you haven't, you'll still want to listen in to this episode as I have got the ultimate guest on this week to share the ins and outs of this business: Dalma Rosa of the Panty Selling Podcast! Dalma has been in the panty selling game for the past two years and has been so gracious to share her mistakes, tips, and overall expertise on the world of used panties. No, selling used panties is not just a stereotypical thing that Japanese men are into (nor do we even discuss the on the pod!) but it is a viable source of income and is an industry that is thriving. Dalma and I discuss the marketing around buying and selling, the logistics when it comes to shipping your used goods out (and best practices on how to preserve the scent!), safety and security surrounding your pictures and videos, the types of underwear are the most popular, where her clients are located, and so much more. That, and we'll be discussing Dalma's other ventures that she has started since this whole thing unexpectedly blew up for her. Tune in and maybe we'll be seeing you on one of the many used ware sites on the web! Just keeping the momentum going here with super strong, incredible and knowledgeable guests in the sex worker space making a difference and making waves. I invited AMD of the Yes, A Stripper Podcast to come onto the show to speak intimately about her experiences stripping in LA, the realization of her white privilege, the gentrification of strip clubs in LA, social media monitoring censorship, amputation and more. I get up close and personal with AM as she lets us into her world. This serial entrepreneur opens up about her various ventures in both sex worker advocacy (Soldiers of Pole) and the pole dancing world (United Pole Artists and Everybody Visible) and the divide that has been going on FOREVER and what her thoughts on it in this current environment. No conversation in regards to the policing of sex work is complete without a mention of FOSTA/SESTA and we briefly touch on that topic in regards to the censorship that's happening in our space. #58 - Fight or Flight: Movement as Therapy w/ Nicky Ninedoors
Get your seatbelts on. I've been trying to get this week's guest on the show since Season 1 and she's finally here. Please welcome Nicky Ninedoors on the show! Nicky is an all-around artist. She is a well-known burlesque dancer, stripper, pilates and pole dancing instructor, healer, singer, pianist and so, so much more. She was able to let us in to her private life and lead us down on how she got started in the biz. From her roots in burlesque to overcoming her whorephobia to start stripping four years later and now, dancing virtually online at the Cellar Door Strip Club, she has been on a wild ride! The bulk of this episode also has a lot to with past sexual trauma and how she is choosing to cope with that: through physical movement. Nicky discovered that staying static hurt her body and that by continually moving, the pain hurt less. She gives us a psychological breakdown of what our bodies go into in fight or flight moments, how much cortisol we need, and even to further explain mere glances our parents did or did not give us growing up. It is a fascinating lesson and I'm so glad she was able to share her wealth of knowledge with us this week. We also briefly speak about her Stripper with a Camera venture, battling censorship and SOSTA/FESTA and more. It's a long episode but trust me, you'll want to listen to in its entirety. #57 - To Hell with the "Bad Mom" Stereotype: Motherhood and Sex Work w/ Lil Kat
We've all heard the negative stereotypes when it comes to sex work, but it gets worse when you or if you decide to bear a child. Calgary-based stripper, Lil Kat, joins me on the show this week to speak about the additional struggles of being a mom AND being a sex worker. The mislabeling of sex worker moms is a tired double standard which continues to happen to this day. We discuss Sigmund Freud's Madonna/whore complex which is still perpetuated to all moms today, regardless of their occupation; however, it hits harder when it comes to sex workers. Lil Kat opens up about the challenges she currently faces as a dancer which come from outsiders looking in, friends and family and even her partner. But it's not all negative - we also discuss the pros of being a sex worker during pregnancy, working conditions in corporate jobs vs. the sex industry, and the perks of creating content on your own time on various platforms (Lil Kat uses Premium Snapchat, OnlyFans, and her own direct site). #56 - An Erotic Masseuse's Happy Ending: Adult Spas, Exit Plans and Branding w/ Lexie Caldera
It may have taken me 56 episodes + 18 bonus episodes BUT I've finally sourced an erotic masseuse fit for the show!  Thanks to a fellow listener and fan (thanks Dan!), I bring Canadian erotic masseuse, Lexie Caldera, onto the show to speak about her experience working in adult spas. What actually goes on behind closed doors? How do you give a happy ending? Are extras include? How does the whole thing work!? Lexie explains it ALL to us in major detail so you'll want to be listening closely. She also invites us in deeper into her personal life about she how she started sex work as a teen advertising on Craigslist, how she navigated through coming out to her conservative family, hitchhiking and train hopping all throughout Canada and more. I could have literally talked to her forever about this stuff (so interesting!) but Lexie also gives us the down low on how to effectively brand yourself as a sex worker and how freakin' important it is to save money, plan for the future and create an exit plan, and not just blow it all away in one go. It's a super insightful episode and I'm ashamed that it took me so damn long to find a suitable guest for this topic but I assure you that it is well worth the wait! @lexie.caldera www.lexiecaldera.ca twitter.com/lexiecalderaxo facebook.com/lexiecalderaxo Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph www.stephsia.com twitter.com/strippedbysia https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia

#55 - Lies, Threats and Dishonesty: Agency Corruption in Strip Clubs w/ Onyx Sachi
It's been a long time coming but due to many listener requests, I have finally got my hands on getting the legendary Onyx Sachi on the show this week! I am so incredibly excited to have this 2x Miss Nude Westcoast, award-winning choreographer, instructor and stripper to speak about her experiences on the pod. If you have or haven't been following on Instagram, this 15-year veteran dancer was fired for speaking up about the mysterious and unfair cuts she spotted on her paycheques. She pointed this out on her story and soon enough, she was let go from the agency. We discuss how she has been dealing with being let go, pivoting the type of work she's been doing and the doors this experience has opened for her. We also talk about the differences between independent contracting vs. employee status and how that affects strippers on the west coast of Canada. I try and pry as much as I can on her ongoing legal case against the club, civil action that you can take if you're a dancer if this has happened to you, the ongoing petition and her upcoming book deal. They are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to BDSM and kink positivity and which they happily shed light on. A bulk of the episode goes into speaking about their Indigenous ancestry and what that means for them. Identifying in one of the most marginalized minority groups, I ask Lynx on their experiences of being of mixed ancestry. We learn a bit about Indigenous history in Canada (also applicable to the USA) and how this painful colonization has played in their Indigeneity, sexuality, and performanceship. We also go into their dancing with the Indigenous burlesque troupe, Virago Nation, their stances on responsible dominance in the kink community and how Aladdin played a part in their sexual awakening as a kid. All this and more on this week's episode - tune in! @aylaylay_ Burlesque West: Showgirls, Sex, and Sin in Post-War Vancouver by Becki L. BONUS - Sex Work and Resiliency in North America w/ Me (Virtually LIVE from Florida State University)
Welcome back, everyone and happy 2021!!! I hope you've all had a restful and enjoyable holiday! I'm taking a little break this week so enjoy this bonus episode featuring...me, Steph Sia aka Kim Chi, guest lecturing at Florida State University this past November! I speak about my podcast, how I got started in sex work, pole dancing and my thoughts on it as a sport, differences and parallels between government legislation surrounding sex work globally, and more. A big thank you, once again, to Alicia for inviting me to speak to your Human Sexuality class. I am ecstatic and honoured to have been asked to return to speak to your bright class of future therapists, counsellors and sex educators.  Don't forget to LIKE, RATE, SHARE, REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE! @strippedbysia @siasteph www.stephsia.com twitter.com/strippedbysia https://www.patreon.com/Strippedbysia
