Information Literacy For Generative AI

Information Literacy For Generative AI

AI information literacy encompasses the skills and competencies required to effectively engage with AI-generated content. This content includes not only text but also images, audio, and videos produced by AI models like GPT-3, DALL-E, and deepfake generators. AI information literacy goes beyond traditional information literacy, addressing the unique challenges presented by AI, such as recognizing manipulated media, understanding the ethical implications of AI-generated content, and distinguishing between human and AI-authored text.

As AI continues to shape industries, media, and communication, individuals and organizations must adapt to this new reality. AI information literacy empowers individuals to critically assess the credibility and reliability of AI-generated information, while also raising awareness about the ethical considerations surrounding AI technology. It is essential for educators, policymakers, and society as a whole to foster AI information literacy to mitigate the risks of misinformation, promote responsible AI use, and harness the benefits of this transformative technology.

Problem and Project Based Learning

Problem and Project Based Learning

Problem and project-based learning is a student-centered pedagogy in which students learn about a subject by experiment and encourages students to learn and apply knowledge and skills through an engaging experience and active exploration of real-world problems. The PBL process does not focus on problem-solving with a defined solution, but it allows for the development of other desirable skills and attributes. This topic is important in teaching and learning because it promotes active learning, and deeper understanding and enhances the problem-solving skills of the students. Also, there is a lack of implementation of this method in the k-12 setting of our contexts. In this podcast, we discuss PBL pedagogy in the classroom, its benefits and challenges, and how it differs from traditional methodologies. through an interview with AUW's associate professor Sayed Md. Nazimuddin, who discusses his real experience with project-based learning in the classroom and the results. Furthermore, some recommended strategies for its implementation in the teaching process are available for educators.

The Necessity of Building Intergroup Empathy and Inclusive Learning in Secondary Schools

The Necessity of Building Intergroup Empathy and Inclusive Learning in Secondary Schools

Empathy ensures that in an inclusive learning environment all students are equally prioritized and teachers work individually to eliminate students’ learning challenges and enable them to participate in the mainstream of education. Teaching students (disabled and non-disabled) being empathetic is essential for ensuring that learning takes place in a positive environment. To make sure that every student is empowered, teachers in the classrooms must teach students how to create empathic behavior. In the context of education, it is common to signify the importance of teachers showing empathy for their students to foster a collaborative learning environment Even though teachers’ empathy encourages students to develop empathy, students must learn how to do so in the classroom, for example, by not bullying one another but rather working together to learn a difficult topic. So, by fostering an understanding relationship among students and between teacher and students, practicing empathy can enhance students’ learning. Even though building empathy in students has become essential for inclusive learning, our current curricula from developing countries have not yet been modified in this way. If this crucial element is not taken into account while developing the curriculum, a large group of students will be excluded from the mainstream educational system solely based on their disability. To encourage students’ learning in the mainstream educational system without jeopardizing their aspirations, this chapter emphasizes the development of empathy among secondary school students. It also outlines how to construct three-dimensional relationships between teachers, parents, and students to foster empathy in the classroom and help all students develop leadership qualities in a supportive setting.

Welcome to Strong Schools!

Welcome to Strong Schools!

Welcome to Strong Schools! This podcast is a student course production. The inaugural cohort of the Master of Education program at the Asian University for Women (AUW for short), is using this channel to experiment with audio production and learning through podcasting. The podcast accompanies the textbook 'Strong Schools' that the students are writing collaboratively. My name is Stefanie Panke, and I am the instructor for the course. Once a week, I get very early to meet my students on Zoom. The AUW campus is located in Chittagong, Bangladesh. I live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. You'll notice from my accent that I am native German. I moved to the US 10 years ago, and have been in educational technology for over 20 years. This teaser is recorded in my backyard. Clearly, we are no audio perfectionists. But if you are looking for ideas on how to improve schools in underserved areas, I hope you will listen with interest.
