Activity Time with SLE @ the University of San Francisco

For our last episode of Season 2 we decided to bring two graduating seniors to describe what it is like to complete their college journey. They discussed their future plans with us and the lasting impression the University of San Francisco left on them. We are very proud of our seniors and we wish them the best of luck. This year was unlike any other - especially for our first year students at USF. We invited two first year students to tell us more about what it was like to experience the first year of college all through zoom. They also gave us a glimpse into what it was like to virtually build relationships with each other. With fall coming around the corner, we learn more about what they are looking forward to and their full reflection on this past year. Tune into this podcast for the whole story.

Well, for today's podcast we will be talking about our personal experience with money and hopefully give you a better understanding of what others are doing to manage their money! We also bring up research and articles that helped bring in different perspectives so that you can have a better understanding of what others are suggesting we should do as college students. In this week's episode we had the opportunity to talk to the USF Recreational Sports Department (also known as Koret Health and Recreation Center) and discussed what reopening could look like for this upcoming semester. We also got together to discuss the amazing virtual events and challenges that are currently happening and job positions that will be available soon for those that would like to be more involved with the USF recreation center. Please join in as we talk about what the team has been working on in order to bring the safest and most engaging experience for you all. Also fun fact: USF pool is the largest in-door pool in the city of San Francisco!!

In today’s podcast, we have Yuan Zhou and Torry Brouillard- Bruce representing the housing department SHaRE! We discuss their positions, the plans they have for reopening and what we can expect for next semester. We also discussed the racist incident that happened in Loyola Village. We wanted to understand how SHaRE is dealing with this anti-black incident and the actions they are taking to protect our community and those affected by this incident. We hope that this conversation is able to give the USF community a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes at SHaRE and provide us with a better understanding about how living on-campus will operate!

Yes, the title is exactly what we are doing in today's podcast! Remember that one admissions scandal in 2019? It was one of the biggest scams that involved document fabrication, money laundering, bribery, and lots of photoshop to get wealthy students unfairly admitted into the most prestigious universities in America. The Netflix documentary, Operation Varsity Blues, made a reenactment of the admissions scam using real conversations recreated from FBI wiretaps to expose the whole thing. We wanted to learn more about this scandal through the lens of those that are currently in the college admissions field so we decided to bring in two admission counselors that work for USF. Terrell Clarke and Justin Nkemere join us in today's podcast to discuss what they believed was accurate and what was not and whether they saw any similarities or differences in the work that they do. Hello Dons, welcome to an episode where we have a chat with the founder of One Less Thing Rebecca Hammett! In this episode we discuss why she created a platform that connects USF students with families in San Francisco that are willing to pay for an extra set of helping hands! USF students in the past have helped out with Social Media, Event Planning, and much more! This website platform truly exposes valuable skills that we all have and connects us with others that would like our help. Today we have Hawaiian Ensemble as our special organization of the week! Hawaiian Ensemble has dedicated their time to promote Hawaiian cultural traditions through songs, dances, and language. Hawaiian Ensemble has been around for almost a decade and their top priority has always been to spread a message of community and share a deeper and richer understanding of Hawaiian culture to all. We took the quiz to better understand our primary love language and we discuss what our results mean to us. In this episode, we had the opportunity to interview Galina Lang! She is a senior at USF and CEO of BobaMate! Through BobaMate she has made it her mission to eliminate single plastic use through her reusable boba cup design. Today, we had the opportunity to have her on and tell us about her experience being an entrepreneur and the steps she took to launch her business. She had a successful kickstarter campaign and is now taking pre-orders for the cup that will help us enjoy boba drinks guilt free. Welcome to today's episode! Today, we have two incredible nursing students joining us to tell us more about an organization that means a lot to them: MSNS. MSNS is the Mens Student Nursing Society at USF. The organization is open to anyone who is passionate about developing community,  leadership, and professionalism. The organization also serves as an opportunity to educate and celebrate the nuanced experiences of all nurses.

If you are interested in what it's like to run a non-profit, following your passions, and serving the community then this episode is for you! 

With more than 2.4M likes on TikTok and a passion for makeup, we have Makeup By Olivia joining us for todays talk to spill all the details of what it is like to be a part of the beauty community. In this episode we talk about her journey to becoming one of the most inspirational makeup artist in the digital world.  Her amazing energy and presence has brought her passion for makeup to life in this episode and we invite you all to grab a cup of tea and tune into her amazing story! 

For this episode we brought in 2 USF athletes to tell us how they are handling the pandemic. We want to understand how the pandemic has affected athletes and what measures are being taken for them to continue their athletic journey.  If you ever wondered what the life of other students are looking like during this pandemic, then this is the episode for you! 

In today's episode, we are diving deeper into what professors are going through during these times and how they are positioning themselves to create the best learning experience for us all. We decided to also bring the Marketing Club in order to better understand what they do and what marketing will look like in the future. We know that community is important more than ever and we hope that you are able to find one within the clubs that we bring on. Tune in for all of this and more! 

Entrepreneurship and influencers are some of the most sought after positions to be in, in the current day. As a San Francisco based school, we are no stranger to these types of people and can learn quite a bit from them.
