Through an illustrated story following a gender ambiguous looking African character that lands in London from home and then discovers a new, freer version of herself through modern dating, Finding Oneself explores Ngadi’s experiences as a queer, feminist immigrant living in the UK.

Studio 3 Arts In Conversation with Mia Mai
Liza Vallance talks to artist Mia Mai about her Windows In Commission, We Belong Here, Together. Mia Mai is an emerging artist and practitioner working primarily with fibre. Since graduating from Chelsea College of Arts (UAL) in 2019 with a BA Honours in Textile Design, specialising in weaving, she has since gone on to develop her practice at Goldsmiths University of London where she is currently completing a master’s degree in Design Expanded Practice.

Liza Vallance talks to artist Walid Siti about his Windows In Commission, The Interweaving Flow. During the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown we all witnessed a feeling of oneness, reminding us that we belong to the same world and its humanity while facing this troubled time that effected us all regardless of borders. Connecting two window sides of the exhibition space, The Interweaving Flow conveys ideas of connectedness, freedom of movement, and mobility through a weaved installation featuring joined human figures that span the two sides of the space.

Philip Ewe is a Performance Artist living and working in London. His practice explores gentrification and its attendant mental states. Motivated by the inequalities of the property market and coming from a proud LGBTQ+ history of subverting urban space, Philip draws attention to the housing crisis and how we attempt to build our identities through an absurd one-man language of buffoonery.
Philip’s exhibition & live-streamed performance will include a scale sculpture of the Ripple Road Fish & Chip Shop, that his family ran in Barking from the 1950s to the 2000s.
