From Black Planet, Myspace, facebook, Model Mayhem, tumblr, instagram, tiktok, snapchat, and more, the daily use of social platforms has stopped being shaped by the user and is now shaping the person in front of the screen.

Some legislators are looking to change that. With laws coming out of Florida, Texas, and other states, alongside of immense pressures from parents, medical professionals, and social activist groups, the landscape of social media may be seeing a purge and the lenience of some laws.

Today, we are going to talk about both of them.

The Business of The Pivot: Jennifer King

The Business of The Pivot: Jennifer King

Jennifer King is a firm believer that your network is your net worth. Jennifer recognized a void in the small Black business industry...networking. There were small groups that may speak with each other, but how often were you able to go to an event, get advice, network, and potentially do business...without having to travel to a mega event that would potentially overshadow you? Jennifer has created an intimate environment that does just that.

Her "Ready, Set, Grow!" platform places a panel of 5-6 business leaders of the area on a stage to talk about their expertise. For the attendees in the audience, this information gives a blueprint on how to structure some business principles and even to help current businesses add a little spice to the pot... or as we have been saying since COVID, Create A Pivot.

We sat with our friend, Jennifer after her most recent event in Atlanta, Georgia to discuss her journey and get some details on how she herself had to Pivot after a span of time not being able to host the event. Next up, Mobile, Alabama in November. For more information, tickets, and updates, follow Jennifer's Instagram page @icmeevents

Kevin Ross talks about Looking for Love and more...

Kevin Ross talks about Looking for Love and more...

R&B Singer Kevin Ross has been taking the industry by storm. His voice has more soul and maturity than many in his genre. With his recent project DRIVE 2 spinning all over radio stations and streaming platforms, he is further cementing his place in R&B Soul Music.

Kevin made a major move before putting out this project. He decided to take the independent route with his career. While we know from other artists who have done this, it's not easy by far, but the risk can ultimately reap a huge reward. Kevin is not only able to control the music he puts out, but he can control what he talks about. That may be more important than having the money and voting power from a label.

EXCLUSIVE!!! MAGAZINE INTERVIEW with YUNG JOC and KENDRA ROBINSON

Yung Joc and Kendra Robinson have been at the head of scrutiny and the tail end of grace when it comes to the most recent season of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta. Battling with drama from within and outside of their family/friendship circle, the couple has stood strong in the face of opposition.

Understanding that no relationship is perfect, the couple continues to fight for their marriage even when heated moments are between them. Their resilience and love for each other are what they will need to push them to the finish line. After spending a few hours with them, I think that is more than possible. The question remains...do they? Can they? And ultimately will they?

There are only two people who can answer that question and we sat down to ask them a few hard questions and a few easy ones.

J . Bernard Calloway: I Am My Own Man.

J . Bernard Calloway: I Am My Own Man.

J. Bernard Calloway started his acting career by doing a favor for a friend. That favor would lead him in a direction away from the sports that he loved to play and onto a stage where the ridicule could be harsh, dreams could be deferred, and the "glass ceiling" for black males was reinforced with concrete. However, as the greats have said...if you work hard and stay humble, you will always be successful.

Currently, J. Bernard Calloway co-star's as "Terry Carson"  on one of the most popular shows on cable television, The Ms. Pat Show on BET+, he's making a return to broadway, and his face is popping up on television appearances repeatedly. Needless to say, that hard work and hambled mentality are doing very well for him.

Being a huge fan of The Ms. Pat Show and growing an affinity for "Terry Carson" (the character that J. Bernard portrays), I was excited to speak to television's newest Black father, discuss the messaging, understand the reasoning, and give flowers to the man that is giving other Black fathers a helping hand on dealing with marriage, issues, and parenting.
