Watch your step
In this episode Tam, Anthony, Tracy and Tara explore the way that context effects our language.
Watch yourself!
In this episode we explore how professionals can expect to be recorded in their interactions with the public and how that effects good practice.
Watch Your Language
The first in a three episode series where we explore the language we use as professionals and how to appropriately apply our differing skillsets in the environments we work in.
A Predator in the Home
Trigger Warning - In this episode we discuss sexual abuse of a child.
Anthony reflects on how the system we work within has changed since the 80's when he had a case of an abuser who had been sexually abusing a child in their home. The abuser was sent to prison and then returned to the home without proper interventions or assessments.
Self Neglect and Hoarding plus advice for professionals
Trigger warning: In this episode we discuss Self Neglect and Hoarding.
Anthony reflects on a historic case involving hoarding and we discuss how we now recognise this as an issue with roots in mental health or trauma as opposed to just an untidy home and I take the opportunity to ask Anthony for some advice that other professionals in front line work might find helpful.
Safe Sleep
Trigger warning: In this episode we discuss SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) , Drugs and Alcohol.
Join us for a chat about SIDS. In this episode I wanted to share all the information I remember being given in order to keep my first baby safe and well. I am lucky enough to be joined by Jackie who is an expert on the subject and a mum herself so this is the most well informed mum chat you will hear on SIDS. I remember learning a lot from talks like this with other friends who were pregnant and it occurs to me that not everyone has that. Listen to this with your parents or grandparents to get everyone on board with the Safe Sleep guidance ready for your when your baby arrives.
