At just 11 years old, he was witness to his father's brutal murder of his mother. He didn't see what happened, but instead heard the blunt-force beating. His father, a prominent Ohio doctor, told young Collier his mom ran away from home. Not even a teenager yet, Collier know it was not true, tipping off police.
Years later, he created “A Murder in Mansfield”, the documentary about Ohio's "trial of the century" from two-time Oscar-winning director, Barbara Kopple.

...Tommy Russo holds nothing back when telling stories about his nearly 20-year career as an NYPD police officer. Tommy rose through the ranks to become the youngest captain in the department's storied history. He accomplished all this despite growing up with a dad in prison and learning about life the hard way on the mean streets of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn home.
