Sustainable workplace: how to make Employee Resource Groups part of your Company Culture

Sustainable workplace: how to make Employee Resource Groups part of your Company Culture

Some ideas!  -

Explain which ERG groups you have in your business

- Create new ones and let those that are not relevant anymore go

- Link the groups and discussions to your values

- Find your champions and ambassadors

- Get a clear budget  and give the freedom to use it as the employees consider

- Bring in data and calculate the impact of the work and results from the ERG's

Sustainable Workplace: make your company culture come to life

Sustainable Workplace: make your company culture come to life

Takeaways from my experience:

  • Partner with marketing and create a local team to support the project
  • If the budget enabled you, partner with an external agency with experience in the sector
  • Do a lot of research and capture it in a sharing doc
  • Draft questions and structure of the video
  • Organise calls to get everyone on board, offer one-to-one to coach employee
  • Stick to the plan and count on delays and possible roadblocks
  • Say thank you
  • Create a campaign to share

Sustainable Workplace: normalising Mental Health conversations

Sustainable Workplace: normalising Mental Health conversations

Takeaways:

  • Add to all check-ins a question for managers to ask their teams about their well-being and mental status
  • Communication from the CEO about the commitment
  • Quarter newsletter with info about the Mental Health support
  • Have multiple Mental Health First Aid in the office
  • Communicate the anonymous hotline around the office and in ECO. Hotlines should be there for emotional, financial and all sorts of private topics employees do not want their employer to know
  • Offer a You-Day a month: take time to relax, learn, spend time with the family, well-ness mental and body

Sustainable workplace: peer to peer recognition

Sustainable workplace: peer to peer recognition

Sustainable workplaces have a lot to do with a healthy company culture and embracing the right values goes hand in hand with longevity and so sustainability. One of the most important aspects of a healthy company culture - in my view -  is peer to peer appreciation. It is not easy to nurture, as sometimes we can be competitive beings but if companies get it right, a real inclusive and team work environment can flourish.

Converting non believers : How investing in learning pays off

Converting non believers : How investing in learning pays off

So much content is out there about getting your workplace to invest in learning, but quite often, it’s not that your employees don’t want to learn and more so that you are struggling to convince your top level management that training initiatives are worth the investment. Training can be an expensive investment, convincing them to sign off the budget could be the biggest obstacle to creating a continuous learning culture, but here are some points that might just change their minds.

1. Learning creates a more engaged workforce

2. Learning equals productivity increase

3. Learning reduces stress

4. Learning means you stay relevant

Sustainable Home |First steps for financial well-being for women CHAPTER 2 + Top Tips

You might be wondering, if this blog is exclusive for women. No, it is not. This note is not about gender, but about language. I have struggled to get my financial life together for ever! I read all those books with big words like “assets”, “liabilities”, “profit”, “gross pay” and what not… It did intimidate me.  Short background about me: I do not have any any any financial education. But here I was ready to rock my bank account. And I did not know how! I was in a thirteen-year long relationship and for some reason finances and financial health never crossed my mind. We lived day by day, never saved and we did not have nothing to fight for by the time we decided to be apart. On top of that, I come from a typical household in which parents do not save and in fact I would hear them fight over money all the time. I did not want that for myself, so I never wanted to hold those conversations with my ex-partner, it was the elephant in the room. But I was asking myself, how can I make it out of this trap? I want to be able to have a better life and be more strategic with my money.  Eventually, I did exit the relationship and I had to start from scratch. For all those single women out there… I feel you! It is not easy to pay it all by yourself. We had a fifty-fifty rule, everyone knows that one flat for one cost you double then the same flat for two. Dahhh! Anyway, after 3 years single, I can say that I have managed to get my financial freedom and I can proudly scream that I have a healthy financial life – for now. I will show you what worked for me and hopefully, some of these ideas work for you!

Mental health Post COVID19 : post-traumatic stress disorder CHAPTER 1

Mental health Post COVID19 : post-traumatic stress disorder CHAPTER 1

We are grieving globally and rediscovering our creative identity!   Mental health is a hot topic for companies and employees. The World Health Organisation considers stress an epidemy. Stress is the first cause for mental health problems – the connection is clear. We now have a pandemic on top of it, COVID19 is here. Two for one. How can we get ready for what will happen after? How can we support each other? How can employers support us?  We are obviously in the middle of a crisis and as most crises change will come with a financial impact. I have been speaking with artists, creative minds, kick-ass entrepreneurs to think about future landscapes and how the world we know could – and actually should - change. We feel this is an opportunity to reset and change those dynamics we know are toxic - emotionally and environmentally - hence why I have put together some ideas and trend to discuss this global issue. Some of the take-aways will look more into each of us as individuals and what we can do and our community, some proposals will have to be business and/or government led.
