Episode 10: Final Reflection
Although the final interview has taken place, On the Job has one last episode for you! In this final, reflective episode, host Nupoor Ranade and Wilfredo Flores speak with ... themselves! That's right, as the title suggests, Nupoor and Wilfredo review some of the advice shared in the past nine episodes, talk about how they adapted some of the advice for their own preparation, and chat about how to convert some of the advice for a pandemic job market. They also end with some extra nitty gritty tips on doing Zoom interviews.

Episode 9: Dr. Allison Hutchison
The final episode of On the Job has finally arrived! In this last episode, hosts Nupoor Ranade and Wilfredo Flores speak with Dr. Allison Hutchison, Senior Lecturer in the Engineering Communications Program at Cornell University. In this episode, Allison speaks about tailoring job searches, knowing what you're capable of and qualified for, using LaTeX and Overleaf for job materials, and making a website in GitHub. Allison also talks about transferring dissertation research into the work she does as Senior Lecturer, offering ways such work can take place in a job talk.

Episode 8: Dr. Ashanka Kumari
The penultimate episode of On the Job has arrived! Hosts Nupoor Ranade and Wilfredo Flores are joined this time by Dr. Ashanka Kumari, an Assistant Professor of English in the Department of Literature and Languages at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
In this interview, Ashanka talks about working with graduate students by drawing on her own experiences as a grad student, using multiple job offers (if you have them) as leverage for the job you want, and taking the time to take care of herself. Ashanka also talks about the importance of student diversity and living in a place that resonates with your identity.

Episode 7: Dr. Sweta Baniya
A new On the Job episode is ready for you, and this time, hosts Nupoor Ranade and Wilfredo Flores speak with Dr. Sweta Baniya, an incoming Assistant Professor of Rhetoric, Professional & Technical Writing at Virginia Tech University. This episode was recorded before Sweta defended her dissertation (a week, in fact!), and so she offers invaluable advice about document management for the job market, including making cover letters, retooling CVs, and preparing other documents. Sweta also talks about handling dissertation work during the fall semester during which the job market takes place, and she discusses the importance of taking time to unwind and relax.

Episode 6: Dr. Adam Strantz
On the Job is back again with another excellent inquiry into the job market. In the sixth episode, hosts Nupoor Ranade and Wilfredo Flores interview Dr. Adam Strantz, an assistant professor in the departments of English and Emerging Technology in Business and Design at Miami University.
In this interview, Adam talks about being adaptable on the market and looking for jobs from a variety of disciplines and their intersections. As he says in this episode, we in rhet-comp and technical professional writing are primed for these positions, and Adam talks about how his own job has presented unique opportunities and challenges.

Hello! The inquiry into the job market continues with this the fifth episode of On the Job w/ the Sweetland Digital Rhetoric Collaborative. This time, hosts Nupoor Ranade and Wilfredo Flores interview Dr. Antonio Byrd, an assistant professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Antonio talks about the social aspect of the job market, reviewing his experiences with moving to another city, and he discusses setting boundaries—and sometimes failing—for work and home life. Antonio also talks about the need to listen to the body, mind, and heart when making choices for the job market.

Welcome to the fourth episode of the On the Job w/ The Sweetland Digital Rhetoric Collaborative podcast! Hosts Nupoor Ranade and Wilfredo Flores continue the interview series by speaking with Dr. Sara Doan, assistant professor of technical communication at Kennesaw State University.
In this interview, Sara talks about her experiences working the first year as a tenure-track faculty member in an R2 university, and what research and teaching looks like in this setting. Sara also discusses her approach to working smarter and not harder and how to maximize the productive interplay between conference presentations, comps exams, literature reviews, and article drafts. She also chats about managing the dissertation workload, offers tips about Skype interviews, campus visits, and job talks, and talks about the value of making a floral wrap dress (with pockets!).

In this introductory episode, hosts Nupoor Ranade and Wil Flores, 2019-2020 DRC fellows, run through some of the details about the show, a bit about who they interviewed, and who this show is for. You can probably guess by the name, but this podcast is a candid review of different folks’ experiences on the job market specific to writing, rhetoric, and technical communication. The episodes are full of great advice from a variety of scholars in different positions, so there’s something for everyone here.
