Kathleen Gaines: Mental Health and Dance
As a dancer Kathleen trained at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School and the San Francisco Ballet School in their pre-professional divisions. She also spent summers at the School of American Ballet and the Chautauqua Festival program.
Over the last 10 years, Kathleen has written more than 100 articles on dance for Dance Magazine, Pointe, Dance Spirit, and Dance Teacher magazines. As a result she has had the opportunity to conduct nearly 1,000 interviews with dancers, teachers and dance medical professionals. In 2014 she was named a contributing writer to Dance Magazine.
Kathleen is also a dedicated nonprofit development professional and was the Director of Development at the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy where she worked for more than 7 years raising money to support public parks. She serves as a member of the development committee for the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science.
Minding the Gap was founded as a reaction to the outpouring of support Kathleen received after she posted the article Why are we still so bad at addressing dancers' mental health on the Dance Magazine website in the summer of 2017. Her ambition is to enact a movement which results in mental health being regarded with the same seriousness as physical health in dance culture.

Blaine Alden Krauss is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida. He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati. After making his broadway debut in the critically acclaimed “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812” he strutted across Al Hershfield in the Tony Award Winning “Kinky Boots” and is currently featured in the “The Cher Show”. He was also seen in the Radio City New York Spectacular under the direction of Mia Michaels and on tour of Disneys “The Lion King” playing Simba in theatres all across the US and Canada. In 2011 his talents led him to be a feature performer for the largest Commemoration of 9/11 outside of the U.S at the Trocadero in Paris, France performing for Government Officials and then a free concert in front of the Eiffel Tower with the Royal Orchestra. In 2010 he was selected to be 1 of 20 Presidential Scholars in the Arts by the White House and Presidential Scholar Commission. This honor culminated in a medal ceremony with President Barack Obama and a performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Blaine was selected to be the Feature Vocalist at the 2010 July 4th Celebration at the US National Archives; a feature vocalist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra in Indiana for their Holiday Pops Concert; was a selected participant at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh Scotland; a 2010 Silver Winner in Musical Theatre by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts Program, and can be currently seen as a frequent performer of “Feinstein’s 54 Below in NYC, as well as with symphonies across the country with Spot-On Entertainment. Melissa Scheetz: Managing an injury as a ballerina with no health insurance
Melissa is a graduate from the University of Utah where she completed a Masters in Exercise and Sport Science. She had the privilege to work with dancers from Ballet West Academy's Trainee Program for her Masters research project where she focused on how help the dancers increase the awareness of their footwork through specific exercises. Most recently, Melissa has completed the Progressing Ballet Technique training with Marie Walton-Mahon in New York City.
Prior to attending graduate school, Melissa completed a Bachelors in Finance and was employed in the management and accounting fields for a number of years. It was during this time that she realized how much she missed dance, more specifically ballet. Melissa was very fortOn this week’s episode Melissa Scheetz opens up about her professional ballet career, getting injured during Nutcracker, and the struggle to survive in a dance company with no health insurance.
Fortunate to have had the opportunity to perform with The Tallahassee Ballet under the direction of Joyce Straub and Kathryn Cashin. The experiences of performing with the company aided in her decision to return to school to focus on a course of study that would be beneficial in working with dancers. Ultimately, her goal is to become a Physical Therapist and help dancers have careers they can say are fulfilling, enjoyable, and less impacted by injuries.

Raymond Bennett: I Can Be a Professional Dancer and Runner, I CAN Do It All!
Raymond is from the Tampa Bay area in Florida. He is a Dancer, Singer, and Actor. Formally trained at New World School of the Arts in Miami, and the Ailey School in New York City. After the completion of the Fellowship program at the Ailey School, he performed in the Broadway production of 'The Wiz' at New York City Center. Later, he was in the ensemble with the Radio City Rockettes in the Christmas Spectacular for four seasons. Most recently, he performed with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings aboard the Oceania Riviera.

Samiyah Parramore: Navigating life as a professional dancer right out of college, while dealing with early onset arthritis
Samiyah Lynnice Parramore is a Florida native. She began her training at Academy of Ballet Arts and Artz 4 Life Academy, Inc. in the Tampa Bay Area, Fl. Miss Parramore is a graduate of New World School of the Arts and The Hartt School in Hartford, CT where she received a Bachelors in Fine Arts. She has toured the United States as a principle dancer with DunDu Dole West African Ballet in her youth and stared in the Chocolate Nutcracker as ‘Claire’ and ‘The Dream Princess”. She has performed works by Martha Graham, Jose Limon, Doug Varone, Norbert DeLaCruz, Manuel Vignoulle, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Bryan Arias, and Stephen Pier. Miss Parramore has been accepted into various summer workshops such as Dance Theater of Harlem, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Martha Graham Dance Company, RIOULT, and White Mountain Dance Festival. Samiyah is excited to begin her first season with Cleo Parker Robinson Dance.

Jared Brunson: Dancing in my dream company while being treated for an adductor strain.
At age 18, after working briefly with Florida Dance Theatre, Jared joined BalletX as one of the first full time members. While there, he participated in seven world premieres by Olivier Weavers, Nicolo Fonte, Matthew Neenan and more. He also had been a guest at the Pennsylvania Ballet and the University of the Arts on multiple occasions, performing at the Kennedy Center, The Mann Center, and the Kimmel.
At age 20, Jared joined Oregon Ballet Theatre under the new direction of Kevin Irving. There performing works my Nacho Duato, George Balanchine, and Christopher Stowell. Shortly thereafter, Jared was offered a contract with Ballet Memphis where he has performed as a soloist and principal for four seasons. There, he has acquired acclaim in Dance Magazine, The New York Times, and many local publications for his performances in the midsouth. Jared continues to also be an award winning musician aside from dance and theater.
