We’re honored and so grateful to bring today’s guest on, because they’re an avid listener of this very podcast!! Which made the show so much fun and you’ll experience that with us in this episode.

However, that’s not why we had Evelyn on the podcast… We had her on to share her fitness journey and transformation story, which began as just a Mom who jumped into a CrossFit class to simply make her husband happy…

But it quickly escalated into her becoming obsessed with the physical development and transformation process, which led to competing in CrossFit and opening her own training facility called The Buffalo. However, her CrossFit days ended when she suffered a serious injury that took her out of the gym… but like most triumphant success stories, every downfall is just another step towards greatness! In Evelyn’s case, this led to her current passion and journey of bodybuilding.

We dive into her story to learn how she handled all the above while being a mother and wife, continued growing her fitness business, competed in figure competitions, dealt with body image issues, shifted her mindset around strict dieting, and what her current prep for Junior Olympia looks like, as we speak!

This episode’s special guest is a legend in the fitness industry, the one and only Jim Stoppani!

Dr. Jim Stoppani is a leading authority on exercise science, sport nutrition, and supplementation. He received his doctorate in exercise physiology with a minor in biochemistry from the University of Connecticut. After graduation, he served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Yale University School of Medicine, where he investigated the effects of exercise and diet on gene regulation in muscle tissue. For his research he was awarded the 2002 Gatorade Beginning Investigator in Exercise Science Award by the American Physiological Society. From 2002 to 2013 Stoppani was the senior science editor for Muscle & Fitness, Muscle & Fitness Hers, and Flex magazines. He went on to be a massive piece of bodybuilding.com’s success in the early years of online fitness content. Finally, he is the owner of JYM Supplement Science – his personal company.

Now, on top of all the educational accolades and credentials – Dr. Jim Stoppani has written thousands of articles on exercise, nutrition, and health for some of the largest production companies in the fitness industry. He is the coauthor of the best sellers LL Cool J's Platinum 360 Diet and Lifestyle, Stronger Arms & Upper Body, and PrayFit. He has even been the personal nutrition and health consultant for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, LL Cool J, Dr. Dre, Mario Lopez, and Chris Pine.

A touchy and potentially controversial or triggering subject for this episode... But it's what needs to be said, in order for YOU to grow beyond what your current mindset allows you to believe can be accomplished!

Too many people use the excuse of "self love" as a way to simply accept where they're at as "just fine" and stay comfortable, avoiding discomfort and therefore self growth. Well, I believe that becoming aware of where you're NOT at, while accepting that you're NOT the person you truly want to become... Is the best form of self love, because it's self-honesty.

With this level of honesty, comes serious self-growth because it forces you to become aware of where you're at, accept that you're not where you should or could be, and then CHANGE yourself in order to get there.

And if the common excuse is to not get uncomfortable and grow, because today's world tells you that you need to practice self-love and self-acceptance... Well, that's self-delusion if you ask me. Because growing into the best version of yourself, is the ultimate form of self-love.

Reverse dieting is an important process when it comes to body recomposition. Essentially, it's a phase when you slowly increase calorie intake after going through a long diet phase. This method helps you not gain weight so fast after the caloric restriction. It also allows the metabolism to readapt.

In this episode, Cody dives deep into this topic, sharing his five most relevant tips to reverse diet properly. These habits are things Cody is currently doing after stepping on stage. 

Although generally used by bodybuilders and athletes, reverse dieting is also recommended for everyone who has finished a calorie regimen and wants to transition to a maintenance or building phase smoothly and efficiently.

Blood glucose monitoring is also essential for the active individual, especially if this individual has a diet rich in carbohydrates and wants to optimize their intake to feel more energetic.
