Episode 9: Consent Culture in Theatre w/ Mika Laulainen

Episode 9: Consent Culture in Theatre w/ Mika Laulainen

Mika Laulainen, a director, artist and all around badass in the theatre community, chats with me about consent, non-monogamy and the patriarchy.
In the past, it's been an unspoken understanding that actors should dive into any situation they find themselves in. But this can be triggering for some people. Especially when it comes to creating art that might centre around sex, sexual violence, physical altercations or anything that could cause a boundary to be crossed.
Mika and I chat about some of the work she's doing to create a safe, communicative space where actors can feel free to express their boundaries while still staying true to the art they're creating.

Episode 6: Ways We Give Away Our Power

We have been conditioned to subdue our true power. Ep.3 Is Your Vulva Normal?: 4 Vulva Myths

Ep.3 Is Your Vulva Normal?: 4 Vulva Myths

There has been so little research done on the female body. It makes us wonder if we're normal, if we're healthy or if we're crazy. I know plenty of health care providers who brush off women's pain and issues. But more and more information is starting to surface as we finally delve into the mysteries of the deep...or at least the mysteries of the vulva. In this episode I debunk 4 myths surrounding the vulva so we can finally put these damaging ideas to rest. Disclaimer: I know that not all women have vulvas and not all people with vulvas are women. There isn't a ton of research out there on trans & gender queer bodies. So we can't accurately say that what works for cis women will work for trans folk. This research is based on cis women who grow up to identify as female.   Tips for overcoming non concordance:  http://www.jenniferdoanconsulting.com/blog/2019/5/23/when-your-body-feels-like-the-enemy-arousal-non-concordance FREE Energizing Orgasm Audio Lesson: https://jennifer-doan.mykajabi.com/energizing-orgasm-audio-lesson

Episode 2: Taking Back Your Brain: Overcoming Body Shame

Episode 2: Taking Back Your Brain: Overcoming Body Shame

Self hatred is all too real. It eats away at our insides and holds us back from accepting how amazing we truly are.
We can waste our whole life away, stuck in our brains, shaming and judging ourselves for things that only we can see. In this episode, I talk about some techniques to help you down the path of self-acceptance.
Notice I don't say self-love...

Episode 1: Breakups & Orgasms

Episode 1: Breakups & Orgasms

Inside all of us is a sexy, confident inner badass. Maybe you've already met yours. I met mine almost 7 years ago, after a painful breakup pushed me to take control of my body and rebuild the relationship with my sexual energy.
This wasn't about sex (although that was part of the journey), this was about harnessing this powerful part of my self and giving my entire life a facelift. It was about stepping into the person I was meant to be so I could live the life I always wanted. Here's how I got there...
