In an era when players also worked while playing, Coyne had already spent ten years working in the Financial Industry utilising his marketing degree before retiring from the NRL in 1999. Coyne moved into the insurance industry Coyne’s knowledge and experience led him to senior roles within the industry, including Executive General Manager of GIO's national workers compensation claims operations and Executive/Managing Director of Coal Services Pty Ltd, a specialist workers compensation insurance scheme for the coal mining industry. In 2012 Mark commenced as Chief Executive of EML after joining the organisation two years earlier strong growth followed under his leadership EML saw remarkable growth doubling in size. With a degree in Business Management, our guest was a Director of NRMA Road Service and a Director of the Police and Citizens Youth Club for a decade. Coyne remains committed to charity work as a board member of the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation and is a Benefactor of the NSW Children's Cancer Institute.

Johnny Lewis OAM has impacted on so many of these young lives, whether personally or sometimes indirectly, suffice to say, zero doubt has saved many young lives or steered young Australians to a better life path whether via sport or with his simple yet profound, sometimes strong, but always caring words of wisdom.
Lewis’s headquarters for so many years The Factory Of Champions, the iconic, Newtown Police Boys Club. Many very respected professionals have called Lewis the most connected man in Australian sport! Often referred to as the Godfather of Australian boxing. Lewis was inducted into the Canastota Boxing Hall Of Fame in New York back in 2006 the very same year awarded the Order Of Australia Medal.

James Dack joins John Gibson
We’re talking Real Estate with John Gibson Managing Director, Locate Negotiate and our co-host Mark Warren. Our special guest is none other than James Dack, Real Estate superstar, turned technology entrepreneur. What a journey of blood, sweat and tears!
The high life was an ocean away from where he grew up, the depressed, hardscrabble streets of Sydney's inner-city suburb of Woolloomooloo, where his family moved in 1973, when Dack was 13. He was the eldest child, five years ahead of Stephen, eight years older than Alison. Losing his beautiful Mum Florence, at just 52, James just at 14, effectively becomes the man of the house. James and Stephen (a superb amateur boxer and distinguished Rugby League player) literally call the Woolloomooloo PCYC home, his attachment and commitment to the PCYC is legendary and ongoing to this day where James remains on the PCYC Board.
In the late eighties, Dack started in the real estate industry as co-founding partner of McGrath Real Estate. He reaped a bounty in the glory years of the 1990’s and well into the new century. Television bosses Ryan Stokes and David Gyngell, one time Qantas Chief Geoff Dixon and former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull all bought and sold through Dack’s earthy Australian pitch. The industry recognised a star and awarded Dack its trophy for being the nation's leading real estate agent several years running. He was the top sales person with McGraths 19 years in a row, yet Dack doesn’t like the term sales person!?
Dack’s work for charity and community is just simply phenomenal and well documented all rooted in his humble upbringings on those streets around Woolloomooloo, where the rich and poorer families were separated by a pitching wedge.
James is happily married to Mary Cowin, the daughter of Billionaire Mr Jack Cowin of Hungry Jacks fame, and so we had to ask THE REAL BIG QUESTION, and that is, “BIG MAC or Whopper?!”

Joel Caine joins John Gibson
A must listen from a brilliant story teller. Sugar Joel Caine, former NRL player with the St George Dragons, Balmain Tigers, Wests Tigers (amassing 526 points with try scoring ability and a precision boot) then to the English Super League with The London Broncos and Salford City Reds. Caine is now the face of corporate bookmaker Sportsbet, his strapline is “Remember, always gamble responsibly”.
His story takes us for a ride, in part an emotional and financial roller coaster, as Caine reflects on a business decision through no fault of his own that had him staring at bankruptcy and again Rugby League was a saviour. In another insight, Caine reflects on his entry to the NRL perhaps by default just perhaps playing a major role in setting up one of Rugby Leagues greatest players in a case of mistaken identity!

Graham Arnold joins John Gibson
Much like his Dad, John Gibson is very much less is more, his message to buyers and investors is simple, ‘DON’T PANIC, HANG ON’!
Our industry leader and Managing Director of Locate Negotiate calls for calm amid what could be a short term rollercoaster ride. Whilst Gibson concedes there is reduced buyer enquiry, longer marketing periods, some vendor discounting and perhaps the days of sales figures exceeding asking prices are gone, for now, Gibson has little doubt, in fact, adamant the Real Estate market will see blue skies perhaps sooner than anticipated. Certainly, sooner than the so called experts who just a couple of years ago forecasted drops of up to 30% in the residential market. Gibson points to the growth over the last two years being ‘off the charts’. Gibson has the answers as to why we are in a strong position. A must listen for any buyer or investor!
Sure, interest rates are on the rise with the RBA trying to apply the hand brake with rising living costs due to inflationary factors but for how long will the interest rates hikes last? Gibson gives his take, his reasons for optimism are factual and comforting, to say the least!
Talk about ‘Where were you?’ moments in Australian sport’, Socceroos Coach Graham Arnold substitutes Matt Ryan, his first choice goalkeeper and his captain, with ‘The Grey Wiggle’ Andrew Redmayne for the Socceroos World Cup qualifier against Peru. The major point is this was part of ‘Arnie’s’ plan long before this massive call and can attribute the master stroke to the influence his coaching mentor Gus Hiddink has had on our Socceroos coach as he leads the side to the World Cup in Qatar. Hiddink the master planner and strategist, and Arnold soaked up his lessons it’s an extraordinary insight! That relationship with 'Aussie Guus' etched in history a special relationship, again speaking of ‘Where were you?’ moments, Australian Sporting Moment of the Century, yep, ‘that John Aloisis goal’ from the penalty box slammed into the net against Uruguay in front of 82,000 adoring Australians. Simply WOW!
Originally a Sutherland boy, Arnold clocked up 178 games with Sydney United during the 80’s before playing abroad in Belgium, Holland and Japan. This very grounded Super Coach has Real Estate insights if purchasing in Holland! Arnold became player coach for Northern Spirit with Robbie Slater and Phil Moss also at the new club.
The coaching ranks beckoned. Coaching Sydney United, then Northern Spirit, moving forward as an assistant and caretaker with the Australian teams before taking on the Australian U/23s. Arnold's time with the Central Coast Mariners was certainly a breakout period, in his three years with the Mariners the Central Coast side achieved three top two finishes, one premiership and one Championship. A quick stint in Japan before landing the Sydney FC coach and Arnold's stocks rose again with another two Premierships and an FFA Cup. He is a Football Federation Australia Football Hall of Fame Inductee; we welcome Graham Arnold to Talking Real Estate with John Gibson.

Sam Kekovich joins John Gibson
Our special guest, none other than The Lambassador, Slammin Sam Kekovich! Kekovich was born in Manjimup, Western Australia, to Yugoslav parents who had emigrated to Australia after the war. Tobacco farms dotted the Ovens Valley landscape in the 1960s. One of them briefly was home to a couple who had fled Yugoslavia at the end of World War 2 and initially settled in Manjimup in country Western Australia before heading east. Vic and Mary Kekovich found their way to Nug Nug via Gunbower to continue growing tobacco.
Make no mistake - Kekovich considers himself a Myrtleford boy and Victorians consider him one of their finest. Taking us on a journey through the highs and the lows of business, sport and family, he is extremely open and candid. Slammin Sam played 124 games with North Melbourne, giving a star performance in their inaugural premiership victory back in 1975. Sam, an inductee into North Melbourne's Team Of The Century, also played 4 matches with Collingwood.
His lead role for Meat and Livestock Australia is a blockbusting advertising success story and Kekovich takes us behind the scenes. You know it makes sense! Luke Ricketson joins John Gibson

Luke Ricketson where does one start? Son of former Eastern Suburbs player Doug Ricketson, Luke started his footy with Bondi United at the age of seven back in 1980 and attended Waverley College. Clocking up 301 games for the Sydney Roosters overtaking club legend Kevin 'Horrie' Hastings record of 217 matches. (Ricketson's club record would be overtaken by Anthony Minichiello with 302 and then subsequently surpassed by Mitchell Aubusson with 306 games.) Ricketson played 3 matches for City, 10 for the Blues, 4 matches with Ireland and 6 caps for Australia, 2 Grand Final appearances for the Chooks, winning the premiership in 2002 against the Warriors and a loss to the Panthers in 2003, add a World Club Challenge victory against English Super League Champions St Helens. What a career!
Turning the page, and the business world beckoned purchasing a pub in Surry Hills with great friend Bryan Fletcher, he went on to join the Nine Entertainment Company in media sales, a regular panel member on Nine's ratings blockbuster, The Footy Show and also featured on Seven's Sydney Weekender program. Let's add to the list, Sexiest Man in League and Dancing With The Stars and at a glance one would have to say, what a journey so far!
Luke shares his early property experiences we also look at business decisions past and present. Erin Molan joins John Gibson
Potential interest rate rises are still in the news and now a war on top yet Gibson says the market remains strong and resilient and he's never been busier although he has real concerns for building companies in certain areas. As always, we have John's market wrap to help keep our listeners in front of the game. Sydney's population is predicted to hit 1.7 million by 2036 and Greater Western Sydney is tipped to absorb two thirds of that growth; we have the areas to watch. Erin cut her media teeth in community television before landing at WIN Television Wollongong. Fast forward, now its brekky radio on Today FM's The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed and Erin, a Sky News contributor and Daily Telegraph Columnist. Molan spent 11 years as a news anchor and sports presenter with Nine, very much a main stay with the WWOS team, Rugby League, tennis, netball and even anchored some boxing as well, versatile an understatement. The first woman to host The Footy Show, so very much a pioneer of types. Erin crash tackled her way into the Continuous Call Teams commentary box at 2GB and networked stations around Australia and again her creativity and humour took centre stage.
On a most serious note, Molan is extremely passionate about online safety, campaigning for new laws to protect Australians from disgusting trolls and those new laws were introduced into Parliament just last year.
First and foremost, though, Erin is a working Mum to young Eliza!

Sharks new head coach Craig Fitzgibbon is our special guest, as a player, well the CV too vast for a podcast overview, in short a star! His father Allan won a premiership with the Tigers back in 1968 and coached the Sharks between 1988 and 1991 including their inaugural minor premiership. Big shoes to fill one might surmise the pressure is on well and truly before a ball has been kicked. Fitzgibbon has been around dressing sheds since he was five years old, as a player he clocked 1680 first class games including an NRL premiership with The Roosters, 11 State of Origin appearances for The Blues, he represented Australia on 19 occasions. When Craig retired from the Roosters he became the defensive coach under a great mentor in Trent Robinson and then joined Brad Fittler's staff over the past three years for two series wins. Perhaps Fitzgibbon is the Minister for Rugby League Defence. Fitzgibbon has been around pressure all his life, he soaks it up, it's what he knows best!

A brutal 1,757 kms over 65 days, Chris is walking for Australian individuals, families and communities reeling from the long lasting impact of Covid-19 (which isn't over yet). For this mammoth challenge, Walker is fighting back and fighting for those who have felt the impact of poor mental health, suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, and domestic violence. They're causes close to Chris' heart as he has witnessed how easily these issues can slowly creep up and take over a person's life.

Michael Cheika former Wallabies coach Joins John Gibson
Our special guest needs no tail of the tape introduction, enter Michael Cheika. A self-made man, grew up in Coogee and what a journey so far for this former Marcellin Brothers Randwick student. From a humble family property, but a start all the same, Cheika is ever grateful to his family. As a player, the Number 8 played Under 21s for Australia, more than 300 games for The Galloping Greens and Seven Chute Shields along the way... do you mind! His playing and coaching record is a passport to the world, the envy of any seasoned traveller.
