We’ve walked through the dark days of the Tribulation, but now the somber gives way to song. In Revelation 19, we turn the page from the ominous days of judgment to bright days of blessing. We walk with John in his vision to the greatest events for this earth—the second coming of Christ to establish His Kingdom on earth. The Angels message involves the whole world too. This book is little because the time of the great tribulation won't be long. The Lord Jesus said it was brief. The prophet Daniel labeled it as seven years. There's not much time left. Romans 9 28 tells us he will finish this work and cut it short in righteousness because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth.

The Lord Jesus Christ is a Lion and a Lamb. As a lion refers to His second coming; the lamb character refers to His first coming. The lion is symbolic of His majesty; the lamb is symbolic of His meekness. As a lion He is a Sovereign; as a lamb He is a Savior. As a lion He is a Judge; as a lamb He is judged. The lion represents the government of God; the lamb represents the grace of God.

This is week nine into our series of Revelation, and our podcast today is titled: Only One is Worthy. My podcast today will be based on the reading of Revelation 5. 

If you’re going to heaven, you might want to know about it before you get there. The most important information is from the Lord Jesus Himself when He tells us He’ll be there ahead of us. If nothing else wonderful is said about heaven, this would be enough: We’re going to be with Him.

We must be very careful in our study of God’s Word, that we not run ahead of His Spirit. Let Him be our teacher. Only the Spirit of God can make His Word real to you.

We’re visiting the first century churches represented by the lamp stands in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. Also, do you know that one of the scariest Bible verses lives in the book of Revelation? At least, one of the scariest to me and it doesn’t have anything to do with the number 666, Satan, or anything that you are probably thinking of right now. But what it has to do with is something so ordinary that you might never think about it. And it’s in Revelation.

We look around at a dark work today and wonder how it’s going to end. All we need to do is turn to the last book of the Bible, the Revelation. What we read there tells us it’s going to work out all right.

The Bible consists of sixty-six books, which are like chapters in a story about Jesus

• The story starts with Creation and the Fall
• Then it moves through history, introducing characters and describing events that explain God’s plan of redemption
• And in the final chapter (i.e., Revelation), all the loose ends are wrapped up, and the story comes to a climactic conclusion
• Because the Bible is truly one story, we can’t open the final book of the Bible expecting to understand it unless we have a good appreciation of what       comes before
  • The book of Revelation relies heavily on imagery and symbols that are introduced in earlier books of the Bible
  • And the text is written assuming we are familiar with the Bible’s themes, storylines, and characters in the earlier 65 books
  • So, if we don’t have that background, we will be lost

Checklist: How to Love Your Body

You are a priceless treasure and God delights in you, simply because you are His creation. Knowing this can spur you on to love your body in new and exciting ways. Here are a few ideas to help you do just that…

Take Care of Yourself

• Get enough sleep. Take the time to get the Zzz’s you need. You’ll feel more energized and happier.
• Eat foods that nourish you. Pay attention to how the foods you eat make you feel. If they make you feel bloated or lethargic, experiment with your eating habits.
• Stay hydrated. Drinking enough water can increase your focus, lower your blood pressure, and lubricate your joints.
• Exercise regularly. Pick activities you enjoy doing and participate in them three to four times a week.
• Pray for your health. Ask God to bless you with longevity and good health for years to come.
• Schedule a physical. Seeing the doctor at least once a year can be an excellent way to prevent disease.
• Spend time with God. There’s something about being in the presence of God that rejuvenates and refreshes your mind and body.
• Rest and Recharge
• Take time for fun activities. Read a book, watch a movie, or simply sit on your front porch enjoying a sunset.
• Say “no” to overload. You don’t have to be on every committee or help out with every project.
• Unplug from social media. At least once a week, try to set aside a day to avoid the social networks.
• Give yourself space to relax. Leave some blank space on your calendar just because.
• Spend time in nature. A bike ride, a quick hike, or a dip in the pool can be wonderful ways to rest.
• Go on a mini vacation. If possible, leave your city for 3-4 days and spend time away, doing things you love.

Feel Good about Yourself

• Get a manicure or pedicure. It’s OK to pamper yourself sometimes. In fact, you’ll feel better for it.
• Make your environment welcoming. If your home is messy and it’s stressing you out, set aside time to declutter. Depending on how chaotic your life is, this process could take a few weeks or months.
• Celebrate what your body can do. Even if you’re disabled or suffering, focus on what your body can do.
• Wear clothes that boost your confidence. Choose outfits that make you feel good about yourself and allow you to move about your day with ease.
• Challenge yourself to learn new things. Learning something new increases your confidence and can help your mind develop new neural pathways (you get smarter!).
• Give up negative emotions. Don’t be a prisoner to discouragement and defeat. Remind yourself that you serve the God of the impossible.
• Embrace your flaws. Understand that God designed you with intention and purpose. What you perceive to be flaws might just be the very things that God will use to show the world His love.
• Praise God for your gifts. Acknowledge that every good thing you have comes from God and thank Him for what He’s given you.

If you're grieving at Christmas, there are many ways to cope with your emotions. You may feel overwhelmed by the idea of celebrating during a time of loss and pain. It's important that you take care of yourself and honor how you feel.

Christmas is often considered the most joyful time of year. The tree is decorated, parties are planned, and presents are wrapped. But what if you don’t feel joyful at all? If you've experienced a loss or hardship, this holiday can be especially difficult. Knowing what to expect and taking the time to care for yourself can help reduce stress and ease sadness.

This lesson focuses on Biblical strategies for making good decisions—for understanding what God wants you to do in the challenging choices you face. The Bible offers help and great hope!

Every day, we have to make countless decisions. Many of them we make without thinking—but there are some big decisions in life that might make us stop and wonder, What does God want me to do here? Is there a way to understand what God's will is and how we can accomplish it?

Psalm 31:3
For You are my rock and my fortress; therefore, for Your name's sake, lead me and guide me.

It has been exciting to hear stories from many people about how God has answered their prayers! But we all wonder why some prayers seem to go unanswered. What does God want us to do in these challenging situations? Join me in exploring this important subject in the Bible. And remember, I would love to hear from you and serve you in any way I can.

The Bible shows that God answers prayers. But He doesn't answer all of our prayers, does He? What does the Bible say about how to receive an answer to your prayers?

Daniel 2:17-19
Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

Let's look at a fourth wonderful benefit of the Kingdom of God—how it will transform this earth into a planet-wide Garden of Eden! And always remember: This awesome hope for the future has real, practical benefits for making your life now more meaningful and fulfilling!

Humanity is bringing our planet to the point of destruction, but the Bible shows Jesus Christ will intervene. How will His government, laws and citizens change the world? What will the wonderful benefits of the Kingdom of God be?

Romans 8:21-22
...because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

Jesus Christ is coming back to this earth as King of the Kingdom of God to save humanity from destroying ourselves. How will the rebellious and traumatized citizens of this world become the peaceful subjects of God's Kingdom? Who will help serve and teach the people? What does the Bible say about the citizens of the Kingdom of God?

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?

After saving our lives, the Bible promises sweeping changes that will address the causes of this world's problems. In simplest terms, it boils down to two ways of life: Get vs. Give. This world has been traveling the selfish way of Get for thousands of years, and the painful results are all around us. But Jesus Christ will bring a different way, a way of peace, of love, of outgoing concern—in short, the way of Give.

God's way of life—His law—will be the constitution of the new world He will set up. Let's explore what the Bible says about the vital role of God's law in creating the peaceful and prosperous Kingdom of God!

1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

Why does it seem that our governments are helpless in the face of problems, or can become the cause of more problems? Corruption plagues governments around the globe. And conflicts between governments seem to spiral out of control as our world becomes a more and more dangerous place.

But Jesus Christ promised a solution to all these problems! He is coming back to this earth and promises a perfect form of government that will truly serve your needs and the needs of every human being! Explore this wonderful news from the Bible in this episode, "A Real King Who Will Return to Rescue Humanity."

Revelation 11:15
Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!"

As we have all watched a loved one suffer or experienced excruciating pain ourselves, we have all faced the profound question: How could a loving God allow this? Why do innocent people go through terrible trauma? Why do some people die so young? Why is our world filled with so much evil, death and suffering?
This episode looks at these important questions that have troubled people throughout the ages. God does not ignore our heartfelt pleas for understanding. I think you will see that His answers are real, hopeful and life-changing!

1 Peter 1:6-7
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ...

This subject has been a passion of mine since my big brother died when I was 20. Let me share with you the comfort I have found in the Bible on this deeply personal but universally important subject. And remember, I would love to hear from you and serve you in any way I can.

John 3:16-17
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

Sometimes it's good to read through the books of the Bible in order, but sometimes you need the answer to a specific question. The Bible is a big book with a lot of valuable information and advice, but it can be daunting to find the topics and answers you are searching for. Let's look at some tools you can use to make your searches faster and more effective.

Acts 17:11
These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

The Bible is the world's most valuable book on human relations because the Author is also our Creator. He understands people perfectly and always has our best interests in mind!

Lamentations 3:22-25
Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassion's fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I hope in Him!" The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.

As we read and find ourselves in Ezra and this particular point in history, God had chosen Ezra to bring the people back to the Scriptures. Ezra is going to lead a spiritual renewal through the study of God's Word and Worship.

What You'll Discover:

3 things we are to set our hearts on that we see exhibited in the life of Ezra.

1. Set your hearts to STUDY God's Word.
2. Set your hearts to do what God's Word says.
3. The pattern of the Bible is for one generation to pass it on to the next generation.

At a high level… think about what we have already read in previous chapters. In the genealogies might men of war are listed. David’s reign begins after Saul commits suicide in war. David conquers enemies in war. David worships God after God gives them victory. David then works to move the ark; David works to prepare for Solomon to build the temple. Solomon works to build the temple, worships, the glory of the Lord fills the temple. Solomon’s works are recounted in chapter 8. All the kings following Solomon either worship God or idols. If they worship God rightly, they are victorious in war. If they worship as Pagans, they are defeated in war.

Do you see the themes in that fly over?

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

• War - The important thing for us to see over and over is that the chronicler presents God as sovereign over war.
• Work - The theme of work is woven in throughout both of these books. Like the theme of war, the chronicler begins documenting early the works of David. He begins telling of David’s works in the temple of God.
• Worship: 

1. Obedience in Worship
2. Singing as Worship

Message of 1 & 2 Chronicles:

• Main Point - There is a twofold purpose to Chronicles. The first is to offer “covenantal hope” to the post exilic Jews who would read this book.
• Message of Jesus:

1. Jesus is the promised, eternal Son of David.
2. Jesus is the conquering Warrior King.
3. Jesus has completed the work of building the Temple.
4. Jesus is the One whom we are to Worship.

How much time do you spend worshiping him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom of priest?
