Hi Everyone! I was interviewed on the Field Guide to Awesome podcast and am recasting this interview here as it is the beginning of my nursepreneur journey

Fola Veritas is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) who has worked as a member of the crisis unit, in correctional facilities and as part of the safe consumption site team.  We explore the working relationships between nurse and police force, patients, community members and dive into how her own views of support have emerged and are continuing to expand as she looks beyond the traditional methods (detox, rehabilitation) and the “this is how we have done it for decades” processes.

Through her own spiritual emergence, she began to broaden her own perspective of holistic health and challenge the “traditional” definition of care and challenging how we define the unknown as “crazy”  and to look beyond the discomfort to explore other realities and potential pathways.

Her true calling of serving people going through a huge change with a focus on holistic wellness drives her to solutions for answers to the question: What other options are there?

Danielle Klassen studied and graduated from her licensed practical nursing in Ontario in 2007 before moving to Edmonton Alberta in 2008 after a successful job fair.  Advocacy and policy are two guiding values that influence her daily work and it shines through in our conversation.  As a nurse in an acute care family medicine unit, Danielle helps to lead change and improve patient safety outcomes. This is not always easy and we look at some of the barriers in this frank conversation ...that leads us down a political conversation

Dallas shares how her military experience as a medic, coupled with her unique advocacy role as a family member of a patient has shaped her nursing today.  Fascinating to listen to her vision of nursing in the ER where she was once a porter was another pivot point for her career changes. 

Angelo Dalangin is currently working as an orthopedic rehabilitation nurse and specializes in caring for (*ahem*) seniors (you will need to watch the video for the explanation).  Join me and Angelo as we talk about a typical day routine, challenges, and hear his strategies for succeeding as a new nurse.  Angelo is also known as the singing nurse. He is a professional singer and blends his love of singing with his love of nursing.  He even gives us a few spontaneous unplanned lines from a popular song.

Jody Belcher received one of the coveted clinical placements in her final year of nursing school ... the NICU ... yet she had a longing to work in women's health.  With a lack of job opportunities, she started her career in the surgical float pool and believes that important first job was the foundation of her success.  Now she works in women's health and she has a wealth of knowledge to share with you.

Kelsey Penner just woke up one day and decided to be a nurse and what a wild ride it has been ever since.  She has worked as a military nurse, traveled overseas, completed Air med evacuation training, worked in Emergency and the ICU, and is now the newest member of the Alberta Stars Air Ambulance Crew! 

What an education!  Listen to our conversation and the vast knowledge Lindsay shares about medicinal marijuana and my obvious lack of knowledge in the area!

Trista Main is an LPN working in Rural Emergency. In this episode, she shares her origin story and how her grandfather's health journey inspired her to look at nursing as a career.   Her passion for education and a lull in work hours provided her opportunities to take courses and helped position her for her role in ER.

Shelby Young is a Licensed Practical Nurse and the Founder of Indigo Harm Reduction Services based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Shelby helps ensure the success of the festival health program by managing the volunteer education program, keeping the team up to date with the latest harm reduction strategies, curating the educational materials for the space, handling administrative work and delivering the substance checking program. Shelby's role is still growing in Odyssey and she is looking forward to what the future holds with her team!"
