The disparity between genders in sport in India, although improving, is enormous. At the age of 10, when I approached a cricket academy to learn the sport, I was told they don’t teach girls, and, it is the lack of encouragemen that creates this vicious cycle. This podcast aims at slowly chipping away at that barrier to erase the notion that women can't play sports. Get in touch - podcastthegamechangers@gmail.com.

Episode 09: Motherhood and Sportswoman

Hi Everyone! In this Episode, we discuss some examples of women who have become champions, while raising children and running a family - showing the true strength of a woman and the lack of truth in the norms created by society. I was extremely inspired by the dedication these woman had to their sport and can only hope to emmulate some of it. Hope you enjoy :)

He was also one of the eligible candidates that had applied for the post of Indian Women’s Cricket National Coach in December 2018 and 2021. Episode 04: An Interview with Karunya Keshav.

Hi Everyone! In this episode of The GameChangers, I had the privilege to be able to interview Karunya Keshav. Karunya Keshav is an independent sports writer. A lot of her writing is about cricket, and women in sport. Karunya is the co-author of the book 'The Fire Burns Blue', which is a history of women's cricket in India from the 1970s to around 2018. (I would definitely recommend this book for all those who haven't read it yet :)) The unique thing about this interview is the variety of stories talked about and the fact that her answers really allow new things to occur to you. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed listening to the answers! See you again next week :)

Episode 03: An Interview with Monalisa Mehta.

Hi Again! In this 3rd Episode of the GameChangers, I had the privilege of interviewing star table tennis player, Monalisa Baruah Mehta. She is an extremely important Assamese sports personality, and in addition to winning the Arjuna Award in 1987 she is a National champion in all the categories, sub junior, junior & senior. Something really special about this interview is the really positive perspective Mrs Mehta brought to the table that really made me look forward to a brighter future for women in sports. Enjoy her positivity and jovial outlook towards playing sport and see you next week :)

Hi Everyone! In this second episode of The Game Changers, we talk about the Heraean Games and open the treasure chest of an Indian Sportswoman in the year of 1952. I thoroughly enjoyed the research for this episode and consider it a great honour to be reciting the stories of these pioneer women who we all have so much to thank for. Hope you enjoy it and see you again next week :)

Episode 00: Podcast Introduction

This is a podcast that contains stories, opinions, interviews, encounters and experiences and information that aims to raise awareness about the disparity in an attempt to bridge the gap between genders in Indian sport. The disparity between genders in sport in India, although improving, is enormous. At the age of 10, when I approached a cricket academy to learn the sport, I was told they don’t teach girls, and although this is a result of lack of participation, it is the lack of encouragement and sports infrastructure for women that creates this vicious cycle. This podcast aims at slowly chipping away at that barrier through interesting and short stories and interviews to erase the notion that women can't play sports.
