Episode 7 - Healing for Transformation

Episode 7 - Healing for Transformation

D. Farai Williams, Director of Organizational Equity Practice (OEP), joins us for a new episode of Community Conversations, TBC's original podcast series sharing stories and year-end reflections from our immediate and extended community.

Farai is a Somatic Healing practitioner, racial equity professional, activist, artisan and more. She introduces us to a method of inner healing for transformation through the science and practice of Somatic Healing as it embodies TBC's 3 Essential Community Practices (racial equity, trauma-inclusion, and restorative justice). Somatic Healing is being integrated into OEP's work as a way to drive transformation and equity within youth serving organizations.

OEP works to dismantle institutional barriers rooted in systemic racism by training and building solidarity among leaders/staff from other youth serving organizations. Healing the traumatic impact of systemic racism on youth of color in Boston requires collective thinking, commitment, and action to change policies and processes. As such, OEP centers learning in beloved community, building relational connections that allow people across the organizational hierarchy to see each other as whole human beings.
