119 - 4 Things to Schedule when you SUCK at MAKING TIME for LIFE
WHEN YOU SUCK AT MAKING SPACE FOR LIFE...sometimes you've gotta SCHEDULE it!
I don't know about you, but in my former life, there were certain things that I never seemed to have time for. That workout. That phone call home or to my best friend to "catch-up". That hobby that I used to love but that's been collecting dust for ages...
Because you and I? We've always been so much more than the thing that earns us a paycheck each day. And yet, our schedules don't reflect that. How we spend our time doesn't reflect that.
And that sh** needs to change, doesn't it.
In today's podcast episode, we're talking about 4 things you need to schedule to take back your damn life. Each of these 4 things represents a fundamental component of self-care - and no, I don't just mean physical self-care. I mean mental, emotional, social, and physical self-care.
And just be scheduling these 4 things into each week of your life, you'll find that you'll start to prioritize the things that should always have been priorities anyway!

118 - Slowing Down & Putting Joy at the Top of Your To-Do List ft. Ashley Looker
For the first time in 2020, I’m interviewing on the Take Back Your Damn Life podcast and I’m grateful to be interviewing a new friend (and neighbor), Ashley Looker!
Ashley has many of the monikers that so many of us achievers do - recovering perfectionist, productivity junkie, likes to be busy, etc. She gets that—like so many of us do—we get caught up in the rat race of our lives. Today she tells her story and shares her experiences of how slowing down and making joy a priority can be absolute game-changers.
I’m so excited to share this interview with you, the first of 2020!

117 - 3 Tips to Help You Work LESS & LIVE More
Us high-achieving? We're queens of overwork, overwhelm, and over-commitment?
We identify so much with our work, get so much validation from our productivity, and identify so much with our achievement that we can struggle to stop working. But what does that lead to...
- 10-12 hour workdays...
- A 7-day work week...
- Vacations that, well, never happen...
And what does all that lead to? Burnout and lives with no room for living, having fun, and enjoying our hobbies and passions.
In today's episode, you'll get 3 easy tips for working less and living more. These tips will help you create greater boundaries in your life, greater separation from your work, and more time to do all the things (other than your job) that make you YOU! It may not be easy...but it's necessary!

116 - But, How's Your Sleep? - Easy Sleep Tips that WORK
𝗕𝘂𝘁...𝗵𝗼𝘄'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽?
My teenage students HATE when I ask them this question...but it's so damn necessary.
Cuz the burnout? The relentless work? The never stop, never quit, do do do, go go go, burn the candle at both ends shit that we ALL do? We learn that as early as our teens...
And I've been rewriting shit sleep patterns and habits for the better part of a decade. But I'm having this conversation with you now because - even after re-reading the AMAZING book "Sleep Smarter" this summer - I'd forgotten about the necessity of sleep...
After running my body ragged this past month, I'm being reminded that sleep is essential for...
👉🏻A strong immune system
👉🏻Repair and rejuvenation when you've run yourself ragged
👉🏻Memory and focus
👉🏻And SO much more!
In today's podcast episode, I'm talking about easy sleep tips that work and that you can implement TONIGHT when your head hits the pillow!

#115 - How to BOUNCE BACK from a SH**** Month
AUGUST WAS CRAP. Was it just me?
I didn’t feel productive. I didn’t feel motivated. I didn’t feel focused. I didn’t feel…any of the things I usually feel as a high-achieving person. And it sucked to look back at the month of August and realize.
So, as I was doing my monthly review last night, I found myself wondering - how can I bounce back? How can I find my motivation again? How can I get myself back on track?
In today’s podcast, I’m going to share with you 3 tips for bouncing back from a shit month. They’re tips I’ve used in the past and tips I’m using right now to help get me back to my high-achieving self and make September ONE FOR THE BOOKS! Enjoy!
For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram.
114 - 5 Things to STOP DOING to Take Back Your Life
"𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼-𝗱𝗼!!" .
I get that impulse. That hesitation. When it feels like all this coach-y, self-help-y 💩 is just adding more to-dos into your busy AF life.
But, what if I told you that burnout and boundaries can be just as much (if not MORE) about what you STOP doing as what you START?
I feel like so often in the self-help and personal growth space, it can feel like a laundry list and it can feel irritating at times because we already have a lot of shit on our plate! Hell, we’re high-achievers…we ADD those things to our plate to feel that high of productivity.
But my goal in this podcast episode is to give you 5 tips…5 TANGIBLE THINGS…that will free you up, give you space, and allow you time to have more YOU in your life!
For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram.
113 - Self-Care for High-Achievers
When I say "self-care" what do you think of? How do you feel about that?
Do you grimace, thinking "oh dear God, another item on my to-do list"? Do you catch yourself thinking, "um...I don't need this! I'm already a badass"?
I get it. I used to think of weight loss, pant sizes, and all that physical shit when people talked about self-care.
But what if I were to tell you that there are some fundamental misconceptions not only about what self-care is, its benefits, and why you - yes, you - as a high-achiever need it in your life?
Before I tell you what this episode is, let me tell you what it isn't. It isn't me listing off all the self-care activities you "should" do. I don't know you and I don't know your life. So that would be BS anyway. It also isn't an episode where I belabor you on why you need self-care in your life. No, this episode is something different.
In today's podcast, I'm going to give you 4 tips about self-care as a high-achiever. These 4 tips are meant to help you change your mindset around and your approach toward self-care.

112 - CUTESY S*** is UNDERMINING your GROWTH
SORRY NOT SORRY - but cutesy s***?! It's BS...and it's undermining your personal growth...
“Cute” doesn’t transform you. It doesn’t motivate you when you’re stuck. It doesn’t set your soul on fire...and it doesn’t feel authentic!
And this kind of work? That shit has GOT to feel authentic...
And that's why in today's podcast, I'm calling BULLSHIT on all the cutesy shit we catch ourselves doing...and giving you practical tips for how to get CLEAR on the shit that's going to cut the crap and get to the CORE of who you want to be...
For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram.
111 - Dolce Far Niente: Taking a Page from Eat Pray Love
Movie references for the win because, say what you want about Eat Pray Love, but they NAILED the high-achiever, hustler mentality...
There's this one scene in the movie Eat Pray Love where this man name Luca Spaghetti of all things makes some bold, absurdly accurate - in my opinion - claims about Americans. He talks about how we burn ourselves out, feeling like we have to earn pleasure and play, and, honestly, as culturally stereotypical as it is, it's so true!
Because for me? I have gone WEEKS without taking a TRUE day off. I have STRUGGLED with feeling like I had to EARN my downtime. I have felt that feeling like my WORTHINESS + VALIDATION are dependent upon what I produce.
In this podcast episode, we'll be exploring the meaning of the phrase dolce far niente - which translates to the "sweetness of doing nothing." We'll be getting incredibly self-aware about how we FEEL about that saying, and I'll be issuing a CHALLENGE to those of us that struggle with this notion of DOING NOTHING! Can't wait to share it with you!

110 - The Only CAREER ADVICE You'll EVER Need...
Do you ever feel like you don't know what steps to take in your career? Whether to stay or to go? How to move forward? Whether to TAKE that promotion? You're not alone...
I definitely have to. As have a number of my coaching clients. In fact, I realized that, though many of my clients come to me hoping to overcome their burnout, they're really looking for career clarity. They're looking for support and help in making decisions regarding next steps in their career.
These are women who are highly successful, corporate and career-driven badasses, yet they're realizing that what has gotten them there will no longer give them what they want in life. That they want so much more than the paycheck, the prestige, the title...
So, in today's episode, that's what we're going to talk about. It's the only piece of CAREER ADVICE YOU NEED - to LOOK UP THE LADDER!
For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram.
109 - How to do a QUARTERLY (or Mid-Year!) Review
IT'S HALFWAY THRU 2020 - & it's a NEW QUARTER! And I love that...cuz a new quarter is an opportunity to pivot, to learn, to make moves, and to set new goals! And I'm all about that.
So in today's podcast, I'm going to be walking you through my process for doing a quarterly review. It's SO crucial because it keeps you intentional, gives you what you need in your life, and allows you to modify and course-correct moving forward. Plus, it helps you get more shit done than a yearly review process. And isn't THAT what all of us achievers want?
It's a process that made up the foundations for my Take Back Your Life planner, and is something that I'm diligent about doing every 90-days. One planner user said: "I’m on track to hit every single goal! This has never happened before! I’ve been able to create and maintain habits I’ve wanted for years!” So basically, I'm not just blowing smoke up your @$$...

108 - How to STEP UP Your BOUNDARY Setting
If you've EVER felt like you're not making yourself a priority...OR the PEOPLE in your life are constantly over-stepping your boundaries...BUCKLE UP BABE!
In today's episode, you're getting a sneak peek into some never before seen content. Content that up until this point in my coaching business has remained exclusive to my premium clients. But I wanted to share this information with you. It's my 4-step system to identifying and communicating your boundaries.
Not only that, but I'm going to get raw and real about some very tangible examples from my life about how my boundaries were being violated...and I didn't even know it. I go over the hurdles of communicating boundaries, and that it was so hard but so damn necessary!
For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram.
107 - AIRPLANE MENTALITY & Why You MUST Put Your Oxygen Mask On FIRST
These last 10 days have been heavy, emotional, exhausting…and so damn necessary. And I don’t know about you, but I’ve been feeling it.
I’ve learned so much about what I need to do differently and do better. I have become aware and I’m committed to doing what I can.
And with all that, there’s been an endless stream of action items, things to do, content to consume, and so much more. Though I’m committed, I’ve had to get really real with myself about the fact that I just can’t do it all right now. I can’t…or I’ll burn out. And maybe you’re feeling that too.
So, in today’s episode, I’m getting back on track with a topic that’s near and dear to my heart: this notion of the airplane mentality and why it’s so damn necessary to take care of yourself. Because self-care isn’t selfish and I want to leave you today with some tangible questions, ahas, and actions steps for how you can put your oxygen mask on first so that you can continue showing up.
For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram.
106 - What to do when you DON'T FEEL LIKE being PRODUCTIVE
Have you found yourself not "feeling like" being productive? Felt like you should be more productive in your day-to-day life, but you just couldn't seem to muster the motivation or the energy?
If I'm being 1000% honest with you, that's been my experience a lot lately. I haven't been feeling the motivation. I have a TON of things I’m REALLY pumped for but I just haven’t been excited to DO them, you know?
Have you been there, too? If you have, I'm sure you can resonate with the fact that that level of defeat, disenchantment, whatever you want to call it, it doesn't feel good, does it?
Well, that's where I’ve been at. And it’s definitely a place that I’ve been before and that I’ve emerged from before. But how? How have I emerged from it.
Today’s podcast was inspired by digging back into that. Looking at old #TruthBombTuesday newsletters, old journal entries, and just reflecting on my life to answer the question: “What did I do before to emerge from this”? And that is exactly what we’re going to talk about today!
For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and, of course, if you have any questions or want to connect, head on over to @coachellyn on Instagram.

104 - STUCK? It's Time to Give Yourself Some DAMN PERMISSION...
I don't know about you, but I've felt STUCK lately...and I've been judging myself for it...
It started a few weeks ago. I did a Quarterly Business Review with a friend for the first time ever and all I could think was "Oh my God! Some biz owner you are...you've never even DONE something like this before..."
Then, not long after that, I saw all this stuff online about "Be the CEO. Have a CEO mindset!" and it caught my eye again. But with another heaping dose of "Ummm...I don't even know what that means...wow, I'm such a failure!"
I've felt stuck. I've felt defeated. I haven't felt like my best self, and I have had a hard time reigning in the shit talk as it surfaced.
But then this weekend I took part in a summit and during this summit she had us do an exercise that changed everything. It was an exercise that revealed not only my stuckness but why it was happening, that gave me permission to be vulnerable with myself and acknowledge what I'd been hiding, and it gave me permission to step up and step in to all of the fears that I'd been protecting myself from!
In this week's episode, we're going to be talking about that stuckness. I'm going to get raw and real and share the letter that I wrote myself. And I'm going to give you some tangible steps for what you can do to give yourself some damn permission too!

✨WHAT IS BALANCE?!✨
Is it about balance? Or is it about boundaries? Or is it about BOTH?! Is it a day-to-day thing? Does it even EXIST?!
I have THOUGHTS about this. Because ultimately I feel like there are some misconceptions about balance that I want to set straight. Misconceptions that are both misleading us and that are creating unhealthy expectations for us.

𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗢𝗟𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗙 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗦𝗘 4 𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗦?!
I was writing my book this weekend and I ended up in this rabbit hole. It was all about the lies we tell ourselves and all the ways they hold us back from achieving our goals...And it dawned on me how important this is! So, I sure as shit am NOT waiting to share it until my book comes out this summer...

In this week's podcast, I take a deep dive into all of these lies. It's a sneak peek into my upcoming book and WHO KNOWS?! Maybe I'll even get a little daring and read some of the book to you!

✨THERE'S NO BETTER TIME FOR SELF-AWARENESS THAN RIGHT NOW✨
But what is self-awareness? Why do we need it?! And how can we even go about creating more self-awareness...?
I've been talking about this a LOT on Instagram lately. I've been challenging my fellow high-achievers to get aware about their energy levels and what they're doing to manage them. I asked my followers to ask themselves: "Is what you're doing right now working?"
All tough questions and all things that require a huge level of self-awareness to figure out! And that's exactly what we're diving into today.

99 - Releasing + Controlling the Controllables in Your Life
What does it mean to control the controllables? What does it look like to release?
Release has been my word for 2020. And I'm so damn grateful it is. It came to me intuitively at the beginning of the year, and I'm not a woo-woo person, but I feel like it was meant. And it's saved my ass a tremendous amount of stress...
Stress in my job. Stress in my business. Stress in my most recent injury and stress in this pandemic.
When we release we accept that there's shit we can't control...and shit we can! And that's a powerful and important lesson to learn. So, in this episode, I'm going to be sharing some of my recent insights into how releasing has served me, how I've applied it to various parts of my life and some ways in which we can shift our focus to controlling the controllables!

Alrighty...we're just going to stare down the elephant in the room today. CORONAVIRUS. Because for many of us, this is having a MASSIVE impact on our lives.
Our work situation has changed. Our social situation has changed. Many of our day-to-day activities are either suspended or are DRAMATICALLY different, am I right? From work, to working out, to childcare, to social connections...it's all different!
Hell, I signed back up for Bumble a DAY before all bars and restaurants were shut down. So my dating life is DEF getting put on hold!

97 - Value-Based Living: How to FIND + LIVE by Your VALUES
Have you ever caught yourself saying: "One of my biggest values is connection..." or family or relationships and then felt that sinking feeling knowing that it's been AGES since you actually connected with the people you love and care about most in your life?!
This is something that I used to feel often. That stuckness. That feeling of being completing out of alignment. I'd say I valued my health, and yet I was eating pizza every other night and I hadn't moved my body in months out of pure laziness.
Being out of alignment with the things you value SUCKS! But what's even worse? Not even having any idea of what your values ACTUALLY ARE!
In today's episode, we're going to take a look at exactly that! We're going to give you a road map for how to find your values, how to test them to make sure they're right for you, and then, how to LIVE your VALUES in your day-to-day life!

96 - Burnout, Boundaries + Making Time For YOU
Have you ever caught yourself thinking: "I'm just so burned out by my workout...I just don't think I'm passionate about it. Maybe I should quit..."

Have you ever felt like you weren't showing up as fully you? Have you ever felt like the very labels that once empowered you felt like shackles?

Today, we have Elena Joy Thurston on the podcast. She's a transformational retreat leader, inspirational speaker, writer and recently gave her first TedX talk in Colorado Springs. She's on the podcast today telling us a poignant story about authenticity, self-judgment and learning to release her own labels to step into the person she was meant to be.

85 - Being GRATEFUL for the Season You're In
It's Thanksgiving week and I wanted to talk about something that would tie into this notion of thankfulness and being grateful. But I also was reflecting recently on the fact that this has truthfully been a tough year for me! Sometimes it's been tricky to be thankful and grateful because this year has been struggle after struggle. Growing pains are necessary, but they're not always pleasant! And I wanted to have a candid conversation about that...
So, in today's episode, I'm talking about the seasons of life and how to be grateful for where you're at, even if it doesn't feel good! So, I've got 3 tips today to help you be grateful for the season of life that you're in. We'll talk about what some of the seasons of life are, how to acknowledge (and not resist!) them, even if the season you're in is hard for. We'll talk about self-awareness and finding the lesson in the season you're in! And lastly, we'll talk about not judging your season or where you "should be".
Happy Thanksgiving and I hope that this one resonates!

84 - Practical Mindfulness Practices to Live your BEST Life
How can we be committed to bettering ourselves, but also be mindful? CAN those two things coexist?
In early September, my good friend Elena Thurston asked me that question and if she could interview for her community about the practical side of mindfulness techniques. And it turned into an awesome conversation that I cannot WAIT to share with you!
In today's podcast episode, we're turning the tables and I AM BEING INTERVIEWED by someone else, which is so fun, and we're discussing practical mindfulness techniques to live your best life! We talk about the practical side of journaling, of meditation, and of why judgment is such a difficult thing to balance!
I hope you enjoy it and I want to send a huge shoutout and thank you to Elena for not only asking me to have this conversation but also for sharing the audio with me so that I can release it here.

83 - Self-Accountability is the SECRET SAUCE
Do you ever feel like you can't follow-through you on your commitments? That you tend to flake out? That the only way you can get shit done is if you have someone there to hold you accountable?
I get it. I used to feel like that too! In fact, that was the whole reason that I got my start in coaching because I was a fitness accountability coach. Showing up for my clients kept me committed and accountable to showing up for myself. And don't get me wrong, I think there' s a time and place for getting accountability from others. Hell, I'm a coach! My business depends upon that...
But I also think that at some point, we've gotta go it alone. We've gotta step out of what can sometimes be the SAFETY of that group accountability environment and see: "can I really show up just for me?" In fact, it's something I encouraged with my clients as a fitness coach and something I still encourage! My goal is always that, for whatever that person came to me for, that they will get to a point where they don't need me anymore. That I've taught them enough that they can handle it on their own!
But, self-accountability can be hard! So, today I want to give you my top 3 tips for how to create more SELF-accountability! Because self-accountability, truly is the secret sauce. And if you can be accountable to yourself + to the commitments you've made to you and no one else, damn friend, you're going to go far in this life!

82 - How to STOP dieting, beating yourself up and feeling like sh*t ft. Wellness Lately
The first time I remember having body image issues, I was a pre-teen...and the person who told me I was fat was a family member.
That's actually the first time I have said that in a public space...but it's true and it wasn't the last time either. Basically, body image has been a constant struggle for me throughout my life.
That's why when the babes of @wellnesslately asked about coming on the podcast and talking about diet culture, I knew that it was going to happen. Because these conversations can never be had enough.
Today on the podcast, we've got the babes of @wellnesslately, Bridget and Dana, and we're talking about all things diet culture and diet mentality. So many of us have been conditioned in what Bridget and Dana called a "fat-phobic" society to fear food, putting weight and feel shamed because we're not 6-packed, long-limbed Victoria Secret models...and to put it simply, that ain't right.
Bridget and Dana has made it their mission to help women recovering from the diet mentality and from struggles with body image to release diet mentality and take back their lives from this toxic culture through intuitive eating.
Pumped to hear what you think!

81 - Why your BIG LIFE VISION needs even BIGGER ACTION
Why isn't your BIG VISION coming true?
Everyone told you just had to think it into being...MANIFEST your big vision into being...LAW OF ATTRACTION, right?!
In my opinion + experience, that's not the case. I'm not saying that the law of attraction isn't real because self-confirming bias totally is! And I know that plays a role...but there's something missing...
I sat down to review my vision not too long ago and I had a HUGE epiphany. I have already achieved a few of the things in that vision.
The more I looked into it, the more I realized that the things I had achieved were the ONLY things in the vision where I had gotten really tangible about not only on who I wanted to be, but what that version of me would do!
So, in today's episode, we're going to get REALLY tangible about WHY your BIG VISION hasn't happened yet and how YOU can take back the reins to change that!
Super pumped for this one! I cannot WAIT for you to hear it!

80 - On Meditation + Why Enlightenment is Sexy AF ft Valerie Gangas
When I think of meditation... enlightenment... consciousness... SEXY is not often the word I think of that goes with them! And I'm an avid meditator. I've been meditating for 2-3 years now. But enlightenment IS sexy! And I didn't think of it that way until I met today's podcast guest!
Valerie Gangas is a self-proclaimed party girl who, after attending her first Transcendental Meditation experience in 2011, awakened in a profound way. She's always been a lover of religion, but this experience opened her up in a new way. From there, her movement was born, spawning the Amazon bestseller, Enlightenment Is Sexy: Every Woman’s Guide to a Magical Life (EIS).
In today's podcast, we're getting nitty-gritty into her story, how she found meditation, how it grew into her calling, what transcendental meditation (TM), how transformational it is, how it’s different, and how to get started!
It’s so so so good and I really hope ya’ll enjoy it!

79 - 3 Tips to Overcome Self-Judgment
"You do a ton of introspection, which is awesome. So many of us avoid that level of introspection because of self-judgment. We're so used to being critical of ourselves that we end up avoiding exactly what you're doing...Do you struggle with that at all?"
That was a direct quote from an Instagram DM that I received in July and I've only recently come to realize the importance of this person's observation. I had the pleasure of being interviewed by this same person for a mastermind a few months later and we realized some very important things regarding my mindset. But the questions still remains: how can we become less judgmental of ourselves?
Well, in today's episode, I'm giving you 3 important tips to help change your mindset, your self-talk, and to give yourself more credit, all so that you become less judgmental. I'll be giving you examples from my real-life and from my work as a tutor because from so many of us, these are habits and thought patterns we've had since we were young.
Enjoy!
