Teachers & School Leaders: Engaging Courageous Conversations with Andrew Terry, Lisa Jarrett & Ashley Lamb-Sinclair

In this episode of Teacher Check In, Ashley Lamb-Sinclair, a founding member of Brave Teacher Kentucky, discusses the nuances of how educators might engage in courageous conversations with school leaders with two principals - Andrew Terry & Lisa Jarrett - who led her through many. How can educators initiate change, ask for support, or broach tough topics alongside school leaders? And how can school leaders return the support in kind, as well as empower educators to care for their own well-being? These three former colleagues dive into these waters together in today's conversation. Leading Double Lives: Educators, Addiction & Recovery with Jessica Dueñas, Natalie Croney & Renee Boss

In this episode, Renee Boss and Natalie Croney discuss addiction and recovery with Jessica Dueñas, the 2019 Kentucky State Teacher of the Year and an advocate for mental health. Jessica Dueñas worked in special education and equity advocacy for 13 years. Dueñas said that to anyone who looked at her, she excelled, but she led a double life. She hid a history of self-medicating and coping with alcohol, forcing herself to perform well outwardly to hide her pain. Listen as Dueñas shares her story about battling addiction while teaching and what maintaining sobriety looks like for her.
