KATHMANDU COAST TO COAST S5 E4 : MANAGING EXPECTATIONS, POWERED BY CP MEDIA
Season 5 Episode 4 of the Kathmandu Coast to Coast Podcast, powered by Team CP
Episode 4 of this season is all about managing your expectations.
First up we are joined by Paula Rule from The Mental Edge. A big source of nerves in the lead-up to the Coast to Coast and standing on the start line comes from the expectations of others. For those at the top of the field, it could be through media and sponsors but for most of us, there is a perceived expectation from friends and family. These may be to win, to achieve a good result in your category or to complete the event. Paula will offer some advice for athletes on how to manage these expectations.
Ben Jordan is also on the show. While most events these days can be done solo where there is one transition and an athlete can turn up with their gear and go for it. The Kathmandu Coast to Coast is different as there are some tricky logistics spread across over 200kms of windy New Zealand Roads. Ben was one of Team CP's supported athletes in 2023, so we are going to have a chat with him about his experience and what tips he has for others.
We also chat with Alice Mullins, who is lining up with the elites this year in the Longest Day. Alice will give us an insight into her strategies around how to manage personal expectations.
Stay tuned for an action-packed season!

CP Media LIVE 9 MARCH 2023
with thanks to Team CP Partners @COFFEE CULTURE NZ
Mike Phillips -
We kick off the show tonight with the newly crowned New Zealand Ironman Champion - Mike Phillips. Mike went head-to-head all day with previous champion Braden Currie to finally pull away over the last part of run and to win by 3 minutes. We look forward to catching up with Mike to hear the inside word about his day unfolded, as well as find out about his preparation and nutrition.
Brian Ashby –
Brian Ashby was working behind the microphone this weekend rather than toeing the start line so had a different perspective on the day both in the elite race but also supporting age group athletes across the line. We look forward to Brian’s insights on the event and also his training and racing tips for those looking at taking on this challenge in the future.
Megan Parr –
Megan completed her first Ironman over the weekend putting in a massive effort to cross the finish line 15 minutes prior to the cut off. As amazing as it is to hear how the elite's blast around the course the mental fortitude to keep on moving forward to complete the course is next level.
Richard Greer –
Backing up from Coast to Coast 3 weeks ago Richard had a crack at doing the double. With Ironman specific training kept to a minimum we look forward to finding out how his day went and what were the key learnings after making it to the finish line on Saturday.
