Founders, Funding, Foundation, Filipinos, Family: A Teekay Story
Teekay is a rather understated company. We expect the work itself to do the talking.  However, we have many stories of good deeds, and in this episode of the Teekay podcast we focus on The Philippines, weaving together Teekay’s founding family, the Karlshoejs, the company, The TK Foundation and the good work being done alongside our Filipino colleagues and friends. It is work everyone at Teekay contributes towards. When we share stories about the behind-the-scenes work, it gives others a new perspective on the work and the ethos of the company, and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed putting this one together.. /// Follow our social channels: Facebook: facebook.com/TeekayCorp Instagram: @teekaycorp Twitter: @teekaycorp We upload new episodes monthly, so make sure to subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts! Welcome to episode 5, friends. Pull up a chair, take a swig of your refreshing beverage, and relax. After this 20-minute podcast, it’s fried rice or spicy tuna for dinner. Which is it to be?! (Translation: we will be discussing Teekay as a global organization full of different people. We are a myriad of multi-cultural magic. Lucky us.) /// Follow our social channels: Facebook: facebook.com/TeekayCorp Instagram: @teekaycorp Twitter: @teekaycorp We upload new episodes monthly, so make sure to subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts! Cult of Personality
A company is often reflected in the personality of its leader. Think Jobs, Ballmer, Musk. Is Teekay similarly cast? What Teekay description first comes to mind when we say “Evensen” or “Karlshoej”? This episode, we look at the type of company we have been during various eras, the personalities of those who drove us forward, and the people who swept up behind them. Expect expert analysis and behind-the-scenes insights from those who have lived through them and with them.  We are talking the power behind the throne, challenge and change, office marriages, learning cultures and lashings of Teekay SPIRIT, of course. Thanks to Executive Assistant to three Teekay CEOs, Theresa Murray for her knowledge and enduring support in Vancouver, and John Adams for the discussions and history lessons – he is sitting in the front row of the header photo, alongside three of the five Teekay CEOs we talk about in the podcast.  /// Follow our social channels: Facebook: facebook.com/TeekayCorp Instagram: @teekaycorp Twitter: @teekaycorp We upload new episodes monthly, so make sure to subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts! Wow Effect
In the last episode of the podcast, we were up in the Far North investigating the development and operations of the Yamal LNG project and how Teekay is involved. Episode 3 brings some more “wow effect.” We clamber back aboard our Arc7 LNG carriers to find out what life at sea is like when the sea is not water, but ice. With commentary from our team of skilled, professional seafarers as they live and work through the “most terrible, most interesting and most exciting time.”  Thanks to the crew of the Eduard Toll and the other seafarers who helped us capture some of the experiences – and there will be more in future episodes. Stay tuned.  /// Follow our social channels: Facebook: facebook.com/TeekayCorp Instagram: @teekaycorp Twitter: @teekaycorp We upload new episodes monthly, so make sure to subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts! Ice, Ice Baby
The Yamal LNG project in Northern Russia has been a massive undertaking. The cargos delivered by Teekay and other partners are a key component of the global energy supply chain. We discuss the work required to prepare for such a project - dealing with life on, in and through the ice. You will hear about the thousands of hours of work to prepare the Polar Water Operating Manual; the discussions with all the arctic partners; and all the 'flavours of ice' we encounter in the far North, including Bergy bits!  Also, what does It take to transfer cargo inside the Arctic Circle? Our warm-hearted LNGSTS colleagues are ready to execute the world's largest ever ship-to-ship transfer project. /// Follow our social channels: Facebook: facebook.com/TeekayCorp Instagram: @teekaycorp Twitter: @teekaycorp We upload new episodes monthly, so make sure to subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts! People like us, who do things like this
In episode 1, we set the stage for the Teekay podcast and discuss having lunch with Founder Torben Karlshoej, power poses, 1980s photos, constant learning, how one day at reception lead to a 20-year career, and a poor understanding of art history, amongst other topics..   /// Follow our social channels: Facebook: facebook.com/TeekayCorp Instagram: @teekaycorp Twitter: @teekaycorp We upload new episodes monthly, so make sure to subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts!
