Ep. 28 Breaking down the barriers of vulnerability w/ Dr. LaWanda Hill

OH, you say you want me to be vulnerable? How do you navigate vulnerability in the midst of still trying to be strong, functioning, and navigating trauma wounds? What is the relationship between vulnerability and intimacy and how do they show up in our relationships?

Join me this week as I discuss all of these questions and explore the answers with Dr. LaWanda Hill. Dr. Hill is a licensed psychologist in California and Texas, consultant, and curator of transformative spaces. She is a proud native of northern Louisiana and possesses an enduring love for assisting others, specifically Black women, in their journey of self-discovery and holistic growth. Dr. Hill specializes in sexual wellness for Black women and women of color. She is a provocateur of change who holds space for women to embrace their full sexuality, passion, and fierceness while shedding internalized messages that are oppressive and self-sacrificing.

In this conversation we dive into the fears associated with vulnerability, the difference between emotional and structural vulnerability, and Dr. Hill provides us with the essential questions to explore when you are starting your journey to being more present and of course, more vulnerable.

Ep. 23 Black Astrology & The Healing Power of Manifestation w/Gigi Robinson

Ep. 23 Black Astrology & The Healing Power of Manifestation w/Gigi Robinson

Just like Beyonce, we are always trying to figure out which sign matches our hearts' desires. Well, look no further because the Goddess Gigi Robinson, astrologist, sacred sexuality teacher, all things manifestation power, is talking to me today about Black Astrology and the power of understanding how the stars aligned in your life. This episode is a detailed lesson into your astrology natal chart, and how you can use astrology to not only better understand yourself, but your partner's energy, and heal from the vibrations of intergenerational trauma.

Gigi walks us through all of the planets, not just our Sun Sign (which is what most people only identify with). She explains how each planet shows up in our lives, what it means to learn what your houses are saying about your healing journey, and how to manifest pleasure and success in your life that has already been written in the stars. When I tell yall this episode gave me my entire LIFE! Yes, Gigi even blesses me with a mini-reading. You don't want to miss this!

To find your own natal chart and follow along with us in the episode go to https://astro.cafeastrology.com/natal.php with your birthday, exact time of birth, and location.

Ep. 21 "Briefcase over Baby : When mothering is not in the plans

We are coming to the close of the "Mothering While Black" mini-series and I wanted to make sure we covered a variety of stories and perspectives, including women who choose to not be mothers.

This week we are speaking to Jessica Brooks, MBA who shares how her childhood trauma, family pathology of sexual violence, and a multitude of reproductive health concerns influenced her decision to not be a mother. Jessica shares vulnerable insights into her life as a Black woman who decided that becoming a COO of a major fortune 500 corporation would be her dream, instead of the traditional script of motherhood and marriage.

You don't want to miss this episode; it's raw, vulnerable, and incredible healing.
