Epi 126 Day She Prayed by Pat Simmons
Welcome to A Reader's Book Corner! Happy Holiday Listeners, hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Welcome to 2024! I can’t believe we are already in a new year and I appreciate everyone whose tuned in to any or all of the episodes. We discussed a lot of good books and learned about a lot of new authors, ones I hadn’t read their books and some I always read their books.
It’s exciting because when I’m introducing you all to new authors and books, I’m also introducing those new authors and books to myself. Now today, we are going back to another author whose book was featured on the podcast, Pat Simmons, we discussed her new book, Day Not Promised in Episode 77 and Pat came on the podcast in Episode 70.
We started off 2023 with her title and I thought it would be poetic to start 2024 with book two in her The Intercessors series, Day She Prayed. This book is a Christian fiction book about one woman standing in faith while helping others find their way to the Lord. It is about a community built with prayer warriors. It shares it's not too late to seek out the Lord and ask for forgiveness.
We discuss crossover characters, the main character's assignment, how others work in your favor even when you don't know, how the intercessors series can affect you, about the author and more.

Episode 118 Soapy Romances and Thrillers with Shelly Ellis

In today's episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Romance, Women Fiction and Thriller writer Shelly Ellis. Shelly's fiction writing career began when she became one of four finalists in the BET Books First-Time Writers Contest when she was 19 years old. The prize was having her first short-story romance published in the book, All That and Then Some!
Her first novel, The Right Maneuver, debuted in April 2011. She has since published several novels and short stories under different pen names. She has been nominated for African American Literary Award, RT Reviewer's Choice award in Multicultural Romance, was named one of iBooks Rising Stars in Romance in 2015, and received a 46th annual NAACP Image award nomination for the third book in the Gibbons Gold Digger series, Another Woman's Man.
She is married and lives in Prince George's County, Maryland with her husband and their daughter. She loves to paint, read, and watch movies.
We discuss why she transitioned into writing thrillers, how she penned Soapy Romances, her book series, her decision about hybrid authoring, and more.

In today’s episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with an author whose books I started reading back in 2011 and that author is Women Contemporary Fiction Author Terri D. Terri starting journaling as a way to express herself without exposing what was really going on inside of her. After letting some close friends read some of her writing, they commented that she had a very unique way of writing and expressing herself. Those fiends encouraged her to continue writing, which started her writing her first book.
Since her debut novel she has written five more novels and have several others in the works. She also blogs over at Random thoughts of Author Terri D which she updates at least once a month.

In today’s episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Romantic Suspense Author Natasha D. Frazier. Around sixteen when her mother purchased a romance novel and left it lying around the house untouched, Natasha read it and a spark for the written word had been ignited.
Natasha believes that writing is one of her purposes and contributions to the world. She feels accomplished when she can get a few words written and like blah when life gets in the way. Her hope is that at the end of every novel, readers will feel like they’ve been wrapped in a cozy blanket with a mug of their favorite coffee/tea/warm drink.
When she isn’t reading or writing, she is likely watching movies with her family. Natasha resides in Richmond, TX with her husband and their three children. Her greatest joy and commitment is to her family who she hopes to inspire above all else. One of her many mottos in life is: Faith removes limitations.
