After you reach 35, you'll find yourself saying more often than not, "no ever tells you that before hand", or "life would be much easier if everyone knew that". This typically comes right before a big light bulb goes off and you've uncovered some sort of life hack or suddenly the issue at hand seem to make just a little more sense. I dedicate this season of That's My Que to all of the sh** no one told us, you'll probably need a cocktail for this one. Enjoy!

"Not Yo Mama's HIV"

The HIV epidemic in the African American community is one of the most underreported stories of the past few decades. We make up a little under 14 percent of the US population but account for nearly 44 percent of all new HIV diagnoses. Raising awareness is only the start. In this episode, I’ll share my experiences of my first United States Conference on AIDS (USCA) as well as information and stats regarding the HIV epidemic amongst black and brown people. Black women continue to be diagnosed with HIV at disproportionately high rates relative to White and Hispanic/Latino women. According to HIV. gov, in 2016 4,560 black women were diagnosed with HIV, representing 61 percent of new HIV diagnosis in the US that year. There are similarities in numbers relating to the Black MSM (men who have sex with men) population, who rank the highest in new HIV diagnoses in general. Let’s shift the narrative of HIV and AIDS in the black community to make more people not only feel safe talking about it, but also feel safe getting tested and seeking treatment for as well.
