And is pedophilia increasing in America? Bill and Tommy discuss the plethora of movies, documentaries and streaming series about pedophilia rings and famous pedophiles. Matt Rife REDUX - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 256

Matt Rife REDUX - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 256

NOTE FROM BILL: Matt Rife isn't the "next big thing." Matt Rife is the CURRENT big thing. Few comedians in history have hit the zeitgeist the way that Matt has in 2023. A little over a year ago, Matt had a video go viral on Tiktok, and the rest, as they, is history. But Matt is far from being a Tiktok comedian and far from being an overnight sensation. Matt has been a focused student of the craft since he was 16, sneaking onto comedy stages in Ohio, and then later New York, where I first met him as a teenager and put him on shows of mine at the now-defunct Times Square Laugh Factory. Years later, I was lucky enough to have Matt feature for me, and whenever I had to drop out of a headlining gig, I would say "Hey, hire this kid Matt." Many of us knew early on that Matt was an incredibly rare combination of perseverance, drive, looks, and talent, and it was only a matter of time before he hit big. However, I think only Matt himself was able to imagine the rarefied air in which he now finds himself -- already flirting with the cultural iconography of Eddie, Pryor, Chappelle, Dane, Dice, and hey, maybe ELVIS? Love him or hate him, Matt isn't going anywhere, and is only poised to be bigger and bigger, until he hits the ultimate entertainment zenith - that is, being an Avenger or a judge on "The Masked Singer." So check out this interview from an earlier, simpler time, when Matt was still my feature, but knew he was destined for much, much bigger things.... Godspeed, Rife! And enjoy the ride, old friend...

Ariel Kashanchi on REPRESSED MEMORY, MUSHROOMS & MAKING YOUR WAY - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 255

Ariel Kashanchi on REPRESSED MEMORY, MUSHROOMS & MAKING YOUR WAY - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 255

Ariel Kashanchi is a comedian, producer, and writer. She stops by the yard after Bill smokes a giant "Jeter" joint (OOOPS!) and they go down an interesting but dark path of childhood trauma, abuse, and repressed memory that may be shocking for some listeners. Ariel is very frank about the trials of her upbringing escaping from Iran on horseback as a baby to moving in with her assassin uncle in Kansas City until finding landing in Los Angeles. Despite her tribulations, Ariel has managed to turn her pain into authentic comedy and has found a way to give some inexplicably dark times meaning and purpose with her words and story. If you have ever been a victim of physical and/or sexual abuse, particularly familial abuse, this episode may be triggering, but also very powerful and edifying. I PROMISE there is also some yuk-yuks! ENJOY!

Tommy & Bill on BLACK WOMEN, BALLS & BAD LIES - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 254

Tommy & Bill on BLACK WOMEN, BALLS & BAD LIES - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 254

After a long hiatus, Tommy comes by the yard to talk about life, love, and pursuit of black women. First of all, is having a "racial preference" count as racism, and also, is Bill only maintaining his spot on "QUAKE'S HOUSE" by positioning himself as a caucasian brother who has a sweet tooth when it comes to love. From there, the podcast segues to the evil magic of testicles, and what exactly IS the role of masculinity in 2023. This one is FUN! No debate. No politics. Just two lost crackas trying to navigate life out in these streets. ENJOY! AND RATE, SUBSCRIBE AND SHARE PLEASE!

Gary Faust (of Faust Media) takes Bill out of his cozy AUSTIN trailer in the driveway and convinces Bill to interview him for the Afterlaugh, since they are two friends who don't really know much about each other. The result is a wild, three hour conversation that is at once brilliant and prophetic and dull and pathetic. We spill a lot of tee as Bill secretly reveals his anger and jealousy of NOT being included at all in the burgeoning Joe Rogan scene coming out of Austin. And Gary tries to convince Bill that COMICS are the NEW ROCK STARS! (Uh, they're not). Plus, is Bill more of an actor or more of a comic, and which is worse to be... ENJOY!

In particular, Bill discusses why he believes many acting schools like NYU are a scam. Finally, they get to the seminal movie "Bros" and why it's simultaneously great and groundbreaking and also a huge whiff at the film market. ENJOY!

Jiaoying Summers comes by the yard after a weekend featuring for Bill to talk about her rise in comedy, one of the more unlikely rags to riches stories you will hear in the history of comedy. Her life started off as her almost being left in a dumpster as a victim of China's ONE CHILD POLICY. But her mom, a strong independent woman like Jiaoying, changed her mind and decided to keep her, DESPITE the massive fine soon imposed by the Chinese government. Jiaoying was able to survive a poor upbringing to get to America, to get to La, and to find a way to accrue over a million followers on TikTok with hard work, business acumen, and talent. Her story is AMAZING! Please listen, rate and review the podcast! ENJOY!

Bill responds by talking about how horny Bonobo chimps are AND FINALLY learns the difference between an ape and a monkey. The ensuing conversation between two perfect strangers is an interesting discussion about the getting projects made, and in a town as gridlocked as Hollywood, how f**king impossible it is to get most original content produced and distributed. Enjoy eavesdropping on a conversation between two people meeting for the first time in LaLaLand. Find Chris online @1BigLiar.

Kyra Groves on BEING BILL'S FIRST GIRLFRIEND - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 217 *TBT EDITION*

Kyra Groves is a biracial actress and writer who has appeared in several national television commercials, including some for the Super Bowl. More importantly (for this podcast), she was Bill's first girlfriend when they were at T.C. Williams High School (from "Remember the Titans") in Virginia. As America continues to have a racial reckoning, Bill and Kyra talk about how unusual it was to be in an interracial relationship in the early 90's. Have things changed that much? Have they gotten better or worse? It's always a conversation worth having and this podcast explores many of those questions. ENJOY!

Becca Ward - WEST VIRGINIA & WT - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 213

Becca Ward - WEST VIRGINIA & WT - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 213

Becca Ward crashes at Bill's Los Angeles apartment and they catch up his yard, where they talk about their respective upbringings in West Virginia (Becca's home state) and Virginia. Becca's childhood is wild and woolly, something right out of the "Wonderful Whites of West Virginia" or "Hillbilly Elegy." Without a solid and sober parental unit, Becca relied on a positive attitude, a vivid imagination, and, most importantly, a sense of humor to get her through the madness. The same sense of humor got her through rough times and got her on the Hollywood Laugh Factory stage. Becca is a force of nature and a testament to the power of comedy to heal. ENJOY!

Andrea Kelly - AFTER THE LAUGH FACTORY - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 209

Andrea Kelly - AFTER THE LAUGH FACTORY - The Afterlaugh - Ep. 209

Andrea Kelly is a comic, actor, producer, manager, and one of Bill's oldest friends in Los Angeles. By that, we mean he's known her for almost 15 years, about the same amount of time he's been doing comedy. Andrea first met Bill when she was working as Jamie Masada's assistant, then as a manager for Laugh Factory Management, which has since been dissolved. After getting fired for making unintentionally doxxing half the comedy community, Andrea began a new path as a comic herself, which has since led to producing films with Paul Sorvino, Michael Rapaport, Chazz Palmentieri, until finally going back to her roots as a stage actress, where she is currently performing at the Beverly Playhouse. Andrea's story is interesting and inspiring, and PERFECT for the NEW YEAR -- a testament to the fact that you can always start over-  and that you have the rest of the life to figure out what you're doing.....ENJOY!
