Nichele Hoskins is Healthy Savannah's Assistant Director of Healthy Living and Community Development. A graduate of Beach High School and Savannah State, she is a longtime health journalist. Hoskins earned an MA in Journalism from The University of Michigan and has worked as a senior editor at such national publications including Health and Heart & Soul magazines. Communications, building community health knowledge and increasing visibility are key parts of her role at Healthy Savannah.

Nichele is also a WomenHeart Champions. WomenHeart is the National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease. As one of five local heart disease survivors who have trained as advocates for women’s heart health, Nichele helps lead monthly support group gatherings and visits women recovering in cardiac intensive care to reassure them and tell them about WomenHeart’s free events and resources.

Since 1995, she has taught group fitness classes. She teaches a restorative hula hooping class at the African-American Health Information and Resource Center on Abercorn Street.

Her hobbies change from time to time, but she enjoys jewelry making, cooking, learning about wine and travel; she is taking her third Chinese class in preparation for a spring trip to Singapore.
