The Airstream Chronicles

The Airstream Chronicles

By Richard Charpentier
Welcome to the Airstream Chronicles. This podcast will cover a variety of topics on mobile life, mobile tech, and things that catch my interest. I've been a full time RV'er for over a decade now living in an Airstream, and I work from my Airstream as well. This show will cover RV topics, mobile tech suited for RV'ers and highly mobile people, and general interest beyond just living in an Airstream. So if you're interested in mobile tech talk, remote work, Tiny Home living, and random stories that I share feel free to subscribe and follow along. Music licensed through bit.ly/2AcOxst

Addicted to keywording - Having fun with Photography again!
Over the past few weeks and months I've found myself having more fun with photography again. The frustrations of photography mounted over the years as I felt undervalued in the industry, which is part of the reason I walked away from the gallery and studio years ago. Too many requests for free advice, too many lookers and not buyers....you get the idea. So I'm thrilled that as I've been assembling new courses on Udemy for Lightroom, Drone Photography, and Landscape photography the joy has come back into my photographic work. That's why the podcast is late today. I was going nuts with keywords for the micro stock sites I've started working with. This weekend I'll be out shooting for fun! And for images to sell micro stock. That's my idea of fun. What are you up to this weekend for fun? So Many Software Updates - Are they all worth it?
The latest version of Adobe's Lightroom Classic has been released. And after checking it out and doing some testing all I have to say is "Meh." Companies are on such aggressive update cycles. A new iPhone comes out and there are already leaks about the next version. A new Note phone comes out and there are already leaks about the next version. It's never ending. And for highly mobile workers living out of RVs, vans, or flights all over the planet these updates do little more than eat up bandwidth and time. Security updates are one thing. But constant software updates that offer little to no new benefits are getting old! Stock Photography and Video - A Full Time RV Travel Revenue Stream?
A few episodes back I talked a little about stock photography and video services, and the fact that I joined up with Blackbox.global. Things have been going well so far, and the exercise reminded me that I might have some more images for stock photography sites as well. Years ago I signed up with Dreamstime (link below), and submitted less than 300 photos. And over the years I've made nearly two thousand dollars off of those images. That's over a decade, so not earth shattering numbers, but it's still passive income. Since we had a rainy weekend I decided to go through my old images and see what else I could send. Bottom line? If you're traveling and enjoying amazing places, I'm sure you have some images you could sell as stock. The more you have in your portfolio, the more you could potentially make! •Share better travel images with Lightroom - Only $10 for listeners: https://bit.ly/2NDHSNj •Check out my Drone Photography Course - Only $10 for listeners: https://bit.ly/2Q9Y1Zo •Learn to build websites with X Theme and Wordpress. Small Business Owners - It is not cool to "Shop" your competitors
So you're building a small business. Maybe you're starting your own portrait studio. You've got several potential competitors in the area. So you decide to call them pretending to be a customer and learn more about their price model and services. Not cool! Over the years I've been "shopped" more times than I care to count by other people looking to compete in the market space I'm in. I have no problem with competition, but I do have an issue when people pretend to be customers thinking they'll get more information out of me. Seriously folks, if you're starting up your small business, messing with other business owners time is not the right foot to set forward. If you need help starting up your business you'd be surprised how many "competitors" might just be willing to talk to you about their business. I've talked to many photographers and web designers over the years about what I do, and what they want to to. 9 times out of 10 they're no threat to my market space, and often I find what they're doing interesting as well. So, if you're starting up don't be a tool and "shop" your competitors. Instead be honest, and ask other business owners if they'd mind a conversation with you about what you're doing. The 1 Minute iMac 2017 Repair. My BS detector is going off!
A week ago I dropped off my 21.5 inch 2017 iMac with Geek Squad here in Prescott AZ. The system was booting up super slow, hanging up, crashing when more than one program was on, and making sizzling electric sounds randomly from the speakers. I purchased the iMac at Best Buy less than a year ago, and also purchased the Apple Care as well. The agent saw the computer was booting super slow (more than 5 minutes and a few extra minutes before you could open programs) and made the decision to send it off for repair. Apparently, whoever the computer was sent to has super powers. They booted, diagnosed, and repaired my computer in under 1 minute. That's right, 1 minute. I want their super powers! Is the system really repaired? Does Apple care more about their iPhone and iPad customers than their computer customers? We'll find out soon. The podcast is a little late today!
Today I got to take a trip up to Flagstaff AZ for another medical appointment. We're in the home stretch, one more appointment to go! Today's podcast is about nothing in particular. I didn't get to write up show notes this morning. Instead I was just racing around getting ready for the trip to Flagstaff. So....this is probably my weakest podcast in a while. Traveling with a Tablet Only - iPads and Androids for all your computing needs?
Are today's tablet devices up to the challenge of being your only computer while on the road? Maybe..... It depends on your needs. In my case, I need more screen real estate. I also use a lot of peripherals. USB microphones, SD card readers, CF card readers, external hard drives, a keyboard, and a mouse. My job is very computing intensive. In the case of other travelers, my setup might be over kill. And a tablet may be all you need. You need to decide what it is you really need, and what you can live without. And in the case of many RV'ers and full time travelers, a tablet may cover everything you need while on the road! A Long Weekend and a Family Visit!
My sister, her husband, and my 3 nephews arrived in Prescott on Saturday. Go figure, bad weather for their whole weekend here while tent camping. That's just part of travel though. Today's episode I talk about the long weekend, my camping evolution, and my family's visit. This is a short show today as I'm spending a little more time with the family before they head off today toward home. They've tent camped across the US over the past few weeks, and it's now time to make their journey home. I hope you've all had an awesome weekend, and tomorrow we'll be back to the longer podcast for Tech Talk Tuesday. The dumpster fire that is my 2017 iMac - The first time Apple has disappointed me in a big way
Glad to say I actually purchased Apple Care with my 2017 iMac. I don't usually do that. Maybe I doomed myself. Since getting my 2017 iMac I have experienced something I've never experienced with any other Apple product. Extreme disappointment and issues. Today I'm brining my computer "into the shop" again. Yes, this isn't the first issue, but it's the final one for me. Electric sizzling sounds from the speakers randomly, blue tooth disconnecting, Wi-Fi disconnects, programs freezing randomly, and more issues as well. Seriously, I recorded this podcast on my Macbook Pro (2014) this morning. Glad that little system still runs (albeit slowly). Tech problems happen, and sometimes you have to waste a day or two to get them dealt with. Wish me luck. HDR Photography & Aurora HDR 2019 Software - Enhanced Landscape Photography!
Skylum has released their latest version of Aurora HDR software. So this morning I downloaded the latest version and started experimenting with it. I've been doing High Dynamic Range Photography for over a decade now. I started out with Photomatix Pro, and last year tried out Aurora. There are some things I like, and some things I don't. I've used HDR for my landscape photography and travel photography for a decade now. HDR has come a long way, and Skylum might be on the right track. There will also be a follow up to this podcast on YouTube later today or tomorrow morning, so click the YouTube link below to see Aurora HDR in action. Tech Talk Tuesday - Selling stock images and video online.
For years I've sold stock photography online. And last year I started selling stock video online as well. Often I just didn't have time to upload to multiple sites (it's bandwidth intensive for video). But recently I came across a company called Blackbox.global. Submit your video to them, and they get it listed with several stock footage sites. So I'm giving them a try, and I'll share the experience with you. CO's Marijuana Industry Online - Cash Rich But Wacky!
Several years ago we got the bright idea to try building websites for businesses in Colorado's booming marijuana industry. Today's podcast tells you why, in no uncertain terms, I'll never do another website for anyone in this market space again. Huge money, poor money management, and crying "cash poor" while purchasing yachts, giant homes, and yachting lessons. And all the while, asking for discounts for other people's services. The Winter RV Migration Begins - Snowbird Season!
October is only a few days away. The temperatures are cooling off here in Prescott as we're a mile high. And soon the temperatures in Southern Arizona will be "cooler" as well. Given that Fall is coming in, and winter isn't far behind, the mass migration of "snowbird" RV'ers is beginning! In today's episode I talk about RV Parks and Resorts in Southern states. I also talk a little about "boondocking" and off grid camping for the winter season at LTVAs and other similar locations. •Share better travel images with Lightroom - Only $10 for listeners: bit.ly/2NDHSNj •Check out my Drone Photography Course - Only $10 for listeners: bit.ly/2Q9Y1Zo •Learn to build websites with X Theme and Wordpress. Yesterday while working on my latest online class it struck me that I must have a lot of faith in myself and my work. I'm investing so much time into the latest class. Do you care about smart phone specs? How about photo rules?
Today is tech talk Tuesday, and we've got 2 subjects today. First, do you care about smartphone specs at all? Do you just want it to work, and so long as it does the specifications don't matter? That's the camp I fall into. Our second topic for today. Do photography rules mean what they did 20 years ago? Probably not. The size and format of your final images are all over the place these days, so maybe it's time to rethink some of those rules. Too old for the Internet? Too old for Tech? No, not at all
I often hear from park and resort owners that their target customer base is too old to use the Internet, and too old for tech. That's just not right at all, and today we'll talk about that. Remember, if you're 65 today you were only 40 when the net became really popular. So I know you know about it. And I know you're using the net to find goods and services. RV Travelers - Slow down and enjoy where you are.
This is a recurring theme for me. When I started traveling with my Airstream in 2006 it felt like a race across the country. I was tired from long driving days, and I missed out on a lot. And the moment I slowed it down a bit? Yeah, so much more enjoyment. If you're a full time RV'er ask yourself this. "Why am I in a rush?" If you don't have a good answer, maybe it's time to slow down a little. Software Updates - They're part of daily life!
There always seems to be one type of software update or other waiting for us. Our smartphones seem to be getting constantly updated for apps or OS. Our computers are always crying out about this over due update or that one. And our websites often need regular attention as well. Every day I feel like I have one update or other to do! This is a universal thing if you're a tech user. You don't need to be a full time RV'er to experience this. Everybody has been talking about the Apple Keynote, the new iPhones, and iOS 12. Yesterday I went ahead and updated my phone and iPad. A little unnerving, but so far it's working well. The second part of today's podcast talks about running a business out of your RV, and how some people devalue your work because it looks like "fun" to them. Sometimes even Internet presence can't get you found.
Building your business in the middle of nowhere doesn't sound like a great idea. Building a business in the middle of nowhere with no amenities around even sounds worse. Sometimes not even Internet presence can fix things for you if nobody is searching for you. Apple's Keynote 2018 and Instagram Images - Mobile Tech Talk
Today's episode recaps yesterday's Apple Keynote 2018. Was there anything super interesting to me when it comes to mobile tech for my Full Time Airstream Living? Also on today's show I talk about businesses re-using Instagram photos from other Instagramers. For some reason channels built on other people's photos bothers me. Learn New Skills While On The Road - Online Classes
Continuing on the recent theme, today we'll talk about the value of online courses for highly mobile people. If you're on the road with your RV, or trying out the Vanlife, or maybe you're a world traveler, you don't need to be in one location to learn new skills. Online classes have come a long way over the years, and if there's a subject you're interested in, there's probably an online course that covers your topic. •Check out my Drone Photography Course - Only $10 for listeners: https://bit.ly/2Q9Y1Zo •Learn to build websites with X Theme and Wordpress. The quest for perfection leads to procrastination
Small business owners face some challenges that are shared by all of us. Often times we use the excuse of trying to get something perfect to help us avoid showing our final product to the world. At times the perfection quest can become paralyzing and keeps us from succeeding at what we're doing. A class I took years ago from UGurus addressed this issue. And the owner of the company, Brent Weaver said something that really hit home for me. "Do something imperfect." That's what we're talking about today here at the Airstream Chronicles! •Check out my Drone Photography Course - Only $10 for listeners: https://bit.ly/2Q9Y1Zo •Learn to build websites with X Theme and Wordpress. Oh No! I missed my first weekday podcast since starting!
That's right. Yesterday's tech talk Thursday was missed. Fortunately I'm not going to hold myself to a super rigorous standard when it comes to my social media. There are times when your focus is elsewhere, and that's ok. As is often the case, work takes precedent. And so that's my excuse for yesterday. I might just do a longer camping podcast over the weekend to make up for it, but we'll have to wait and see. •Check out my Drone Photography Course - Only $10 for listeners: https://bit.ly/2Q9Y1Zo •Learn to build websites with X Theme and Wordpress. Websites and your online business - Are you ready?
Today's episode dives into your web presence for you business. So many people think their website is a set it and forget it proposition. It's not. You need to interact with your site, potential customers, backups, updates, and more. And you need to be ready for success. Airstreams - The Original Tiny Home
There's so much out there these days about the tiny home movement. Living a more minimalist lifestyle and all that. I have to say, I've been a full time Airstreamer for over a decade now, and I think the original tiny homes might just be RV's. Mobile home, small footprint, and definitely requiring a conscious effort to not clutter your little home. Today we talk Tiny Homes, a new Tiny Home Hotel in Cave Creek AZ, and my puzzling over how mobile tiny houses really are. •Check out my class on Drone Photography and Image Editing, more than 50% off for visitors to this channel! Happy Labor Day from The Airstream Chronicles
Today's podcast is a short one. I just wanted to wish everyone a happy long weekend. This weekend the Airstream stayed put. And I almost achieved relaxation....almost. Real RV Living - The whole point of this podcast
We're already at Episode 29 here at the Airstream Chronicles Podcast. I have to say, I'm extremely excited that this channel is coming along so well! Thanks to all of you listeners here we're growing! In today's episode I do a little recap on this weeks shows. They're a good example of what I'm trying to achieve here. Showing you a real RV lifestyle. Many YouTube channels out there paint full time RV'ing as super exciting, full of travel, and the real world doesn't pop up often. In truth, full time RV living is just like any other type of living. Why Hello Game Changer! DJI's Mavic 2 Pro first impressions
Okay, okay. Another drone podcast? Heck yeah, it's part of my business that I run out of the Airstream. And wow, if you're interested in a small portable and powerful drone platform to bring along with you in your RV, backpack, etc, I'm thinking the Mavic 2 is it. I've gotten a couple of flights in now. And I can say for a fact that the still images coming out of the new sensor are stunning. Shooting in camera RAW the images look great before even thinking about an edit. And now we've got Aperture control on this one!!! F/2.8 through F/11. My medical rant - Stop misplacing my paperwork folks!
This has been a summer of doctor appointments. General practitioners, endocrinologists, allergists, ear nose and throat docs, neurologists, and a ton of misplaced paperwork. How is it that I can hand deliver paperwork to a physician's office and then receive a call weeks later that the paperwork is lost. And also that my GP needs to redo my authorization to see a referral as they misplaced that too? It doesn't inspire confidence. Not at all. As we move forward into the 21st Century I sincerely hope that we can see improvement in the medical community, it's a pretty big mess from my perspective. Let's hope I get my issues resolved soon! •If you enjoy the music check out Soundstripe: https://soundstripe.grsm.io/RichardCharpentier •My YouTube Channel: https://bit.ly/2mI1qkm •Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingintin/ •Want to support this podcast? https://anchor.fm/the-airstream-chronicles •E-mail Me: rich at rlcdesign.net

Does mobile technology impact a true wilderness experience?
Early 2018 my friends Josh & Leigh visited one of my favorite locations in Arizona. The Vermillion Cliffs National Monument. They had the opportunity to visit "The Wave," and camp near The Wave at State Line Campground, right on the AZ / UT border. I can't tell you how surprised I was to get text messages and photos from them. See in years gone by there was no mobile communication from the area. It left me feeling like that super remote wilderness experience was somehow now diminished. Today I talk about that feeling, and invite you to chime in on whether or not having your cell phone work in a total wilderness harms your experience or improves it. •Vermillion Cliffs Images from the Airstream Chronicles: https://bit.ly/2Pdkkfr •If you enjoy the music check out Soundstripe: https://soundstripe.grsm.io/RichardCharpentier •My YouTube Channel: https://bit.ly/2mI1qkm •Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingintin/ •E-mail Me: rich at rlcdesign.net

Normally I talk about working from my RV. In today's episode we're talking with Kevin, He's a full time RV'er traveling with his wife and two daughters. He's also a "Traveling Nurse," and we talk about how he's doing with the full time life style after nearly a year on the road. As I always point out, there are many ways to work and travel. And traveling nursing is one way many people are doing it. I've met many traveling nurses since 2006, and it's an avenue for many people who want to Full Time RV and see the country!

DJI Announcement Event & And A New Class From The Airstream
Well, Fridays are supposed to be for random camping stories, RV'ing stories, and other random information. But today I've got to extend my tech talk so I can cover DJI's announcement yesterday. The new Mavic Pro 2 is coming out, and I'm too excited about it to let this one pass. In addition to talking about DJI's announcement, I have a small announcement here as well. In the next few weeks I'll be publishing my latest class to Udemy. The class will be on Drone Photography and Editing specifically. Some hate for a YouTube Video I did over a year ago...
More than one year ago I did a short video on working with a new RV Park in Springerville AZ. The park was not completed at the time, nor is it today. 44 sites out of more than 100 sites have full hookups at the moment, and to help fund the continued construction of the park those sites are open. In the video I talked about what was and wasn't available. And in the past month people have discovered the video, and unleashed their really negative comments about it. What's with all the hate folks? If you'd like to see the video, here's the link. https://bit.ly/2N4pgT2 Sometimes I think it's too easy to say things on social media behind the wall of anonymity. •If you enjoy the music check out Soundstripe: https://soundstripe.grsm.io/RichardCharpentier •My YouTube Channel: https://bit.ly/2mI1qkm •Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingintin/ •Want to support this podcast? https://anchor.fm/the-airstream-chronicles •E-mail Me: rich at richcharpentier.com

The Mavic Pro and Pro 2 - RV Sized Drones
If you're looking for a super portable drone platform to use in your travels I can't recommend the DJI Mavic Pro enought. And hopefully soon I'll be recommending the Mavic Pro 2 as well! Flying the Mavic Pro for the last year I can say I'm extremely satisfied with the drone overall. I only have 2 major gripes. No aperture control, and the fact that my sensor leans to the "cool" side in color temperature. Both things that I can work around at the moment. •Check out AZ Drone: https://bit.ly/2L8A5Sv •If you enjoy the music check out Soundstripe: https://soundstripe.grsm.io/RichardCharpentier •My YouTube Channel: https://bit.ly/2mI1qkm •Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingintin/ •Want to support this podcast? https://anchor.fm/the-airstream-chronicles •E-mail Me: rich at richcharpentier.com

Value your work, no matter where you're working from!
Just because you're a full time RV'er, or you work for yourself, or you run a small remote business with employees scattered across the country, what you do has value. Don't devalue what you bring to the table because of the lifestyle you've chosen. Today's topic comes up after a conversation with a friend about someone wanting to use one of their photos in a new book. The book's author is contacting people on Instagram and other platforms looking for free images for his new book, which he will be charging money for. The offer is he'll give photographers "Exposure" for their portfolios in his book. Nice right? That's like offering the Home Depot "Exposure" for giving you free wood for your new home build! Flying Drones from the Airstream
It's been just about a year since I received my Part 107 certification from the FAA! And over the course of the past year I've improved my drone flight, video, and photography. Not only is drone flight fun, but it also has the potential to become a viable business for highly mobile people like RV'ers. The drone industry is still in its infancy, and the applications are doing nothing but growing! This weekend I'll be doing a little flight for fun, and for work. Privacy in the digital age? Yeah, that's a tough one!
Privacy in the digital age is a tough one. Traveling with a smart phone turned on? Your wireless carrier knows where you are. Making a purchase online? Someone knows your purchasing preferences. Secretly like watching YouTube videos? Google knows all of your favorites. True privacy these days means totally unplugging. If you have a networked device using a Virtual Private Network, the people running that know where you are and what you're searching on still. How much information do you want out there? That's up to you, but if you're connected to a network information about you is going to be "out there." •If you enjoy the music check out Soundstripe: https://soundstripe.grsm.io/RichardCharpentier •My YouTube Channel: https://bit.ly/2mI1qkm •Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingintin/ •Want to support this podcast? https://anchor.fm/the-airstream-chronicles •E-mail Me: rich at richcharpentier.com

Allergies are nothing to sneeze at!
In today's episode I talk about truly severe allergies. Often when people think of allergies they don't think about the fact that some are severe enough to kill a person. I'm actually one of those people with a huge allergy list, and many of those allergens are life threatening to me. In talking and interacting with people regularly I find they don't really get it. And that's frustrating at times, so today's post covers what can happen to a severe allergy sufferer. If you ever invite someone to dinner or a cook out and they have some bad food allergies???? There are Apples in my Airstream. Tech talk Tuesday.
Since the Airstream first hit the road in 2006 there have always been Apple products in it. I hit the road with a MacBook Pro in 2006. Years later I purchased my second MacBook, and finally the Macbook Pro that I've had since 2014. I'm not an Apple "fan boy." The products have worked well for me for years, especially while being highly mobile. Today I'm beginning to have concerns when it comes to Apple's direction with the laptop and desktop market. I think they're focusing more on "form over function," and I think that's a dangerous road. With so much focus on iOS, and think they're losing their vision on "development grade" equipment. Only time will tell.

Working from your RV can sometimes be lonely
Here we are. Another weekend is over and it's back to work for most listeners. I've got projects lined up for the week from the Airstream so I've got work to do. But sometimes working remote can be a little lonely. If you don't work with a team, have people to interact with during the day, you can find yourself missing being part of a larger group. Today I talk about working alone, working remote, and sometimes feeling under appreciated for what you bring to the table. Before you set off on a full time RV adventure, or working from home, consider what I talk about here today!

Today's focus was the fact that my uncle didn't appreciate my regular winning streaks in both Uno and Trivial Pursuit. So I got myself banned from playing with the adults! Creating a podcast episode with the iPhone and Anchor
Today’s episode was put together with my iPhone 8 and Apple’s AirPods. During the recording I kept calling the AirPods air buds. Whoops! I wanted to test the audio quality with the Anchor app and the AirPods. Listening to an excerpt I’m not super happy with the audio quality provided by the AirPods. Live and learn. That’s part of experimenting with tech that’s new to you. Also in this episode I talk about turning off notifications and how that can help your concentration and work. My favorite way to procrastinate happens to be instagram. So I have notifications turned off on it so I don’t spend a lot of time on it every day!

Some of you may be familiar with this story. For other listeners this might be a new one on you. It's a sad story at points, but please don't feel bad. It's also a story that explains why I'm not running around more with the Airstream. I'm posting this podcast today to help myself talk through what's been going on with me medically recently. Strange E-mail, Unlimited Data, & Net Neutrality. E11

A Weird Work Week At The Airstream - Being Flexible!
This week won't be my typical work week. Two days are totally shot this week due to some medical issues and visits to doctors. Part of the reason I'm building my own business is to allow me the flexibility to deal with some medical problems that have been going on for over a decade now. And this summer has been very trying due to those issues. In order to address the medical stuff I really have to be very flexible about my work hours, and working for myself allows that flexibility. Vlogging from the road - Can you make a living on YouTube?
Vlogging is the rage these days. Some people are getting YouTube famous, others aren't. If you're thinking about creating online videos from your travel adventures, your life, or maybe even your favorite hobbies, is it worth it to do? Well, yes, it's worth it if you set realistic expectations. In today's podcast we'll talk about the gear you'll need, the realities of the time it takes to produce a good video, and how you earn income from your Vlog. This is a longer episode for sure, but I'm putting it out there to help you understand what goes into the process, the time it takes, and the realities of getting money back from your hard work. Online RV Park Reviews - You have the power - Episode 7
In today's episode we're going to do a little more mobile tech for RV'ers. There are now a host of services for RV Park reviews out there. Things like rvparkreviews.com, and campendium.com offer RV'ers an easy way to learn about campgrounds where they're traveling. Also Google Reviews, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter...all of these services can be places where we talk about and recommend parks. All of these services are also locations where people can thoroughly troll parks as well. Like everything else with the net there are positives and negatives. It's up to us as RV'ers to help our community find the great places to stay, and create realistic reviews as well. Mobile Podcasting with Anchor.fm - Tech Talk Tuesday
On today's episode we're going to talk about the platform I'm building this new podcast with. Anchor.fm. Both the website and the app are super easy to use. Anchor not only allows you to create and host your podcast, they also help you get listed with the different podcasting services. So if you're looking to easily create a new podcast, I would highly recommend checking Anchor out for yourself! For highly mobile people, this might be a great platform to use while you're on the road! •What do I record with? https://amzn.to/2LJHL1A •Check out my gear on Kit: https://kit.com/gadgetat •If you enjoy the music check out Soundstripe: https://soundstripe.grsm.io/RichardCharpentier •My YouTube Channel: https://bit.ly/2mI1qkm •Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingintin/ •Udemy Course: https://www.udemy.com/wordpress-and-x-theme-for-beginners-fast-website-building

Working from the Airstream - A morning client meeting
You can certainly work from the road if you want to. There are some careers that are easier to work on remotely, and some that are tougher. Doing IT work, database design, web design, and SEO work for clients is very suited to my situation. Today I'm off to visit with Bret Blevins regarding his new online drawing course. I also fill you in on my main "equipment" used from the Airstream. If you're not an RV'er that's okay. Working from home is possible in many sectors of the economy today. And if you're considering working from home be sure to subscribe here as I'll be talking about working from my tiny home every week! Why do you like Camping? My own story and nostalgia
We all have our reasons for enjoying something. I've spoken to people who love tent camping, RV camping, etc. And I've met many people who don't enjoy camping at all. We all have our "thing." Since I was a little kid I've enjoyed camping. Summers with my Aunts, Uncles, Mem & Pep (grandparents), cousins, and neighbors. All on a little lake in Sutton MA. I think the Airstream has been and always will be a reminder of feeling so connected to my family as a child. Of course even beyond those formative years I've enjoyed the outdoors immensely. Living in the Airstream against a beautiful backdrop continues my enjoyment to this day! •What do I record with? https://amzn.to/2LJHL1A •Check out my gear on Kit: https://kit.com/gadgetat •If you enjoy the music check out Soundstripe: https://soundstripe.grsm.io/RichardCharpentier •My YouTube Channel: https://bit.ly/2mI1qkm •Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingintin/

Modern RV Camping - Are we "over connected" now? Episode 3
Tech Thursday addresses the question as to whether or not we're over connected. This isn't just about RV travel or Airstream living, this question extends to all parts of our lives. While I'm a huge fan of mobile technology, the Internet, and sharing things with a larger audience via today's network technology, I'm afraid we might be losing something. Modern RV Camping includes tablet computers, Android, iOS, laptops, and more. And if you look around any campground, or any populated downtown area you'll find people pouring over their mobile devices and not interacting with the people around them. Are we disconnecting from the reality around us? Time will tell.

Podcasting vs YouTube - Why create this podcast?
In Episode 2 we're going to talk about my current YouTube Channel (which will still grow just slower) and the new podcast. Going forward I'll be doing one YouTube video per week, and at the same time multiple podcasts per week. Bottom line, for straight up information podcasting makes more sense for me. YouTube videos (the great ones) require a lot of time, recording, editing, etc. So, I'll be slowing down the videos but hopefully improving their quality with more time between each video. And at the same time when a topic comes up or I just feel like sharing some information the Podcast is here to assist. If you're using Anchor.fm be sure to leave a message with any questions! The Airstream Chronicles 2018 - Episode 1
This is the first episode in a new podcast series from Rich Charpentier and the Airstream Chronicles. Today I introduce the new series to you and tell you a little about what we'll be covering here. The plan here is to create a new show from my home and office, a 25 foot 2004 Airstream Safari. This podcast isn't going to be all RV'ing all the time. Instead we'll cover a variety of topics from mobile technology to camping stories. We'll also talk about the latest trends in mobile tech for mobile workers, and occasionally we'll touch on topics that are important to me. So if you're interested in remote work, living in an RV, camping, mobile technology, tiny home living, Airstreams, Apples, smart phones and more, subscribe today! Want to learn more about me?
