In this episode, our guest Nick Gates hails from Las Vegas, Nevada and he is essentially a swiss army knife for offensive line play, having played every position on the O-Line from his days at Nebraska, to now for the New York Football Giants. And to top it all off, he was named team captain before the start of this season. I'm sure everyone recognizes him from his horrific injury earlier this season, and while we discussed the injury, we also learned more about Nick as a guy off the field. I hope you guys enjoy it!

In this week’s episode, I interview an NFL journeyman, the guy who made the block heard around the world, a Super Bowl champion, an avid outdoorsmen, fisherman, AND pilot… basically I have the most interesting man in the world on today’s episode, Ted Larsen.

This week’s interview features former NFL center for the Lions and Dolphins Travis Swanson. We had a great conversation about Arkansas, Coach Pittman, and his time there. We also discussed his playing career playing alongside the likes of Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson, being one of the few players to do the London trip, as well as being on the field for the Miami Miracle against the New England Patriots in 2018. Then of course outside of football, what he’s up to now as a Financial Advisor and obviously we discussed his favorite foods and spots to eat. After the interview, I do my usual rundown of current events going on around football and give my picks for this week. Thank You for all of the support and I hope you guys enjoy it!

In this week's episode, I sat down with Deerick Smith who is the Director of Strength & Conditioning and Assistant Athletic Director at Southside High School in Batesville, Arkansas. Deerick also Founded his own S&C'ing brand "Smith Performance" after garnering a social media following of over 17,000 followers on Twitter. We discuss living in Arkansas, the Razorbacks, the evolution of training from exercises, recovery, supplements, and more. The second half of the interview is focused on creating, growing, and running brands via social media. Last but not least, as always, we talk about Deerick's favorite foods! Enjoy!

In this week's episode, I interview a former teammate and good friend of mine, Founder of Integrity Sports, NFL Agent Reggie Mitchell. During the interview, we discuss the process of becoming an NFL agent, the competitiveness of the industry itself, the impact of the new NIL rules on the college football landscape, and his first client, his cousin, Steelers Cornerback Mark Gilbert. The NFL season is finally back and I couldn't be more excited about it! In this week's episode, I discuss contract extensions (or lack thereof) starting with the monster extension given to Vikings RT Brian Oneill. ($92.5 mil second amongst RT’s) Raven's Tight End Mark Andrews signing an extension becoming the third highest-paid Tight End and waiting on the Steelers to sign star TJ Watt. I also touch on Zack Martin being ruled out in Week 1 with covid, which is extremely disappointing, and Leveon Bell signing with the Ravens. Finally, I recap the college games from last week and give my picks for this week's college and NFL games. I'm not saying I'm a sharp, but I went 4-1 last week with my college picks. This week I like Iowa over Iowa State, Ohio State over Oregon, BYU over Utah, and USC over Stanford. For the NFL, I'm going with Bucs over Cowboys, Bills over Steelers, Chiefs over Browns, and Hawks over Colts.

In this week's episode, I start by discussing the sham that is the NFL Top 100 list. Big guys continue to garner no respect even from their peers. I also touch on some big guy news such as Teven Jenkins needing back surgery and Mt. Becton getting heat from the New York media for his preseason "struggles" thus far. Then, of course, I talk about the newest NFL taunting rule change which has caused people to get the 'No Fun League' trending across social media. Lastly, I briefly touch on NFL news around the league such as NFL stadium covid protocols, Falcons becoming the first team to be 100% vaxxed, Jamal Adams becoming the highest-paid safety in the league, Josh Rosen being cut yet again, and last but not least, the Tim Tebow era ending in Jacksonville.

The NFL season is officially underway! In this week's episode, I briefly discuss the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame game, the impact of Quinn Ewer's decision to leave High School early to cash in on NIL deals, and an array of other news around the NFL. The news included the plethora of foot injuries on the Colts, mayhem in Minnesota between the release of former first-round pick Gladney, and the tension between Cousins and his head coach on the covid vaccine, the rise of the Young QB's (Mac Jones -> Newton/Trey Lance -> Jimmy G/Ellinger -> Eason/Fields -> Dalton) and Joe Burrow's struggles. At the end of the episode, I discuss the possible relocation of the Buffalo Bills, Phil Rivers comeback, Watson trade rumors, and RG 3 hitting the broadcast booth.

Football is back!!! In this week’s episode, I present my Top-10 Offensive Lines entering the 2021 NFL season. I also discuss the NFL’s new COVID memo, teammates openly arguing via social media, and the overall outlook on this year in terms of dealing with COVID potentially impacting the season. I then dive into the Aaron Rodgers/Green Bay drama and recap some of the biggest headlines from recent weeks; big paydays for big guys, trade requests, etc. Last, but not least, I give my opinion on the Texas/OU decision to join the SEC and the impact this move will have on the College Football landscape in years to come.

After a brief hiatus, The Big Uglies Podcast is back with a LOADED episode. In this week’s episode, I cover the recent news regarding the SCOTUS decision on the NCAA, and the impact it will have on the college sports landscape moving forward. I also discuss Cole Beasley and COVID protocols heading into the upcoming season, and what this should mean for teams who may have COVID breakouts within their locker room. Lastly, before I dive into my position rankings, I briefly give my opinion on the Julio Jones to the Titans trade, and where this now ranks Tennessee among AFC contenders.

In this week’s episode, I interview the man, the myth, the LEGEND, Darrian Carmicheal aka Coach Syrup! As many of you know, I helped Darrian go viral a few years ago when I tweeted out a picture of him giving his linemen syrup shots after touchdowns. As a result, Coach Syrup was born. In my interview with him, we discussed what it was like to go viral, his love for kids and coaching, his off-the-field ventures such as his own mentorship organization that he founded "Put Me in Coach", and of course, his favorite foods and best places to hit when in ATL. In this week’s episode, I interview the Baylor Bears offensive line coach Eric Mateos where we talked about his coaching journey thus far from being a grad assistant making 250 dollars a month to coaching under guys like Coach O at LSU Coach Pittman at Arkansas, and his recruitment of Frank Ragnow to Arkansas who has just recently became the highest-paid center in the NFL! We also talked about his time at BYU coaching Brady Christensen and being around Zach Wilson, the #2 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft. Aside from football, we also talked about some of the things Eric enjoys doing off the field like his love for sneakers, vacation spots, favorite concerts, the Kansas/Texas BBQ rivalry, and of course his favorite foods and best spots to eat when in Waco. Illinois State’s Drew Himmelman joined me on the podcast this week, where we discussed his transition from a tall lanky High Schooler to the mauler Left Tackle NFL prospect that he is today. We talked about the struggles of covid-19 and how it impacted his senior year, such as playing the FCS season in the spring rather than the fall; and his preparations for the upcoming NFL Draft. We also talked about how Drew was the lead blocker at Illinois State, for now, NFL star Running Back James Robinson. We concluded the interview by discussing some of Drew’s off-the-field hobbies, Illinois State O-Line dinners, and Drew’s favorite foods. Thanks for listening and enjoy!

Episode 24 with Aaron Taylor has to be my favorite interview yet. We discussed his playing career from Notre Dame to Green Bay, life after football, and the creation of the Joe Moore Award. Aaron tells great stories of Lou Holtz, Jerome Bettis, Brett Favre, Reggie White, duffle bags with $700k floating around the locker room before the Super Bowl, and so much more! I highly encourage everyone to listen to the entirety of the episode even if that means breaking it up into sections! Definitely expect Aaron to be back on the show.

ESPN College Football Analyst Cole Cubelic joined me on the podcast and this episode is Part 2 of our interview. In Part 2, Cole talks about one of the most exciting and best college football games he has ever witnessed, along with discussing the possibility of the FCS having a spring season. Rather than having one traditionally in the fall where they are constantly overshadowed by the Power 5's; whether online, TV, or media coverage. Cole also previews the 2021 Linemen NFL draft class sharing his opinions on the value and depth of the group as a whole. And what would be a Cole Cubelic interview without discussing the famous Bloomin' onion bit at the Outback Bowl that went viral. Last but certainly not least, we discuss Cole's favorite foods and the best places to eat in Birmingham and Auburn. 

ESPN College Football Analyst Cole Cubelic joined me on the podcast this week. While editing, I decided to split this episode into Two Parts because I didn't want to cut anything out of our awesome conversation, and I also didn't want to upload an hour and a half episode. In Part 1, we discuss the biggest hoax known to man, aka the BMI index. Cole also walks us through how he went from never playing an offensive snap in high school to being the starting center for Auburn. I also ask Cole to explain the Alabama-Auburn rivalry and the impact of the infamous poisoning of the oak trees at Toomer's Corner on Auburn's campus. Part 1 is then wrapped up with Cole detailing his post-football career and his rise in the media ranks.

Former University of Northern Iowa Panther, Spencer Brown, joined me this past week for an interview. We talked about our love for Koe Wetzel, transforming from a high school tight end to a collegiate lineman and gaining 70lbs along the way; We also touched on training with Offensive Line legend Joe Staley, his pro day, benching 500lbs, fried sticks of butter at the Iowa state fair, and so much more! After the interview, I discussed the Chase Claypool bar fight situation, the NFL moving to a 17 game schedule, AND the blockbuster trade between the Niners, Dolphins, and Eagles.
