9 Ideas to Jumpstart Your Personal Brand Online

Today's topic is '9 Ideas to Jumpstart Your Personal Brand Online' and the tools I talked about are listed with the tips:
Create a branded background for your Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn account and make sure each account has the same look and feel. Check out the
Canva.com tool I mentioned to help create the images you need.
Get your LinkedIn profile up to 100 percent complete.
Join Help A Reporter Out (it's free) and make it a daily habit to scan for journalists looking for someone to interview and quote with your expertise.
Create a short 7-12 minute single audio-cast episode of a topic you are an expert in and give it away on your website.
Make a short two-minute video of yourself talking about your business, your expertise and what you offer. Use your mobile phone to record the video.
Write a very short (30 pages or less) e-book or white paper that provides valuable information. Offer it for free on your website or blog.
Create a SlideShare presentation on a specific "how-to" topic and post it on your LinkedIn profile and/or website.
Start using basic mobile marketing by integrating QR codes into your blog, business card and e-books that link to your digital assets that you have created.
Create a list of associations and trade organizations in your field, and contact them about leading a webinar (for free) on a topic of interest to their members.
Here are the tools I mentioned in the episode:
Canva.com - this is the image editing tool you can use for free to create your brand across your social media accounts (http://www.canva.com)
Zoom.us - this is the tool I use for online meetings and webinars (http://www.zoom.us)

Episode 05 - Change is Inevitable but Growth is Optional

Episode 05 - Change is Inevitable but Growth is Optional

In a sermon a few weeks ago my pastor made this statement that caused me to really think:

“Change is inevitable – growth is optional”

I thought, “What? I thought you grow when you change or make changes in your life. I don’t get it.”

Then I started thinking about the changes I’ve experienced at work, at home, and throughout my life. What I started to see is whenever I experienced a change that was unexpected, how I dealt with the change usually made me aware of something I didn’t know about myself before the change occurred. It was my choice to either accept the lesson and learn from it or dismiss it as some random act with no value I could extract in preparation for the next event that comes up.

When it comes down to it we all are going to change over our lifetimes. We all are going to have events in our life that show up expectedly or we plan for but may go a different way than expected. The question is what do you learn from these experiences that help you become a better person? How do you use what happened to your advantage?

What is the lesson in the event that you need to get that prepares you in some way to face the next event with a better mindset and attitude?

Because change is inevitable make sure you take the option to grow from the changes. It will make you better than the day before and help you reach your full potential and purpose.

Episode 04 - You Are Not A Success Unless You Have A Successor

Episode 04 - You Are Not A Success Unless You Have A Successor

You Are Not A Success Until You have an Successor

Recently, I learned from the news that Apple has become a trillion dollar company. Personally I have an all Apple product home with MacBook Pros, iPads, iPhones, and Air pods everywhere because I really like their products and so do my children. When I think about their success over the years I think about their leadership and how it has evolved.

My first thought was to go to Steve Jobs and Tim Cook, the famous CEOs of Apple. Some would say that Steve Jobs was a success all by himself and didn't need a successor. All the success Apple has experienced was due to the innovation and dedication of the man they fired a few years before that they brought back to help them out of the hole they dug for themselves.

As you look at how the company is doing with Steve Jobs gone and with Tim Cook in charge, I would say that the quote holds true. While Tim Cook didn't create all the products that made Apple what it is today, he is having some success of his own in the shadow of his predecessor.

That is a sign that you picked the right person to come behind you and continue the vision you set in the beginning. Will Tim Cook continue to have the success he has had and continue to keep Apple at the top of their market? With a trillion dollar valuation it will be fun to watch where the company goes from here and how the leadership evolves.

I think the bigger point is to not just create something but make it so it will last - and make sure you put someone in place to continue that legacy. We all have things we have created or built so our true success depends on making sure we pick the right people to put in place to continue what we've started. That is why I personally enjoy seeing family-run businesses that are on their 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of leadership.

My question is what are you building today that someone can come in and continue when you leave it? Let that question guide your choice of market, product, service, and entity for your legacy to exist - and then you will truly be a success when you have enabled your successor to build and continue to build your legacy.
